  1. West Wales Celt on

These guys need to score 2 in Sweden and they will br relying on Mo to get those goals.

    Confident but not complacent…

  2. Guys, guys, guys,

before you all get too worked up about the Elfsborg physios, did you not spot the shoes they were wearing? I don’t think men are their thing …..

  3. Cant see us not getting through. We are a much better team than them, and we will score over there for sure.

In saying that, less high balls, less falling over and less greediness would be good.

  4. Happy with the result if not the performance, although it was much improved after Joe replaced Beram.

We won’t lose in Sweden. Elfsborg were very cynical and Bangura trying to get Wilson booked just sums him up and he should never kick another ball for Celtic.

Relieved more than jubilant, but after that shocking first half, we have to be reasonably content.

Sounds like a typical early season qaulifier where we do ourselves no favours by starting our annual rebuilding job. When they step out we will take advantage. Neils teams have always been good at away games. The question is will we but the qaulity striker before AND if we qaulify for it properly ?

Well done lenny and the bhoys and the CQN updaters

    SUFNLANLO

  6. Only followed the game on CQN,seems like they didn’t threaten too much and we should be capable of an away goal, any links to the goal or the swedes physios appearance

  7. Commons motm for me.

Wilson, Ambrose and Lustig 9/10 Izzy not at his best but some magical moments.

Stokes….. flatters to decieve as does creepin’ jesus.

    We NEED a striker

    Midfield, Aye OK. Seen worse

  8. We should be sharper next week and we have 3 new players who could play. We will need Sammi and Commons. I thought Forest and stokes were below par and Kayal was miles off the pace. 1 -0 should be enough as I feel we can score over there. Defence looked shaky at times but they had 1 good chance and big Fraser got a hand to it

  9. That wiz the Maist One-Sided C.L. game.. Ah hiv seen.

We wur in Full Command that Whole Game

Awe they hid tae offer wiz.. Constant and Really Rough Fouling of oor Players

Ah wull be surprised if a Loata oor guys didnae pick up injuries.. The Tackles of th Swedes were Flying, Tonight, aweright..

    Dirty Pool..

    Ah Hate that!

    Happy and Content.

  10. Also, Don’t think we’ll ever see Bangura back in the hoops after his antics.

He definately didn’t endear himself to the fans.

  11. I’ll take 1-0. They looked an average outfit and we looked the better team with better players without being outstanding. We matched them fitness wise. At 1-0 I think the ties still on a knife edge unless we can score early doors over there.

Game passed young Forrest bye tonight, stuck out on that right wing, although he did win us some corners with his pace. Agree with the above, Samaras (MoM), Kris K and Izzy looking back close to his best. Was it an audacious bit of skill from Izzy in our box in the 1st half, or did he just get lucky??

Ref a bit card happy tonight I thought.

  12. NatKnow - "We welcome the paper-chase..." on

Thanks for the CQN updates Bhoys – vital!

Well done to Lenny and the team – another good result in Europe!

Hoping we’ll wrap it up in Sweden.

Are you saying that they indulge in my second-favourite spectator sport? Even better…

  14. Joe Filippis Haircut on

We need a striker that was obvious Stokes struggled tonight. The new Dutch lad could be an asset next week. I also thought we played the ball backwords to often James Forrest needs to believe in himself a bit more.I think we need to stifle the midfield in the away game and hit them on the break it is going to be a hard night.H.H.

  15. Saw 2nd half only. Last year it was tougher with Helsinki. Sami and Commons very good. Joe meant difference. Bangura is clown . Hope 2c new flying Dutch on sat and next week in Sweden as well. A very good result for Legia in Norway – congrat Zbyszek. Did Kucjak play? Good night ;)

  16. Best in 1st half, all over them in 2nd, will pick them off over there, very confident.

Commons, Samaras, Ambrose all excellent tonight.

  17. We are in a better position than last year when if we had conceded a goal – we would have needed to score 2. Now we only need a scoring draw to go through.

Pretty sure we will be better prepared – sharper + have a funny feeling the new bhoy Derk may well be unleashed on them as we play counter-attacking football.

4 days a week. I tend to drink in town. Ryans muddy boot and Molly Malones if not in beer gardens

  19. 2nd half a big improvement. The extra week should benefit us. Hopefully Derk makes an instant impression and adds to our fire power. It will be a different game over there, they will have to come forward more. Very confident we can score over there. The clean sheet was huge tonight. As Tom said relieved more then jubilant.

  20. See the Stokes bashers have started early. He had a couple of poor touches as did a lot of other players, he took a greedy shot when a pass was the better option but was all over the park looking for the ball ,had a great FK saved by the keeper, played Sammi through on goal with a fantastic bit of skill. I think we should beasking why our forwards have so little opportunity – how many decent crosses into the box were there how many defence splitting passes? Stokes maybe isn’t the best striker and he is no Henke but lets not get the pitchforks out just yet.

  21. Joe came on and gave us a boost at the right time;

    Never thought that a Swedish team would be blatant dirty hun barstewards;

    Ref weak and inconsistent.

    We should go through.

Oh, and Mo, don’t even think about darkening our door again – just GTF.

  22. Next Week:

    Georgie up front

Derk Commons Ledley Broonie Wee James

    Same back 4

    FF

    Will do the business

  23. stephenpollock on

Celtic definitely better team and only (lack of) match fitness saved Elfsborg from a more comprehensive defeat. Plastic pitch suites quick breakaway and (if) we score we should be through. I worry about our front line though. Samara is different class, Stokes (on other hand) seems lacking when it comes to games out with SPL or Friendlies. Lacks the pace or composure for breakaway football. I would play one up front in Sweden (Watt) and keep Samaras on left.

  24. A win is a win, well take that.

As for a centre forward im just back from turkey tonight any news on poss signing?

I agree JF didn’t have a banner day today… but I’m not sure that it is entirely his fault.

For JF to be successful, he needs to use his pace… which he is coming from deep so that he has space to run at a player … or more usually, q quick outlet pass into space and letting him use his pace to get by a defender.

But, our build up is glacial …. when we get the ball, the wide players (including JF) move forward, but stop because (i) our midfield holds onto the ball too long, and (ii) if the wide players dont stop they willl be offside by the time the ball is played to them.

Rather, the wingers run like hell, stop, turn around, at which point (i) they ball is played to them, but (ii) they are stationary, and a defender is on them.

I’m not sure we can criticize JF, if the team doesn’t play in a way that allows them to participate fully.

    Just my observation….

  27. Happy enough, I posted on here this morning that any victory will do.

We need to score over there I think and I believe we will.

    We’ll improve again for Sat

    HH

Ps I did say also we always win when I get the podium (thumbs up)
