  1. prestonpans bhoys on

I don’t know if it was on here or SC that someone pointed out that the BBC, when talking about Derry, their opening gambit is Londonderry, thereafter Derry.

Bang on, that’s exactly what they did. Playing to both parties I suppose

  2. Enjoyed a wee post Coias walk along duke street toward Celtic Park on Saturday.

Just as we got to the junction and in full sight of the lovely iconic Louden Tavern a huge roar went up, cars tooting horns and folks started hugging.

It reminded me of the first time I had seen that happen. Back in 1968/9 season I think it was when Rangers lost the league on the last day having been almost unbeaten. I was only about 8 years old and was amazed at how so many were reacting all around me without Celtic scoring !

It’s one of the best feelings. Bettered only by getting results against them which exceed pre game expectations.

My favourite games I have personally seen v them over 50 years :

The 4-2 10 men win the league

The 2-2 10 men coming back to draw at Ibrox 3 months later from 2 down

The 1-0 Joe Miller cup final

The 1-0 Christophe Julien League Cup final

The 2-0 Di Cannio Cup game at CP

The 5-1 Lubo 2 and Mjalby debut

    The 2-0 Macavennie Centenary

The 2-1 McStay and Walker at Ibrox

The 3-0 Hatley and Hurlock sent off

The 5-0 After 60 mins at CP under Brendan

    The Moussa Hat Trick game

The Murdo 2-1 league cup final

The 2-0 Jonny Hayes and Eddie at Ibrox in the corner with 700 other tims

The 3-2 with 10 men and Eddie winner at Ibrox with red card red card

The Stubbs equaliser 1-1 in the 92nd minute at CP

Charlie Nic 2-1 I watched from Copeland Rd

John Hartson 1-0 I watched from Ibrox main stand

The lubo and Henrik 3-0 I watched from Govan stand

Crainie and Archdeacon 3-0 at a windy CP

    Beach all Sunday at Ibrox

    The 6-2

    2-0 Griff semi final

3-2 Eddie red card red card game

    5-1 at Ibrox

2-3 defeat jelly and ice cream at Ibrox

2-0 Bobby Murdoch and John Hughes at CP my first one aged 9

Let’s hope I am adding another on Wednesday. I am sure loads of you have many more you have enjoyed that we’re so special.

  3. Fifty years on that part of Ireland is still that part of the UK

And yet there are those on here still waving the Union Flag

And expecting others to stand along side them waving the same flag

    Include me out

  4. Burnley at 10.54 , 4 2 at Ibrox May1983. We were 2 nil down at half time. The team came out to my favourite walk on I’ve heard our support sing . We had the Celtic End , part of the Govan Stand , half the main stand and enclosure.

3 2 October 1982 at a soaking Celtic Park, Paul McStay’s debut against an Ibrox club. A brilliant match which we won in the last minute following Murdo Macleod running from box to box to score our third goal.

Winning our three league games at Ibrox in 1983.

    ——————————–

And I’d like to include myself out of that crass equivalence. Scotland is not an oppressed and occupied country with a gerrymandered border. It’s insulting to make that comparison.

There’s no one waving a Union Flag here. (well apart from the likes of JHB maybe)

But a few of us have objections to an offer to exchange a flag and borders for a decade long deep financial recession. That’s not something I want to visit on my Scottish neighbours.

I am happy to have a modern Scotland with all its liberties and do not need the prestige of being as globally influential as Lithuania in pursuing the 19th century form of statehood.

  7. Dexter P. Bampot on

Of course, yesterday was reminiscent of the close title chases in the TB, WJ and GS eras.

The last minute winners in non-derby games where the 3 points mean exactly same. That’s what the players need to know. The 3 points on Saturday equal 3 points on Wednesday.

We all have concerns about the midfield on Wednesday. This is the major chance for McCarthy. Possibly the only one. It looks like O’Riley could be straight in at the deep end. But it’s our deep end and I really hope that the raucous home support give both the breathing space they need.

Forrest looks as if he must miss out on Wednesday, albeit it isn’t it out of the question that Abada goes back to the bench for James.

Taylor/Scales like like the big defensive choice. With Tavernier on right and our general midfield issues I think Ange will go for Taylor.

