Congratulation to Kenny Sheils and Kilmarnock F.C.
Celtic created enough chances to win the game twice over yet a combination of good goalkeeping, woeful finishing and debateable refereeing cost us the game. Celtic is a far superior club to Kilmarnock and the players have let the Club, Neil Lennon and the fans down today. Just how must Neil Lennon be feeling after the week he’s had? You’d think on this day of all days the players would have given their all for the manager. Couple of worrying points for me, Wilson seems to cause panic in the defence, for me Mulgrew and Rogne are our best pairing, I’d move Wilson on. Central midfield needs a creative player whether it is Commons, Ki or McCourt, we must make room, either that or play Sammy wide left. Away to like my wounds, just getting fed up with these failures in cups and leagues, I hope Lennon asks his player, just what have you won? You see getting over the line is the most difficult part, we see to have a flaw there and it’s worrying.

Kilmarnock’s name was clearly on the Cup, and with hindsight Gary Hooper’s miss in the first minutes, just about sealed our fate, the game itself panned out very differently to our last Cup Final
where the difference was Ki Seung scored to put us ahead in the first half.
Celtic were on a hiding to nothing today big team v wee team, the Rangers fiasco, as a backdrop
and understandable reluctance to change front players, that said there were a few Celtic players today, who played very poorly and let Neil Lennon and the support down.
Insistence on playing men that are off form helped cost us a cup, and introducing Kelvin Wilson who was unconvincing throughout, was as baffling, why Neil Lennon starts Wanyama in midfield then switches him to centre back. It’ll also be posted ad nauseum, but dropping Samaras was another mystery, wrapped in an enigma.
I won’t go looking for the highlights but Victor Wanyama’s chastising of Tony Stokes for the controversy at the end, mirrors my own thoughts on why Stokes hadn’t got his shot away, to score or not whatever the case may have been.
Sadly this was an identical to something I’ve seen Stokes do before at Celtic Park – he didn’t get the penalty then either, and even it had been stonewall Tony should know, Collum wasn’t going to give it anyway.
Neil Lennon really does want to rest James Forrest, and its time to let Hooper and Stokes get there hunger and sharpness back whilst on the bench, which leads me to Samaras up front on his own at Ibrokes.

Congratulations Killie, they beat us in Glasgow at last.
As so many are saying tonight it is good for the game that other teams have their Hampden in the Sun. Paul said in his forecast yesterday, Kilmarnock have done us all a favour by beating Rangers twice this season and that victory at Ibrox when Rangers were trying to rally their storm troopers was a Killie killer blow!!. A winning team can cover up a multitude of sins, look at Barça and Madrid in Spain, who owe the taxman a fortune, but success on the park in front of other multitudes of people keep you immune from prosecution.
For the good of Scottish football Rangers´ loss of shape, or should I say fabric, has coincided with some plucky performances from other cash-strapped Scottish clubs. If I am ever asked the question will Scottish football survive without Rangers, I say “Survive?, It will Strive.”
Martin O´Neill´s trebles are of course part of Celtic folklore and it would have been great to win three trophies with one already in the bag. Nevertheless my feeling is that the term Treble is a tacky mid seventies Rangers invention. The term double had become famous in England through Tottenham in ´61 and Arsenal in ´71. Between those years, in 1967 precisely, Celtic won the FOUR main trophies and exhausted all the superlatives. We are still waiting for recognition but as the song goes, what the hell do we care?

First up, Kenny Shiels: What a terrific achievement for a Good Guy. If Celtic weren’t the opposition today I’d be delighted.
Next, Kelvin Wilson: Lenny bought him. Lenny chose him today. I’ve yet to see why. Offers little in possession, is prone in defence, and transparently at fault for the goal today.
Following upon, the Team: Guys, winning isn’t a mater of just turning up. It’s not a matter of luck. It is a mentality. Winners win. You lost because you decided not to win.
And…Team Selection: Didn’t work. It was cautious, unimaginative, drole. Forrest was the only threat from midfied, and he had a poor game. The others just did what they generally do, which is in the main solid, ball retaining, drollery.
And then, Penalty/Not Penalty: Stokes was in the position to strike. There was a minute of added time left. He was 8 yards from the goal. He chose not to miss. Victor Wanyama was ready to wallop Stokes. Wanyama’s reaction is more telling than the referee’s decision.
And finally…: This was the youngster’s first Cup Final. I know, and you know, there will be many more to come for him. He doesn’t. And tomorrow he goes to school to search out the company of the 3 other kids in his year who are not Rangers fans. In real time I thought it was a penalty but when I saw Big Vic giving Stokes a slap I realised that Vic knew what had gone down and wanted to skelp Stokes for going down rather than shooting.
Hoops and Joe missed sitters, keeper made some good saves but quality finishing would have had us up by 3 or 4.
