  1. Amazed that some make the time to find fault with us tonight, but as ever it takes all sorts, the sense of entitlement comes to the fore no matter who we are up against, it’s a hun thing.

Forget the FACT we were up against the team that earned nigh on three quarters of a billion pounds last year, that would be nearly 750 million of your brit pounds……the most any team on the planet earned by the way, a team that is without a doubt in the top handful on the planet, yet some still find the time to do us down for having the audacity to have players who are not the best on the planet, winkers imo :-)

    night night bhoys

    very proud

those roaster prima donnas knew they were lucky tonight and their alien looking manager looked very uncomfortable all night

    well done celtic

can we be brave away to psg ? a big ask but I’m sure br will put it to the players

    night night

  3. Missed Moussa there, sorry Ernie, the Bayern defence will know how hard they worked tonight when they wake up in the morning.

  4. Almost a great result, definitely a big improvement in performance. Accurate passing was a joy to watch after the Munich display and the level of commitment was brilliant. James showed he belongs at this level, so happy for him. KT FFS, how can a 20 year old be so good??? His buyout clause better be at least 50 million.

On the flip side, I can’t help but reflect on the fact that they were missing 3 top world class players and were not chasing a result. We brought our A game, they didn’t have to. That A game, however, will be enough to see off Anderlecht and a run to the semis or final of the lesser cup might be on the cards.

    We’ll be Back.

  6. Great game

Great Celtic and great Celtic support

    Why did Boyata stop?

    Why did the Quiff fluff?

A draw would have been the result but we take enormous credit from a game in which we were written off by most.

BR compounded the critics playing the side in the big competition for the big money after he’s secured our league where he can resort to his large squad and win comfortably.

Nobody played poorly Tierney Forrest and Brown immense, and we were given a run for our money with an away win secured we’re now assured another league above the one we play in, delighted for the Celtic support.

How do you explain the difference between tonight’s performance and the first leg?

  8. CRB @ 10.26

No smiley just thoughts on how we beat BM the next time.

We are better than tonights performance

    That was not peak CFC.

  9. Terrible conflicting emotions leaving the ground tonight.

Very proud of the tremendous effort, bravery and judgement of our bhoys

But deeply disappointed that we did not get what we “deserved” which was, at least, a draw.

“Deserve” in CL does not really apply though when you make a horrible rick at the first goal, even if it should have been disallowed, and allow a renowned player like Javi Martinez to get the jump on you.

We played twice as well as we did against Aberdeen and we played well againsta Bayern that, admittedly, were missing Muller, Lewandowski, Ribery, Neuer and Hummels (and I know were without Simunovic and Paddy).

That is a level we must continue to aspire too and face down the impatient “just lump it forward” cries. James Forrest had his best Celtic game. Callum was magnificent. Broony and Tierney were fiercely combative and concentrated and Stuart Armstrong tried really hard and nearly gave us a great goal when Coman (no lazy players in this German team), on his own goal line, prevented Moussa finishing a great move.

I may be sick of hard luck stories but I am not sick of this team.

Thank you Celtic for a great night and a great match.

  10. Ernie

IMO that would be down to players who don’t have the self belief, that costs money we don’t have, in fact there are few players who have that self belief, only a handful of teams have them players, we are miles away from that level presently.

    HH

  11. Ernie, if I may interject for TET, sure he will also have his opinion.

How often have you heard how CP can inspire?

How many of footballs greats have told you how they desire to play in that environment?

That might be the difference between Munich and Celtic Park. What do you think?

  12. GreeninbingleyinOslo on

We lack a bit of confidence and a lot of attitude — we are a half yard from being a good team (Brendan).

    ———————

He’s going to make sure these three deficiencies are addressed pronto, like he has addressed all the others – quietly, without fuss, and sometimes using the Brendan Death Stare.

We are making very, very good progress. I am loving the fact that I feel bitter about Bayern winning tonight. Bitter beats forelock-tugging any day.

Watched Brendan’s Celtic reach a different level tonight. Just 18 months. Confidence bravery on the ball, in the SPL is our mainstay our nursery. That was the fruits tonight.

We didn’t show it against PSG, tonight we played our game from the off, lost our way for 10-15 then we took off.

Please stop criticising, sit back and admire a work in progress..

  15. THE EXILED TIM on 31ST OCTOBER 2017 10:30 PM

I think BR can convince players to have self belief. It was missing in the first leg. Celtic stood off Bayern let them dictate and allowed themselves to be overawed. Not tonight though. They got in about them and took the game to them.

