    Kelvinbhoy

Tony Martin (trainer) is in great form this week

He has the Fav (Ted Veale) in the Galway Hurdle tomorrow but he also has an interesting one down the weights which has been backed.Thomas Edison (owned by JP MacManus with McCoy riding) My mate knows Martin so I hope to get word, but no doubt he will say “ah sure have an each way on both”

I will post in the morning

    Listen

The reason he is not playing for Wolves is because they wont pay his wages

If you dont make the first team you dont get the big whack (remember what Celtic did with Bobo) Its nothing to do with his ability,he is a much better player than Stokes

    ==

No desire to get into a who is the better player debate and if Doyle signs and if he is a good as you rate him, that is has to at least equal Stokes goal per game average in one season, I will indeed proffer an appropriate apology. However regardless of the wage structure at Wolves given they are looking for peanuts money wise by the standards of English football and given he is such an, alleged, talent why haven’t any other teams shown an interest in acquiring his services.

  3. Sorry guys, can someone send me Paul’s email. I keep losing it! Would be much appreciated.

  4. I’m not sure about Stokes.

When he is on form he would finish chances.

Even when he is on form though I don’t think his touch is good enough for European football.

  5. James lacks one of two things, football intelligence or confidence, I’m just not sure which it is, he seems to spend a lot of time on the edge of the game, he offers little to a midfield trying to play against a hardworking dirty midfield like tonights and until we have a midfielder whose passing can cut a team open we will always play across the park and down the wings.

I thought we were decent tonight considering where we are in the season and I believe we will knock Elfsborg out next week…

Pirlo was right it’s bonkers that we have to play such important games before our season has even kicked off…

  6. BIG-CUP-WINNERS on

We are getting there. Felt Celtic, even at this early stage, had too much for them. Big Samaras was great again and the one class act we had. Commons was good, but he needs to work harder in my opinion. He and Celtic would reap the reward.

Overall, we deserved more than the 1 goal margin. We also need some of the guys to attack a cross. Emelio did cross with his right foot for the goal didn’t he ?

How did the Elfsborg fans get those tickets ?

  7. Awe_Naw_No_Annoni_Oan_Anaw_Noo on

    For the next game ?

    Next round ?

    Europe league ?

    Or CL ?

  8. Ghordybhoy – your right it would have been a very noisy blog if we got beat – and deservedly so. Do I need to remind you that we sold our two best players before this game?

None of that means we are desparate for Celtic to lose just so we can moan about it.

I can find plenty of other things to moan about without that!

  9. WITS,

was out and didn’t realise Galway started so early today so I missed Blackmail, had a few quid on Carlingford Lough and passed it onto a couple of boys in the pub too, would have been nice to have the double but in fairness I would have lost a few quid on Dawn Approach had I been in the bookies earlier

  10. GlassTwoThirdsFull on

1-0 at home – good result. We’ll score in the second leg. They won’t get three.

Next round will be tougher though.

  11. Evening just back from game, we were comfortable throughout without ever looking like scoring too many ,1-0 ,should be enough , as i think we will score over there and I can’t see them scoreing 3.

Sami and Commons looking like they are going to be our key creative players this season , felt Izzy and Beram are getting back to their best.

If Forest offer 2 mil for Kelvin I would take it , we have cover for him

Roll on Saturday and the Kano collection and Ross County game. Hail Hail

  12. Tom McLaughlin

Times have changed, the coaching now is/or should be more intense.Young Forrest is a talent, but there is something sadly lacking in his progress.Who is to blame?Lenny keeps picking him, why?has he got a blind spot for his Discovery?

  13. Team played well and got better as the game went on.

We suffered in the first half from match sharpness. Ledley tightened us up and urged us on when he appeared.

If we played like that after 16/17 games against a team in pre season CQN would be in revolt.

Happy tonight and i believe we can push on from here.

