  1. TET, your point about “we deserve better” hits a nail on the head.

It’s an attitude that pervades society at the moment.

No-one ever deserved to win anything, you earn that, and earning it is what makes it worthwhile.

BRTH, you will never grow up, and be all the better for that.

Just this minute in the door from the game, having a quick look before bed and happy to see u have spoken to Micks brother in law today. I spoke to his sister on the way home (maybe it’s her husband u were speaking to?) She said there was a rumour of Celtic maybe doing something to help with the fundraising for Mick, did u hear anything about that?

  3. What is the Stars on

There are always rows/spats on here after ” bad ” results. Sometimes caused by mischievous interlopers but often like today involving genuine Celtic men ( I dont care if they are supporters or fans or both)

I find myself looking on like a spectator at the Wimbledon tennis championships, neck going from left to right, Good Point..oh and another good point from the other side..

In a pub over a pint these things can be laughed at.

    In cyber space its different.

However there are more testing things in life than being a supporter or fan of a successful football team..

Like being a Spectator at a tennis match for example.

    Hail Hail..love all

GFTB – You would forsake retaining our league title to win the EL?

    Fair play to ye.

Me personally do not understand the rationale/reasoning – not when the club is on the brink of 7IAR and an unprecedented Double Treble.

    HH.

  5. In BRENDAN I most definitely trust re all team matters. No sense of entitlement re winning matches/trophies et al having lived through the horrible 90s early noughties and their tainted 9.

The thing that I cannot abide is being blatantly cheated whether it’s through DOS/EBT schemes and the appointment of officials who allow our players to be kicked off the park.

All of the evidence is there for the stripping of titles and I am assuming that the Club is pursuing this and other matters re Resolution 12 with the evidence provided by our very own Gang of Four and the judgement in both the big and wee tax cases.

What really does get to me though is in listening to our Manager after the match and judging by his comments the refereeing obviously wasn’t a problem although my eyes told me a markedly different story.

If we do not call them out they will continue to do as they have always done. For those who claim that it will be perceived as “sour grapes, paranoia” et al and there’s no point we haven’t done what we should have re the new club….how has that worked out.

How can we attract emerging talent if they (and in some instances their parent club) know that they will be assaulted on a regular basis with no sanction applied to the perpetrators. The bottom line is if we think it’s bad now, wait until we get the 8/9 under our belts and going for the ten. BTW the 7 isn’t a given if today’s standard of officiating is anything to go by.

    FFS call them out Celtic.

    TET

Supporters choose to support Celtic in ways that suit their disposition, geography and income.

The amount of cash spent is NOT a measure of emotional investment, after all everybody gets to watch the same game whether they choose to attend or view and regardless of what they spend to do either .

Choosing to pay £600 for an ST is a personal choice made because it benefits the person making it in a way those benefits cannot be enjoyed by other means. There is a social aspect to it (CQN corner) that comes with an ST, so its not exactly self sacrificing to be an ST holder is it?

That is not to say I don’t appreciate that without ST holders the viewers would have nothing to watch, indeed it was on a principle of sharing the financial load I suggested the Overseas Season Ticket a couple of years back to Celtic.

However I repeat there is no degree of emotional ascendancy to be attached to the form in which support is given, but I can well understand the ire of those who have paid to watch in conditions Id freeze to death in and am grateful for their attendance.

GFTB – Winning isn’t everything indeed.

  14. For me there were to many changes today.

I understood the Sinclair and Rogic inclusions.

The defense was definitely a risk and though defensively sound they often stifled our play.Ajer and Hendry did well but Gamboa and Miller stifled a lot of our forward movement.

I think our system and strict adherence to retaining possession is now negating our potency as we are ponderous and lacking in forward movement.

Miller to me was so reluctant to make any forward movement which is the opposite of how he is viewed in the development team.Gamboa looked short of confidence.

KT was sorely missed and definitely needs a rest but the difference when he came on was obvious .

I keep seeing people writing about De Vries having better distribution than Gordon but i think he is worse. To slow and casual with passes and seems to lack awareness. He constantly hoofs it upfield to no one in particular.

