  1. Roddybhoy,

I agree, far too much complacency around the club. I think last season, plus the long unbeaten run, has inured some people from the realities of footballing life in Scotland.

Whilst we’ve regressed, everyone else in the top six (even Svco) has improved. We have a terrible injury list and – if we make it past Zenit – we will be fighting on three fronts for the next wee while.

Today was a home banker – or should have been. To drop more than half the team after the high of Thursday was incredibly naive and complacent.

Raymac was spot on since you have “returned” to Celtic Park we have beat Zenit & kept a clean sheet in every league game

    EC67 = Celtic shut out :-)

For the halfwits whio were booing at full time fk off and don’t come back.

    ——–

Surely they were booing the ref and not the team??

  4. GERRYFAETHEBRIG, dont know if ive ever told you this gerry, but first friday of every month the whole school being st augustines secondary.lol. we went down to the chapel for mass, what a lovely church you should be proud.hh.

  5. totally agree Italiabhoy ………………….I really really hate criticising Brendan but I do think at times he tinkers way too much with team selections, I do appreciate we have a horrendous injury list but remember Ronnie got slaughtered for the same thing . Get your best team on the park get the game sewn up Then make a few changes with subs

  6. Our club, manager & players must know that the only way we get scottish referees to apply the rules here even half way fairly is to excel in europe. This then leaves scottish referees to answer as to why it is that scottish defences, that can never seem to make progres beyond the euro qualifiers to the group stages in europe but can consistently master our euro hotshots domestically. Our pumped up first team fresh from qualifying for the next round of the europa league on thurs will smash aberdeen on sun.

The stat that concerns me most ….

In all 59 games of last season we failed to score on 5 occasions

In our last 16 games we have failed to score on 5 occasions.

Everyone reacts in their own way to draws, defeats or ‘lesser’ performances . Some angry , some more forgiving and some who never see anything bad in Celtic. Indeed some who never seem to see anything good.

We have a forum here to air opinions.

Can’t that be done in an adult manner? Some of the language on here and personal attacks on posters are in extremely poor taste.

This site is drifting further away from the place that it was when first materialised.

Yes it’s a blog, but good manners cost nothing.

I’d suggest if anyone feels the need to address others in a way they wouldn’t like their mother to hear, they leave their contribution until the emotion has wained a bit.

I’m sure they’d feel better for it in the morning.

  9. Italiabhoy

Not naive….just expected his team to win..

Im sure BR played ‘weakened’ teams last season.

I think most people are reacting to Sevco comeback S**te.

    Ah dont

BR isnt naive. IMHO if u think that u r.

Miss GFTB is in Prinary 5 and the school still go to mass first Friday of every month….. she tries to get out of mass on the Sunday because she went on the Friday and I didn’t ! The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree as I would try the same excise :-)

  14. Adi Dasler,

Anorther poster on this thread posted what Gerrard said when asked what BR’s weakness was. His answer: “over confidence”

Over confidence and naivety live in the same house, IMHO. BR is a great manager but he really blew that game today.

    Naive to think otherwise.

  15. Phil

Most of us let the emotion and passion we have for the hoops get to us. I just hate to see insults being fired at folks with a different view.

(Sadly I don’t always manage to practice what I preach, but I’m definitely better than I once was :-)

  16. I was also of opinion that Boos were for the Ref but I suppose ghuys at the game & closer to the Boo’ers are better informed.

I think the Bhoys on the field did as well as could be expected, but Hendry, Miller & Gamboa couldn’t have had more than 6 or 7 starts between them this year and have never played together before.

Their anchor to see them through what must have been a daunting experience was 19 yr old Ajer who is still a rookie himself albeit a promising one.

Midfield & upfront Kouassi & Mussonda are still only feeling their way into the team & Rogic was only playing his first game back after a very long lay off & couldn’t be expected to be dominant.

If you looked at the sheet, the names Rogic, Kouassi, Mussunda etc looked OK but the reality was this wasn’t a coherent team.

I love Brendan, I can take a set back and don’t expect us to dominate & win every game but the winning of this game was lost by the selection.

  17. We played poorly

    Beaton exceled with his mibbery

    Too many changes(imho)

WE ARE NINE POINTS CLEAR RATHER THAN EIGHT :)))))))))))

  18. I thought our manager was right to tinker with the team. We were poor today, although I suppose that was to be expected.

Beaton was a lot poorer. Without hyperbole, he simply cheated us. Has he been taking lessons from Thompson. Any time we threatened to build up steam, he made sure we were stopped in our tracks. Imo, it is way past time that Celtic spoke out. That “character” @ left back who should been been sent off and feigned injury and was immediately substituted exemplified them. Kick and pull and push their basic tactic and tolerated by the MIB.

