    Patrick,

The League will be won regardless and I dont care if its the Huns,St Johnstone or whoever we beat to win it.Its a National trophy and had we won today you would have been on gloryfying our win as part of the Treble.Be honest.Hate this nonsense about losing. We had a massive support there today bitterly disappointed.

Oh of course I would have been loving it! But just to prevent me from being depressed all week I’ll just tell myself it was only the mickey mouse cup and God has plans for a double this season :)

    HH

  2. Eight more wins and Celtic will have 99 points!

Anyone for Flakes with their ice cream?

Went off for a walk for an hour after the game, just didn’t want to go into my usual spiral of depression after Cup final defeats. Back for the start of my rehab on CQN. I thought Hooper’s attempt after 4 mins was v poor, that was the trophy right there if he had scored. Real sore one today, hope Lenny uses today to build his ever expanding managerial knowledge. Win at Ibrox and the pain will be long gone. HH

  4. First time poster, long time lurker.

We had a bad day at the office today but that’s all it was.

I’m still very proud of all of our young players and the heights they’ve reached

this season(Although i knew K Wilson was a dud from the start).

Time to give some of them a well earned rest what with champions leauge

    games comming early.

We have a big squad so let some others get their chance.

    HAIL HAIL.

  5. prestonpans bhoys on

I need to be banned from these League cup finals, I’ve only been to two that we have won and god knows how many defeats.

Anyway lets hope I’m dancing next week at the bigotdome:)

  6. San d. I do agree sir

Charlie and Thomas have done well

But I thing center halfs are important

To play Wilson weakens our whole decency

Wilson was mince at forest , their fans said , he had no pace, would not attack a ball and was poor

    Rogne is only 20

Sammi Wilson attempt at their goal was poor, but what you would expect of Wilson :(

  7. A disappointing end to what has been an impressive unbeaten run by this young side – a Cup Final is not the day to turn in a poor performance.

When the Team are playing well its easier to carry one or two players who are under performing – unfortunately today more than half of them had a poor day.

Can’t understand why Sammi didn’t start or why he was not brought on earlier – he could have replaced any one of the front three at half-time?

Why play Forrest on the left – he failed to get beyond the defence and make a telling cross and he can’t handle a 50/50 tackle?

Midfield never got to grips with the game – though Ki made a difference when he came on – the two other subs were made too late IMO.

As for the pen – I was in-line with it (looked a cert though I have not seen a replay). Though Stokes should have taken the shot earlier (as soon as he controlled the ball) and the defender would not have got to him.

For some reason we went with a format today that I can’t recall us using previously – if you move a few players about and the Team under performs then advantage is handed to your opponents.

The only positive I can take out of today is – that maybe a few other teams will take a look at how Kenny Shields tries to play the game and how he got his reward for it today.

Not the end of the world – time to pick up the pieces and concentrate on wrapping up the league and applying a bit of concentration on getting to the SCF in May.

    H!H!

  8. St Martin De Porres on

    God i hate hampden

some spot on points regarding Wanyama reaction to Stokes post pen claim. Complelety agree with a player displaying loss of confidence

Anyway regardless of tatics players were jyst poor.Cant get my head around Rogne sub although i assume he was injured but not first time we have substituted the back 4 for no reason.

Expectations can cloud your focus. Too many just turned up expecting.

Finally. To the Alloa so called Celtic supporters bus memebers who refused to sit during the game after repeated requests and forced 3 OAP’s to eventually leave the ground. Your named and shamed and i hope personally never to come across you again

Heads up and focus on this Sunday

  9. BSR

    Goodyin.

    Straight from the heart.

    Credibility without pretention.

  10. Basic facts Kilmarnock played as a team had their tactics spot on and took their chance well when it was presented,

congrats to them, and unlike some others they did not try to kick us off the park.

As far as the Killie keeper….he did what he had to do, and well albiet IMO

all but one of the efforts were direct at him, a keeper of good standing should in theory handle that.

Stokes header in first half was the real class save.

Forget about refereeing decisions, watering the pitch, the League Cup Hoodoo, NL wearing a suit, the grey strip ….

Our coaching Staff got it wrong and how many players can honestly say they performed.

Did they all believe all we had to do was turn up?.

  11. Just back in from Hampden- wrong team selection and poor choice of tactics meant we played poorly throughout- and despite that we had enough chances to hammer them- too many people thought we just had to turn up today- next weeks game will show us whether this squad have the bottle to win big games

It wont be anything to do about heads up etc.at Ibrox next week.

Get Wilson out,Forrest on the right Sami on the left and Brown and Ledley in mid.

If thats not the set up I think we’re in danger again.

  13. Anyone on here trying to conceptualise our defeat as ANYTHING which could be construed as a positive in relation to the Govanites is a fool.

We choked again in a league cup final – 11 year ago henrik scored a hat trick.

It’s not a bad thing to have wished we had won.

    Poor formation. Poor performance.

And before everybody starts mythologising their keepers performance?

Everything he saved was saveable – his job basically. Celtic did nothing beyond his remit.