  15. PARK ROAD 67 on 18TH FEBRUARY 2018 6:58 PM

The MIB’S are in overdrive ghuys watched Sportscene there and Madhun was every bit as bad as cheatin Beaton, I wish Celtic would be more outspoken about this, it really is out of hand now!

*I’m not a panic merchant, not by a long shot but we’ve not always been cheated, during the years in the wilderness there was no need we were that billy cotton.

However, and as I’ve said on here often after 16 titles, 10 SC, 12 Glasgow Cups and 18 Charity Cups in only 24 years of existence the goatshaggin distress call went out and the Celtic juggernaut was halted. Men like Pasty Gallacher only won 2 more Scottish Cups having previously won 6 Titles, 2 SC and 4 GC, Jimmy McGrory 3 Leagues and 4 SC, John Thompson 2 SCs but no Titles.

We had a wee flurry in the early 50s but there were many many more good teams in the country that stopping Celtic was academic, and then as I said we were victims of Bob Kelly’s folly.

And then along came the Latter Day Christ, when Jock arrived allegedly Bob said to him that there were things that may occur that were out of our control so to just move on tae which Jock seemingly replied out of his earshot “aye that’ll be right”.

He stood up for us, we were cheated at times but 10 leagues, 8 Scottish Cups, 6 League Cups, 5 Glasgow Cups, 1 Dryborough Cup and not forgetting the Big Eared Cup.

Big Billy and Davie Hay were no slouches and challenged authority with the latter suggesting after a horrible LC that we would be better off moving to England and as soon as the next day.

Even during MONs reign, with far better players than we have now, when the distress call went back out that Europe was a must we were financially cheated losing the league by a goal and then a point, don’t forget what the current assistant manager at hades allegedly said at the Rock Bowling club in the week of the final game while we were out in Seville carrying the country’s flag “if deidco need goals then deidco will get them”.

It was only when they were liquidated that we enjoyed a less dishonest run, but now their back and the call’s out again, they are pink lint and need the European money once more, and not just the Europa either.

Now its easy tae say we gained a point today but we also lost 2 and with 11 games to go we are only 9 points ahead, that’s just 3 games.

Also in a day when we had 13 shots against 5, 6 on target against zero, they had 23 fouls against our 11, oh aye they had 4 players booked while we had none but that was probably because Broonie wisnae playing. Most on here said he was badly missed so snivelin did his job.

I’m not blaming the Blessed Brendan or the players, but someone somewhere has to do something about the officiating, didn’t John Reid state that we would no longer be sitting at the back of the bus or words to that effect, to paraphrase Henry II “Will no one rid me of these meddlesome refs?”

I’m a bit older and more wary now, as Jimmy Ruffin once said “I’ve passed this way before. I’ve felt this pain before”.

  16. “Youll never walk alone Paul”

    Whit a load a pish!

A Cellic captain, feart tae take a penalty aginst Raith Rovers ?

Jeez, nae winnur he missed it!

Nae winnur the Fergus led PLC at that time, hated Gerry McNee, GM was the only hurting Tim in the SMSM at that time, who pointed out all these wee frailties that would trip us up,…..he was right, which led to him being hated even more by paranoid Fergus, these are the the things that happen when you live in denial.

Nae winnur we won hee haw in those days, wan pishy manager efter another.

An Invisible man in the middle ae the park called, Peter Grant, wan ae the pishy managers even went as far to say that, he wished there were ten Peter Grant’s in the team!

Nae winnur we were incapable of skelping the, cheating, ebt, mibbery assisted huns in those days, till Wim & Murdo came in, ripped up the simple simon, dafty, naive, nae streetwise Celtic Way pish, got rid ae the invisible Peter Grant oot the middle of the pitch, muscled us up wi big Craig Burley, started to win crunch games and, went on to win thee most important League title of any of our lifetimes 1998.

Ye see, Brendan played Callum McGregor as a second striker on Thursday night, and CM was the best player on the pitch imho.

Then, two days later, Brendan puts CM back into the middle of the park and, CM went back to being invisible imho.

Now, if sumdy like me can see that, what do the forensic sharks from the really big clubs think when they see that type of management ?

Is that why Brendan is up here in the backwater of football, instead ae being involved in leagues that have gravitas about them ?

Any Cellic manager who dizny play wi two strikers in the SPFL backwater, is wearing a mask, imho.