  19. Hammer throwers, aided and abetted by Beaton. That is what it was; nevertheless, we should have done much better today.

  20. Gerryfaethebrig on

We didn’t win, sometimes that happens …. not trying to make excuses for Brendan but in my opinion Broony is the most important player that pulls on the hoops these days, we drew 0-0 with St Johnstone we have bigger fish to fry ,,,, roll on the Zenit …. Broony will be missed hermit our captain retires until then appreciate what we have

  21. 12 minutes to go, I was so sure that we could not score, I started on Gong Bao chicken and egg fried rice. My wife really enjoyed it but my game enjoyment was severely limited. Meal was good though ;-)

    ————-

100% agree with !!BADA BING!! (see Wee BGFC’s comment when we were driving home – same sentiment, similar language ;-)).

Have your opinion by all means, be unhappy – no-one in the ground was really happy today – but booing a Celtic team is Hun behaviour. Fair weather ‘soccer’ fans at the ‘big match’ – numpties.

DAVID17 – I wish it were so, but Beaton got his from the small number of fans who were left a minute or so later – the boos immediately after the full-time whistle were from supposed Celtic supporters at their own team.

If we are all in this together – supporters, manager and team – then there are some who claim to be Celtic supporters who really need to look in the mirror at themselves.

Boo our own team – boo Celtic – and you are no better than the opposition support – go and join them and be with like-minded people.

  23. The new look team started ‘quite decently’ but by halftime they looked like random strangers. By the end we resembled me playing Fifa on my lhad’s Xbox!

Beaton was MOTM. St J played the system ‘robustly’. If you want to see why glowing Football hasn’t flourished in Scotland, look no further.

I’m all for rotation and blooding the youngsters (and spelling those who play most) but this was too much, too soon imho.

Does that make me a banker?

We should win 10 in a row given our resources. To do otherwise will be criminal.

Does that make me Hunnish or entitled? Or an objective assessor of our materiel advantages?

My criticism of BR would be his too civil demeanour towards the MIBs during and after the match. They’re cheating barstewards. It contributed largely to the complete lack of flow today and the 2 dropped points. Beyond that it’ll cost us in terms of unpunished injury, with KT top of endangered list.

Wasn’t in my usual seat today. I thought the boos at the end were for the Huns. Those in blue and the one in black.

  24. From the sublime to the ridiculous.

No not Celtic’s performance, but the reaction to it on CQN.

Thursday – Celtic make me happy Hurrah, hurrah. (or silence)

Sunday – Celtic fail to make me happy – boo boo. (never silence)

Tip. If you want to be happy buy a box a Cadbury’s chocolate cream eggs (two boxes of 4 each from Tesco at £2 for the two) and find as many ways of eating them as you can.

Much more dependable than making happiness dependent on football.

  25. Brendan prioritised the Zenit game over today’s match which I disagree with. The SPL is our bread and butter and we pay handsomely to watch it. We were treated as mugs today. Hh

  26. Disappointing result and performance.

Ref a major factor of course.

I’m guessing it was pre planned but Rogic was just having an influence on the game when he got subbed. Mousanda is a talent, now doubt, and needs to find a way to get into the game more often facing the opposition rather than our keeper.

Miller at left back and Gamboa at right back both started well then faded as their team mates did likewise.

Even CalMac who started on fire ended up a damp squib.

Ajer (motm) and Hendry were excellent both defensively and with the occasional foray forward (keep going!!)

Lastly, how absolutely, brilliantly good was Kieran Tierney when he came on. Almost won us the game.

  27. at the end of the day, until our board call out the cheats in black, nothing will get done we either have to live with it or do something about it. hh.

Smacks of entitlement, you buy your season ticket surely to watch Celtic ? Whoever wears the shirt ? Naw ?

You do seem to not enjoy watching Celtic whatever the result

“Treated as mugs” is a bit strong! It’s a fine line. Had we converted just one chance, we’d be thinking it was risk/reward that paid off. Players rested and 3 points.

We got a point and extended our lead which has probably tempered a lot of folks’ annoyance.

Had we lost 1-0, which on the balance of play could have happened, it’d be a lot more intense on here now.

    As I say… fine line.

I was not so much disappointed that Brendan made the changes, it’s his job and he’s proving very successful at it, I was however very disappointed with the performances of some of the players who were given a chance. I feel they let the manager down with insipid performances.

  30. I’m sure the numpties a few rows behind in Upper North block 408 would have booed at half time and full time – if I hadn’t given them a polite rebuke when they came out with the most rediculous of (loudly expressed) comments just before halftime: “We lose a goal every game playing like that” in reference to a pass at the back which was a little dodgy.

  31. AULDHEID, its all about opinions, he has his ,you have yours, i have mine. no way on this earth are we all going to agree.hh.