  16. What is the Stars on

If only we had played like that against Kilmarnock last Saturday,we would have won and would have stayed top of the league and kept the unbeaten domestic run going.

Ok we are top of the league anyway and still have our unbeaten domestic run but people don’t buy season tickets to see reserve teams.

Ok then its using the squad but big and all as the squad is we still haven’t had a decent scapegoat since poor auld Efe left.

    Not good enough.

  17. Brendan’s coaching was all over that performance tonight, the amount of times we took the ball down under pressure and got playing again was a joy to watch, circulating the ball when there was nothing on, playing out from Craig Gordon, Broonie taking the ball under pressure, guys like Boyata and Bitton taking responsibility on the ball, the list goes on and on. It was proper football, if we had scored from the one that was taken off Dembele’s toes it would have been a goal talked about for years and years.

  18. I see that our resident fannybaws has returned with his probing questions technique.

Take a break from knitting cardigans and look at the big picture. We punched above our weight tonight, todays SPL teams can barely go toe to toe with the dross from the Baltics and the new Europeans in the Balkans.

I am sitting amongst a crowd of Benfica fans who understand what happened to them tonight. Although I suspect Benfica Quick News will be full of arseholes spouting shite also.

Tomorrow we will still be Celtic and all the pleasure that brings. HH

To be fair you have to wonder how many scouts who came to look at KT will be reporting back on JF. How long does his contract have to run?

  20. Watching the highlights.

    We played well.

    Taking the performance apart, pointless.

We grew as a team tonight.

    As a team.

Against some of the best players, and one of the worlds great teams.

    Callum just scored btw.

    Agree 100% mhate.

Also, i couldnt believe the stick Brendan took for the changes he made on saturday. FFS. Surely hes entitled to think saturdays team should have been good enough to beat Killie.

Nothing in football is a given though but he was resting players for tonight and given the performance, in my opinion he was well vindicated. In Brendan, i certainly trust.

  22. Ernie

With respect, if you think players at our level can turn it on on command, you really need to get out a bit more, the likes of the team we were up against tonight struggled to compete with us for parts of the game, but they did what they had to, they showed they have it, we are well short, we will never get to their level unless we get wheans of cash, that is just the way it is, we will always be a level two team that from time to time can beat the big boys.

  23. We still need to find the confidence to take the ball forwatd through the MF.

    Too much side to side.

Not enough confidence to find the space behind a high press.

Plus SB is starting to get caught with his half turn in our half.

The CBs need to take the space that the opposition gives them. When we did it tonight it made a difference.

  24. CultsBhoy- Last of the famous international PlayBhoys on

That’s the thing about Rodgers…he is a thinker and a doer. He learns and implements solutions.

    That’s why he’s top notch.

  25. WiTS, new scapegoat has to be Dave.

    Third row behind the goal.

He ducked at one point, put Stuart off and forced his miss. So Dave behind the goal is the new scapegoat.

    Perfectly serious here.

  26. Proud of the Bhoys tonight; so unlucky to lose that game against a team playing a 40 million euro stand-in for one of their injured half decent players.

For anyone wondering what the defeat means for our Europa League qualification chances, it means that we only need to draw at home to Anderlecht at home, even if we lose 0-10 in Paris and Anderlecht beat Bayern Munich 10-0 at home. That scenario would see Celtic and Anderlecht finish on 4 points apiece, with Celtic having the better head to head record against Anderlecht. And if Anderlecht lose to Bayern, then even a 0-2 or 1-3 defeat at home to Anderlecht would see us through.

One final question though, why can’t we perform like that against Kilmarnock?

Against Killie we had 20 shots at goal to their 4 (7 to 2 on target) and drew 1-1. Tonight Hibs had 5 shots at goal to Killie’s 16 (4 to 5 on target) and won 3-0. Hibs scored from 60% of their shots at goal, while Celtic scored from just 5% of theirs against the same opposition just 3 days earlier…

    Go figure!

I reckon too many had their eyes on tonights game, just another indication of players at our level not having the full package, not a slight on the players, just the way it is.

Bayern brought on a sub tonight who cost them over £40 million, yet he struggles to get a game for them, that’s what we are up against, we done good.

So impressed. So proud. So unlucky. Come a long way since Red Imps. James Forrest, take a bow son. Terrified a top class defence.
