Interesting listening to young Hazard he said that he had he and Woodsy were practicing penalties and worked on a few things. This is nothing new as this is what you should expect, now can we have someone do this with the defence as well? Regardless of the set up and who is playing surely there needs to be the simple things well drilled into them and the game takes care of itself. Not for the first time, we let Hearts in, even in the first half when we were comfortable, by our own doing, careless passing and overdoing out of defence. I’m not sure who posted it earlier but the needless free kicks we give away both yesterday and all season; opposition player going nowhere near the goal line or touch line, he stops and one of our players barges into the back of him, how stupid is this?!
Anyway we have issues as a team and with the management/coaching set up but we are the Quadruple Treble winners, never to be beaten!!

Yeah, by all accounts Craig Gordon is very decent guy so I don’t think we can too hard on him for showing a bit of petulance after Eddie’s penalty.
That’s good to hear. Craig Gordon sounds like one of life’s good guys – even if he has an ability to wind us up at times.

Does anyone have links to the penalties yesterday?
I saw Ajer’s and the celebrations yesterday but couldn’t watch until we had opportunity for score to win.
I was convinced Gordon would finally find penalty form in his old age and win it for them.
Coneybhoy on
Brilliant result yesterday and some great performances e.g., AJer, hazard
Some horrendous perfs too, but some of those guys stepped up near the end and in penalties
Loved celebrating and a bit woozy today
On the boring side: Lennon, Duffy and brown still need to go. Nothing changed yesterday. We still have massive problems in terms of the league and moving forwards. Good to see MJ back but a complete panic sending him on
Bhoy From The Boyne on
Really hope Leigh Griffiths gets plenty of game time over xmas/new year period.
He could be the difference of 2-3 points.
dessybhoy on
We had that game won at half time yesterday, we fell out of it quickly in the second half, their first goal Ajer gets outpaced by his man who lobbed him ran onto the ball got close to the box before passing, once close to the box it was AC milan again no tackles, after you claude, allowing halliday to put a cross in which found Duffy out of position and instead of steeping back to jump he tried to reach it from a standing jump.
Their second was a foul on Hazzard, Naismith took him into the net but he needs to be much stronger in these scenarios, but I have mentioned it several times the opposition get the ball acroos our 6 yrd box regularly from open play and set pieces, nothing is getting done to address this .
The keeper sold himself at the 3rd goal, he ended up with his back to their player facing his own goal.
He did well at the penalty saves.
Eduard cannot keep passing up the chances he is, he shoots straight at goal , hitting defenders or the keeper, his confidence in finishing looks shattered, the penalty was a nightmare way to casual.
Ely needs removed from the team he contributes nothing and gets in the way cant track back or tackle.
Ajer had a good first half, Taylor gets stuck in but is too small his crossing is woeful, Brown battled ,Turnbull showed classy touches and the guy is a good player, Christie goal apart, nothing, no creation no dig, McGregor was also quiet, so the midfield was Brown and Turnbull.
We need 11 contributers on the park, we arent getting it and the defensive middle of Jullien and Duffy was typified with the way the got into each others space with neither playing the ball allowing them a great chance which Hazzard saved, not every team will pass that chance up even here.
For a team with a weeks preparation behind it it didnt look as if we used that time well, relieved and happy to have won the Cup and with it the Quad Treble but we nearly blew that, not because Hearts were good but because we couldn’t handle their physicality and desire, that is not acceptable.
So the players were having a few beers last night according to the manager, so lets hope for a better 90 minutes on Wednesday night.
I know what you mean, although I wasnt drinking, but I went from being a fresh faced young 65 Year Old just on the Saturday…to feeling like a 95 year old Nervous wreck on the Sunday afternoon, Shouting at my Telly and those Huns on display and the Hun commentators…and one or Two Celtic players for not doing the Basics…especially French Eddy for missing excellent chances to bury that Mini Hun mob !
Neil Lennon said that the Players would probably have a few Beers last night….I DEMAND to know WHERE ?
Do they know any Pub that is open and selling Beer…I DEMAND to know names LOL !
Whisper this, but did the players have a few Beers inside Celtic Park last night while NOT actually PAYING for any Beers so as to observe Covid/ Hospitality rules ?
If we play one up front its is not OE – LG and PL in my view better when we play one up front
If we play 2 up front it’s OE and one other
but Eddy on his own – waste of space

All the criticism of Eddie , I feel, is not fair. WHY, did you see how happy he was to score, so it’s not that he has a lip on, it’s because he has no support with him up front. If we played Messi up front on his own we’d still be in the same place. FFS. play two strikers Neil.
and while while you do that , send Duffy back to the south coast today, useless
What I’d give for a Mjallby or Reiper, or Paul Elliot now
We must not let the achievement of what we’ve done b overlooked, fantasctic, BUT, let’s look at the performance of our defence
It bonkers that we have played 2 out and our strikers up front so seldom this season. Play another striker, not Ely or Christie.
We went in our run after Xmas last year when we played 2 up top.
ziggydoc1 on
I’d talked myself round to thinking we could still win the league, before yesterday. However, we don’t. OK better coaching would help but we are still short. I like big duffy but if we’re paying him £40k a week, then that could be better used in new recruits. Ajer has been good in the last few games but is he our long term RB? Wee Taylor, love his effort but he is not physically strong enough and hits the guy directly in front of him too often. Hazard did well at the penalties but I though he was poor throughout with lockouts on a par with Gordon. Get Barkas in goal, laxalt and another striker from now on need to be ready to recruit straight away, if we are staying with the management team.