See the folk that think ah talk pish, their the wans who will squeal the loudest when thur denial juice wears aff!

The bank are sitting on at least, £70 million of Cellic money.

So, why was the park nearly hauf empty ?

Seems like awe the wee bits urny jining the gither ?

Hmmmmm, awfy strange tumbleweeds comin doon the track ?

    Hmmmmm ?

Oh, and in case anybody wants to know how poorly me, got to see the gemme yesterday, I got a big juicy sausage with optics that magnify empty seats, and can identify invisible men on the pitch!

The day is coming when, the entire bottom tier will have to be a standing area, probably at a tenner a skull, wi a hot pie included in that tenner.

A wee bit of reality wouldn’t go amiss.

Thistle in the LC and Killie away were two games that come to mind were similar changes to our starting line up occurred but we won both games convincingly scoring 7 over both games whilst not conceding a goal.

On the back of the Zenit game I thought the chances of comfortable win were strong but I didn’t factor in the level of mibbery on show yesterday. Masterclass in game management to stifle Celtic from the ref.

Regardless of yesterday’s result,we will win the league and I fully understand the changes made today to keep our best possible eleven fresh for Zenit game.

    Good Evening All.

We were way off the mark today, and while St Johnstone fought well, at times they were down right ridiculous with their pulling and shoving much of which was totally ignored by Mr Beaton. Even with what was almost a third string we should have been good enough to carve better openings than we did, and we should have seen them off.

Anyway, of far greater importance was taking in the game with Malorbhoy and even more importantly Megan, El Diego Bhoy’s younger daughter.

I recall a very heartfelt and tearful discussion with Jim while sitting in the north stand. It was not long after his beloved wife had died and he was absolutely heartbroken. I tried to gee him up with stories about some mad nights in Akram’s Hot Spot in Dumbarton as I knew he had gone there in his youth, only to find that it was there he met the future Mrs EDB – and of course that would send him off into a tearful story or two.

As I got to know JIm I found him very open and very considerate and caring. He didn’t mince his words and wasn’t shy in coming forward with an opinion and when he learned that my own marriage had ended several years before he made it plain that he found that very sad. He was full of questions after that: Did I have a knew partner? Why did I not have a new partner?

He was very firm in the view that everyone should have someone to love and be loved by, and for God knows how long he would keep asking me “Any sign of a love life?” lol. Some would have found his line intrusive, I fet it was just Jim. He was a very caring man and a very good man.

It was great to see Megan looking well, being very funny and having no respect whatsoever for her elders when it came to taking the mickey – and that is how it should be.

I miss her dad though on days like today though I can hear him shouting “Oh for goodness sake!” and “That’s just ridiculous Celtic!”

Rest Easy EDB — though your spirit is never far away and I still hear you giving me advice, whether I wanted it or not! lol

I was disappointed in the result yesterday, and surprised at the team selection. I don’t think I’ve commented on it in a negative way, because I think the manager has earned our trust.

    But…

When I saw the line-up for Tottenham yesterday,I said to my mate-

Do managers never learn? They only need to look at the third round last month to see how putting out the reserves against a diddy team disnae work.

Didn’t think it would apply to us though.

And let’s remember,St Johnstone might have been aided and abetted by first-class mibbery, but that was a team in a shocking run of form.

    Fair play,bud.

I know people were having a go yesterday at those who were, erm, disappointed by the result, the performance, the selection. I thought it was overly harsh to shout entitlement at them.

Not saying you did, btw. You can read back and see it for yourself.

But there were a number of posters who are generally far from the mineshafters camp who voiced their displeasure. A fair few who said that the fans pay to see the best team available on the pitch.

We’ve dropped twenty points already this season. That’s 25%. That’s exceptionally careless.

Frankly,it isn’t good enough, given the financial advantages we have. By which I mean that I doubt any other team anywhere has an income 3 or 4 times their nearest competitor.

I expect us to fall over the line this year, but we have to up the ante.

  30. Whilst there were 7 changes yesterday 3 were enforced – Brown (suspended), Ntcham and Lustig (unfit). Kieron surely deserved a rest.

The other 3 dropping out – Jozo, Wee Jamsie and Mousse are clearly currently better than Hendry, Moussonda and Eduard.
