Sunk in the first time, keep watching the end scene til you get the message.

Your coming across as a bit of a weirdo, get well soon.

    ‘SFTB,

I think you’re playing devils advocate but can I ask what would you suggest we work on at present – team building or tactics?”

    —————————–

DA- I think we all play advocate for our views but mine are no more of the devil’s than the next man’s are.

I would work on all aspects of our game, techique, tactics and shape, dead ball plays, zonal marking, team building AND psychology.

And, honestly, I think the team will be working on all of these. Posters who have never seen a single session at Lennoxtown are confidently asserting that we don’t practice corners, shies or tackling; it’s patent nonsense.

These guys know what they are doing. Football knowledge did not disappear from CP when Brendan left.

The difference this year, unless we blame it all on Shane Duffy, is that what we did before is not working for us. Confidence is shot and we are frightened to play the brave ball or stay on the ball for longer to create space. It was all- play the safe pass and keep it away from areas where there were too many of the opposition, which meant keeping it away from the penalty box where damage could be done.

In the end, i cannot answer, in any operational detail, the question you pose, but the guys at CP & Lennoxtown could tell you. % minutes in their compay and they could buy and sell 99.9% of us on here when it comes to coaching knowledge and how to apply it practically.

Of course it can be done better because this season has been very poor and it could and should have been better. Improvement in form, after a spell like this, will come in inches and not miles. Hard work at training is as important as tactics, building up a recognisable team pattern with a regular core of players ( I am guessing tonight indicates its Hazard as goalie and Laxalt as LB, plus Soro and Turnbull ahead of Brown Christie and McGregor now) is as important as tactics.

Tactics, ARE, of course important, but I agree with Neil, their importance is vastly over-rated by the fans who have never run a team or trained a squad.

Most of the time, on here, it is a very simple equation. Celtic lose = our manager was ouththought. I find that simplistic.

  4. SFTB

    Tactics are NEVER overrated

Don Revie won a league based purely on tactics. Yes he had good players but other teams had better, particularly man Yoo. Revues dossiers and tactics won the day. I agree tactics aren’t everything, but coupled with goodand not necessarily great players can do lots. Barca had one exceptional player and at least half a dozen good players. They became, for years, brilliant, due to indiviyclass and tactics. We beat Barca in their pomp using tactics and not skill. We LACK the tactical nous now, even for mediocre teams, as has been proved in Europe

  5. Lenny, and correct me if I’m wrong, more or less admitted that he sends the players out and trusts them to know what they should do. He’s not a tactician but a good man manager. It’s not enough, especially being so far behind in the league

  6. Wasteful in front of goal – not woeful defending our own – was our problem tonight. Coulda been a 5-0 win.

Happy with productive industry over celtic flair just 3 days past an historic, record-setting cup final win.

Agree that the pitch looks a diseased mess. Speaking of which, they tucked away another result v the saints.

Even with three points in the bag, some here are never happy. I am.

Ach well, each to their own.

Don’t take this the wrong way but you can top up the boiler pressure yourself.

I’m useless around the house but we got a new boiler last year and we had to top it up. I searched my boiler make on you tube and there was a video how to do it. Hope this helps.

    ……………….

ive kissed a few BOILERS in my time.

    LOL

  9. Hello again all you young rebels.

From a very merry Christmas Eve garden party in sunny Melbourne.

As you know I’ve been asking all you learned Bhoys/Ghirls about a

uncompleted Glasgow cup final against Der hun and as usual I got

answers from Winning Gemmell and Tontine Tim and Big Jimmy.

He now asks, did the result of that final not being played result in

them having to remove the.. AYE..from their badge saying Aye Ready ?

I don’t know what my CSC mhate is up to, is it a bet? is he compiling

a list of all the nefarious deeds that the horribles get up to ?

Don’t know yet but he’s up to something which won’t benefit them.

I’ll find out at our next big meet up at the New Year, when we hump

them, and a reinvigorated Celtic goes on to take the ten.

    Thats my Christmas wish sorted.

    H.H. Mick

  10. MELBOURNE MICK…

My Christmas wishes are as follows…

Celtic to Win our next Three games including against ” The Animals” at Ipox….and more beyond.

Santa to get the PUBS Open right now…

Its not too much to ask…is it ?

    LOL

    HH Mate.

  11. Good morning cqn from a frosty Garngad, thank feck I got that boiler working last night, now like the feckin Bahamas in here.

A wins a win for awe that and I am obviously happy with 3 points…….BUT on reflection after seeing the team last night why move Ajer away from the right back berth? Keep him there as he was playing well and put someone in for Duffy if he is injured.

Sorry but fir me Frimpong stood far to often when he should have been asking for the ball over the top to use his pace, he was behind Ajer and Jullienne some times and cuts in far to often and passes backwards.

Imo he is young and can learn IF coached properly.

It is very hard to break teams that sit in down I understand that so when you get in behind and get chances we have to bury them.

3 points and we move onto Hamilton

    D :)

  12. DAVID66…

Sorry to read about your Boiler problems, I hope its sorted ASAP !

A few years ago there was a knock on my front door…so I got up to answer it….

I opened the door and there stood a strange Guy who was rattling a Tin and who said…… ” Hello…I am collecting on behalf of the Royal Swimming Society” …….

So…I gave him a Bucket of Water !

    LOL