  8. Good morning CQN

Is Scotland more influential in world affairs than Lithuania ? whilst it remains in the Union

Lithuania is a developed country, with a high income advanced economy; ranking very high in the Human Development Index. It ranks favourably in terms of civil liberties, press freedom, internet freedom, democratic governance, and peacefulness. Lithuania is a member of the European Union, the Council of Europe, eurozone, the Nordic Investment Bank, Schengen Agreement, NATO and OECD. It participates in the Nordic-Baltic Eight (NB8) regional co-operation format.

  9. British State does not have a written constitution

    19th Century statehood indeed

    Have a good day

I’m aff oot to pay taxes to a corrupt undemocratic Govt who despise everything i believe in

Hello again all you young rebels.

From another hot and humid Melbourne suburbs garden.

    time to face the hun.

Savouring the thought of him and Matt O’Riley in our team

  12. Reading the posts some of our fans are being a wee tad over confident about Wednesday . This will be a tight game , we are missing a few top players and they have arguably in aribo there best player back and the tricky wee winger from Man Utd who could give us problems he looks a player . We suffer from not putting the ball in the net that our great play deserves , our midfield drive is compromised nir bitton being another blow , I only hope that the team that’s picked all turn up , no room for hiding on Wednesday .HH

That post saved me typing up mine, I feel exactly the same. I’m going on Wednesday and want to celebrate a memorable victory but if I’m being totally honest due to our missing players I’d take a draw.

  14. Boris off to Ukraine this week to summon up his inner Churchill no doubt.

English voters must have brains made of cheese.

You’ll have upset status quo Ernie with that post.

He’ll be on to demonstrate how it is in fact Scottish voters who have cheese for brains and will ask you for your detailed evidence of English cheese brains :-)

  16. Could those on here capable of seeing ten years into the future give me the winner

of the 15.00 @ Hereford? Only three runners so should be well within your capabilities.

    Thanks in advance!

Watched a movie last night called “Munich – The Edge of War” about the I’ll fated 1938 conference.

My thoughts were immediately drawn to this upcoming trip by Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson (son of Monsieur Stanley Johnson).

I wonder if someone from the Russian, ahem, “diplomatic corps” might (before the trip) send our PM some photographs from a party event that might, er, focus his mind on what he has to do.

    ###

Ireland was an oppressed nation. It was partitioned against the wishes of the population. It should be reunited.

Scotland is not an oppressed nation.

Scotland was an active and enthusiastic participant in imperialism and colonialism. It benefitted just as much, if not more, from empire building as England did.

That should be your starting point for any rational consideration.

It’s beyond disgusting that Scot Nats are trying to piggyback on another people’s suffering and exploit events like Bloody Sunday to further their own agenda. I appreciate that a lot of them are as thick as mince and don’t know their arse from their elbow about history, whether Sottish or Irish, and others of them have lost any grip on reality and exist in a world of delusional fantasy. But there must be some of them who realise what they are doing. They are beneath contempt.

  20. History you say. Very interesting.

I’m sure you all know that after the battle of Bannockburn, Robert the Bruce sent his younger brother Edward to invade Ireland.

1314 is a date stamped in Scottish history, but what about 1315.????

  21. One union

    A myriad of excusery

Now if you don’t keep to the confines of said murderous and vile union you are piggy backing.

    Vomit

Now remember to keep within the confines of that unions cruelty,no one is allowed to use that cruelty other than those who now redact and suffer from amnesia when applying it.eh fack off wi that vermin.

Remember when quoting your stats on Catholics your union shot Catholics.

  22. I was happy to see Brendan back at Celtic Park on Saturday. We were lucky to have him, albeit for such a short time.

We were good for each other and he owes us nothing.

He ‘swept the boards’ domestically, with an ‘invincible’ thrown in – led us to two Champions League qualifications – was the catalyst for a big upswing in season-ticket numbers – left a legacy of professionalism & momentum within the playing & coaching staff, which resulted in further honours……and even paid back most, if not all, of his Celtic salary with a £9m transfer fee.

You are always welcome in my eyes, Brendan. I hope(trust) that I speak for the vast majority of Celtic fans. Had we been plying our trade in the EPL, perhaps he would still be here.

  23. Gp

Yep some 200 years after the first English invaded.

And some 200 years after Gerald of Wales slandered the Irish and dehumanised them in what is seen as the origins of racism.

History is for all not selective and for the few.

Racism and redactive memory comes easily to a 1000 year old cruelty machine

  24. Souttar misses training today. Think he’ll be there on Wednesday.

As for Aaron Ramsey, Juve are trying to punt him out on loan and Sevco have asked how much of his wages they need to pay. So says Italian media
