I think Neil is being left high and dry by the board. I don’t mean financially as i think he received sufficient funds in the summer. I also think it is time he left with dignity, however where are the board in all this? We have not heard a peep from them all season. Boligolli incident, players having to go away on international duty, rumours of players wanting away, lack of decent coaching, poor medical advice a whole number of things they could have helped clarify and not have Neil having to answer for everything. I’m all for letting the kids make their own mistakes, no too enamel urged by the idea they are being corralled.
All of the incidents you raised were examples of individuals and spontaneous events, something about tonight stinks.
As I said, originally ther crowd were wanting PLs head, it suddenly changed to wanting NLs head, why was PL omitted so quickly? Is that not suspicious to you?
Agreed. The part where he suggested that we might need to start working on set-plays to me was a massive admission of incompetence from him and his staff in recent months.”
—————————–
This is one of the reasons why managerial interviews rarely give us what we are looking for. After a defeat, most people are tuning in with a “waiting to pounce” attitude, looking for the first mis-speak, careless wording or an explanation that sounds like an excuse. If the manager fails to provide any of that, we can just invent things or hear our own version of what was said.
I listened to the Premier Sports post-match interview and Neil, quite simply, did not say we will need to “start” anything. He did say he would have to change it but the interviwer knows and most fans know that these things have been worked at seriously at our club and , indeed all senior clubs.
The interviewre framed the question in a friendly way, knowing that Celtic do, and always have done, regular practice on set plays.
The interviewer asked “Is that something- I mean particularly set plays- because I think that’s been going on for years- long before your time- is that something you, specifically, constantly work on?”
And, in Neil’s reply he says ” yeah, well I think we may have to look at CHANGING the way we set up at corners- its a system thats worked for a long time- predominantly successfully- I thought we were very good at it last year but,, if you go over the course of the season so far, I for my own days, under MON, you live and die on set plays- I keep hammering that home to them but they keep switching off”
You can hear the excahnge from around 2.14 in to this video
Neil knows that the system SHOULD have coped with the threat Ross County posed. Ajer, for example spotted the front post run and tried to stop it but he failed- that’s not a sytem fault that’s an operator error. Similarly, there were plenty of players at the back post to stop Iacovetti getting there but none succeeded- again an operator error. The only fault I saw in the system set up there is the recurring one that Scott Brown is usually marking someone too tall for him- that we could lay at the coaching door- but all else was player error.

NL got a fright (as we did) when the Huns beat us at home and were top of the league 9 was under threat
The winter break had us going for it – but at the same time the Huns imploded
covid arrived and we got to 9
Form the moment NL arrived right up to today our performance has slipped
We got away with it early on – but now he has ran out of road
I sense we are unfit not sharp we never ever get behind teams – we slow the game down – when we should be penetrating the opposition wave after wave of attack

Celtic needs to decide what it is about, what it stands for, following that decision if first team football is the priority get the best it can afford for all areas from the board the team manager coaches medics etc. Only then will the purpose be clear.
We have wasted so much time and money it is scandalous.
Now a respected club servant is the focus of protest and worse, with zero communication from the suits who make all the decisions but tell no one what is their goal or goals.

Aye it’s been a while and it’s been a long slow past few months.
Of course folks are still dying, but I would wager that most of them are not dying from the covid, they may have the virus but they will also have underlying symptoms, the survival rate is still over 99%, no bad for a so called pandemic, you know as well as I do that it’s all about the money, the so called vaccines are only going to treat the symptoms, if you read the small print on the press releases from the pharma co’s it’s as plain as the nose on the end of your face that they won’t fight the virus, just ease the symptoms, yet they still project the fear, and many many extra people, nay many many extra 000’s are dying, domestic abuse has gone through the roof, child abuse the same, lump in suicides, all the folks who are going to lose their homes, businesses, the poverty levels are astonishing, millions world wide are going to stave to death, abortions are at their highest level for many many years, all so a few elite scum can make a few extra billion.
I have a mate in Dublin who runs a nursing home, he lost over 80% of his patients in the past few months, most in his opinion would have survived had they been treated, no doctor was ALLOWED to set foot in the place, his words, you are a smart bloke, only a wee bit…..
They know fine well what they are doing and most folks have been taken in, I bet they didn’t think it would be so easy.