  14. What is the Stars on

    Oglach

You are right, silly argument of course

Believe it or not it was your use of OMG that got me riled

    Thats just me being silly

Anyway I think Doyle is a very good honest hardworking pro

He is much higher up the international centre forward ladder with Ireland than Stokes

He had a decent couple of years with the Wolves in the EPL (much as we might hate it as an overhyped league it is a higher standard than the SPL)

Between injuries and relegation things havent gone well for him

He would seize this chance with both hands

We should have went for Shane Long a couple of years ago but Doyle would be good

My opnion,he is a better player than Stokes and Hooper

  15. NegAnon2,

you make a fair point about selling our best 2 players,i was just making the point that a number of people are quick to criticise but aint so keen to come on and congratulate the team on a good result,it want aimed at you or anyone in particular

  16. Jude

celtic were advising everyone from the crack of dawn this morning to get to ticket office early and to expect queues.

I understand plenty of people work and have to leave it late but celtic cannot be panned for it, thanks to their advice I headed in early spent 20min in queue and there was 10 windows selling tickets ,I was delighted with turnout tonight, I thought there was over 40,000.

  17. jude2005 is Neil Lennon \o/ on

I cot abt 14mins of the game then it shut down but what I saw of Wilson & Effe worried me no end. Wilsons attempts at controlling the ball is the most worrying!!

  18. Neganon,

Both players you mention wanted to leave. Celtic did wonders to sell Hooper for over £5 million and Victor for £12 million. The club have been looking for a striker. A lot of people condemned Celtic for pre-season results yet we appear to have been as fit as the Swedish mob. Incidentally, ‘being fit’ is one of the few compliments I have heard being directed to the hapless ones.

  19. Well done to all spesh sammi and kris

Sounded like poor if not shoite standard of officials the kris booking particularly evenshortbread said so

Bangura ..,..fair enuff son do yer best for the team you play for….. however dont try to cheat then applaud the hoops fans……. best hope that the swedes need a bus driver you should apply now and dont bother coming back to us

Truth be told if you had offered a win to nil before the game I would have taken it

    Slan and ghod bless

  20. I thought that was a professional performance against an over physical team who packed the midfield and simply punted the ball long. We kept our discipline.

The Referee was inconsistent, I’m being nice there.

Well done Celtic, they will have to open up a bit in Sweden, enough to be piced of by Celtic.

And the crowd excelled again, we were brilliant.

  21. Oops, that reads badly. Of course I mean to say that the Swedes are the hapless ones!

  22. What is the Stars on

    Gordybhoy

    Dawn approach cost me too

But I was worried about Hughes being so confident on on Toronado so I included him in doubles and trebles with Blackmail and Magic City and Carlingford and another Tony Martin horse Victrix Gale that I got word on

I cleared a nice profit today

  23. CultsBhoy loves being 1st forever & ever on

I think we’ll see one or both of Boerrigter and Balde getting game time next week, but I think we’ll go through the tie regardless.

We really are absent a striker who knows the craft, and a clever player who knows the game behind him. I think we’ll get the striker, but will rely on young Rogic for the imagination, something he’s unlikely to be ready for just yet.

BTW, for those who are giving young Forrest pelters, he played fairly well tonight, but let himself down with his crossing, something that will come good in early course.

What he’s really lacking though is the players in central mid who know how to make the pass to the running man.

Guy on ssb panning Celtic for thousands waiting outside before k o. Any of u Bhoys got complaints?

No complaints, but have an observation. Some of the turnstiles are very busy; others empty. The club and police can, with a little organisation, co-ordinate this better.

For example, entry points 150-152 are always packed, whilst the adjacent lower tier, entry points (behind the GB) is generally quite. It’s the same in other areas.

  27. John O’Neill – regardless of the money obtained for selling our best two players we DID sell our two best players ahead of the most criticial game of the season…..thats never particularly clever IF you are ambitious.

  31. THE EXILED TIM 22:37 on 31 July, 2013

He should have put that chance away in the first min, had he done so………..

From where I was sitting, he was attempting to score from an impossibly tight angle and on his weak foot.

He should have cut it back.

The heart attack moment was in the second half when KW tried to walk the ball out of our box after a bit of scramble, Ambrose then tries to take it off him, KW then back heals it across the box in front of the goal!!

If the board needed a reminder we need to strengthen, it was right there in front of them tonight to see.

    —————————–

You have thought about this but not enough.

We offered both improved terms and I believe we did this more than once. They refused and both indicated they wanted away (NL tweeted that hoops said in germany he wanted away)

Do you hold back the sale knowing that they will both want to stay injury free and that means not giving 100%.

    Sell them every time.