We did ourselves down – AGAIN!!!!!

    Top 6 – Bottom 6 – Baws booted

Set up wrong – performed wrong and ignored the proper need for change.

  14. I’m still for winning the league at Celtic Park with my young in, my bro’s 2 youngin’s and my buddy’s young in all there to see and enjoy after today’s massive disappointment. My nephew was in tears for 10 mins after Killie scored.

Only winning the league at Celtic Park will make that up to him.

    We’ll win next week.

But I hope Motherwell beat Killie

    Saint Patrick Gallagher,

Not from Derry but live here

Young lad from Derry living in Jersey (Mathews) plumber by trade, died last night scaling a wall because he lost his keys. Football scores matter, but not that much!

  16. Only my second post. I’m not blaming neil lennon, but the desire just wasn’t there today, the referee was poor , so he didn’t let me down in any way, buisness as usual as far as i’m concerned. roll on next week so we can

give the huns a proper doing.

  17. We deserved nothing out of that game today.

Fair play to killie, took advantage of a poor Celtic.

    Lubo.

  18. In a pre match interview Neill said he’s not starting

Sammi because he hadn’t participated in the earlier LC

matches and thought it only fair to go with those

players who had.He added that Sammi

would for sure be brought on at some stage

    during the game.

If only he had made the decision to do so a lot earlier

Ah well, beidh ár lá linn go luath

  19. Awful end to what had been a mega weekend! Kilmarnock wanted that more than us and deserved their win.

I hope everyone who doesn’t see what Sammi gives the team can work it out now, 100% commitment and never hides. Pity half the team today didn’t have the same attitude. Hoops and stokes showed today how limited they can be at times. Sorry Gary but an epl quality striker would have buried that chance today. Tony why did you not hit the ball as soon as victor knocked it down to you? 70-80% effort against a team you knew would run and harry all day long was criminal. You let the support down big time today guys.

Can someone tell me why Rogne went off and Wilson stayed on? Guy makes a 3 legged donkey look fast.

P.S. I hate the league cup has brought me so much misery over the years, let’s play our under 19’s next year and see who’s ready to make the step up.

  20. The one consolation that I would take from today’s defeat…

At least it wizny the corrupt, tax-dodging, scumbags

    who beat us!!!

Well done Kenny Sheilds and his team.

    A TRUE Gentleman! IMO!

Off to watch The Quiet Man.

    I mean it this time.

    Adios CQNer’s

    God Bless.

    Ulysses ,

And all the reasons why the questions should be directed at Lennon.

We had Forrest,Ledley and Wanyama all jammed like sardines on the left and Brown on his jack on the right totally isolated. It was a total shambles

Youre right too about Cammy Bell..With the exception of Stokes header every shot or header was straight at him.

  22. Moonbeams WD

Looking like st Johnstone to me anyway. Killie will have a massive downer after this and probably won’t win again for weeks. Let’s get the result we need next week to get the party hats out on April 1st. I feel for your nephew it’s horrible losing when your a kid stays with you for days.

  23. Agent Craig "Green and" Whyte!! on

Im not one for bashing the players after games but there is one thing that burst ny chops.

When we have a direct freekick with AS and CM standing over it.If AS hits the wall with his attempt then he doesn’t get to hit the wall with the next attempt.

On a better note M’well away to Killie next weekend so here’s hoping today gives them the lift to take something even a draw.

Then its jelly an icecream at the bigot dome.

    I am a fool then.

A vibrant game of football won by a team that never conceded a goal in the whole competition that does not come from Glasgow is a good advert for the Scottish game and puts to bed the argument that we need a strong Rangers.

When was the last time Kilmarnock won the LC ?

Can people explain to me why they would take defeat today in a Cup Final just to win a meaningless game next week? Sorry but that utter baffles me.

    ==================================================

Explain? Well, maybe I would like to see my team pump the last vestiges of hope and ambition out of yours next Sunday, rather than perform the classic Hun dellusion that the League Cup, the most meaningless of Scotland’s baubles and of no value to anything other than trophy counts and the first part of a treble, is the be-all and end-all.

Whereas, slaughtering the final tepid ensemble hustled out of the creaking Edminston Drive cowshed, the crumbling edifice of 140 years of institutionalised bigotry which has contributed the fuel to countless fires of hate and intolerance that have cost countless families grief, immesurable suffering and loss across all our lifetimes – well, that would give me such immense satisfaction, yes.

Happily trade a non-event cup final for a single dazzling merciless goal-fest and see them on their kneess on pitch and in stands weeping for the end.

    Enjoy the game.

    St Patricks,

TBH mate dont know anyone of that surname. That is awful.

He may have been from the county rather than the city?

  28. I’m bemused by the comments on Wilson’s lack of pace. I think he is the fastest of all our back line.

There was a point in the first half when Kilmarnock lumped a ball down our left wing which Rogne and a Killie player chased after. Wilson came from a distance away and easily got to the ball first.

He may have been at fault for the goal but not as much as Ki for not tracking his man.

However, IMO, the culprits today were not at the back but those who spurned the chances at goal.
