  1. The BBC has St J receiving one yellow. I am sure I saw at least three. Also, 13 v 2 in our favour re shots on target but I still agree with those who felt St J deserved a point….just.

PS What was the attendance? I thought about 40,000. Chelsea v Liverpool was 41,000.

Do you think we will not win the league? Who do you think will win it?

If your answer to both questions is “no” and “Celtic”, then your views are no different from those to whom you attribute the qualities of being “stay at home” fans who never see Celtic live.

  3. It was bit disappointing today, but after Wednesday nights efforts it was hardly surprising.

The energy levels were low, application wasn’t there.

There is plenty of time to go on a winning run, between early December and late February.

Between the end of the group stage and the next round.

The effort put into the CL games has an effect on the SPL games, simple as that for me.

Hopefully the Aberdeen game will be better, but I think the Benfica game definitely will, the focus of the team is on it at present.

It looked to me that they (and quite a few others) stayed outside `till it was over. There was a Demo outside about Internment ( I think). I meant that the MSM might make something of their (GB)absence for the duration of the silence

Yeah, well done the Green Brigade they made their protest well! Certainly with greater respect and dignity than others within lower divisions of Scottish football.

Belated thanks to them for all their hard work on Wednesday.

  6. Evening folks.

Disappointing result today and more to the point very poor performance. I think Lenny should have changed it today, but not as much as the Killie game as it seemed to disrupt the team too much.

Perhaps he had that in mind today and that’s why he stuck with mostly the same players again. I would have started with Tony Watt from the start and rested Chris Commons, whom I thought did not have a great first half on Wednesday, but his second half defensive performance was excellent, something I did not think he had in him. That second half performance took a lot out of him and I think that showed today.

Also I like the directness of young Tony and he is very strong and causes defences problems with his running off the ball, especially in wide areas at times.

Big Sami is still trying to achieve full match fitness and I think it will take time for him to get up to speed.

I would also have started with Kayal instead of Brown. I think Scott is still struggling with his injury and thought he was very quiet today.

Also as harryhoodsdugbitme mentioned on here the pace was too slow. We have to keep the ball moving and keep it moving at pace. If we are able to do that consistently in SPL games we will win games easily and convincingly.

Despite this I also think we have to have to keep in mind that it’s a young emerging team and also a management team who are still learning. As I sit watching the Atletico v Getafe game I am reminded we beat one of the best teams in their league on Wednesday and one of the best teams in the world presently.

Just over a year ago on holiday in Spain I watched us being well beaten by Atletico in the Europa cup. Look how far we have come in that short period to time. We are talking about progressing to the last sixteen of the Champions league. And as I watch this game now I would fancy our chances against Atletico.

We will win the league, but if the price for a slow start is an emerging team in Europe I will take that. When the time comes to step up to the plate in the league we will do so.

  7. Just back in and fed,

Im emotionally drained after that, what week being a celtic fan

so I think if I can get drained by shouting and singing I can forgive the Bhoys that today,

Im truly goosed but If you would have given me this at the start of the season I would have took it.

No tactical opinions from me but K Shiels hit the nail on the head after the killie game,Its nothing to do with our physical condition but every emotional switch in the brain and body has been switched on(buzzing) since wed, its getting them turned off and prepared for games like today that is the problem hence the appointment of Mr McGuinness.

It is all a learning process for Neil & his YOUNG team but our club are on the case.

Im away for a lie on the couch, Thank you celtic for a magical week and to our fans on the respect shown for the minutes silence. I could have wept with pride at our conduct(they were just waiting, although Leckie probably heard somebody coughing :)).

    Agreement on transfer of membership

    Friday, 27 July 2012

Joint statement on behalf of The Scottish FA, The Scottish Premier League, The Scottish Football League and Sevco Scotland Ltd.

We are pleased to confirm that agreement has been reached on all outstanding points relating to the transfer of the Scottish FA membership between Rangers FC (In Administration), and Sevco Scotland Ltd, who will be the new owners of The Rangers Football Club.

A conditional membership will be issued to Sevco Scotland Ltd today, allowing Sunday’s Ramsdens Cup tie against Brechin City to go ahead.

Following the completion of all legal documentation, the Scottish Premier League will conduct the formal transfer of the league share between RFC (IA) and Dundee FC on no later than Friday 3rd August 2012. At this point, the transfer of Scottish FA membership will be complete.

    Key points:

    – The Scottish FA has received all necessary information and documentation from Sevco Scotland Ltd, including details of the company structure, shareholders, financial projections and business plan.

    – Sevco Scotland Ltd has agreed to accept all conditions relating to RFC (IA)’s charges of bringing the game into disrepute, namely the 12-month transfer embargo, beginning at 0.01a.m on 1st September 2012, and payment of all outstanding fines and costs.

    – Sevco Scotland Ltd has agreed to settle all outstanding football debts to other members of the Scottish FA plus clubs under the jurisdiction of other Football Associations.

    – The Scottish Premier League and Scottish Football League have reached agreement on the purchase of a package of broadcasting rights which will allow the former to include The Rangers FC matches in contracts with broadcast partners.

    – The Scottish Premier League has reserved its position in relation to the on-going investigation into EBTs.

Stewart Regan, Chief Executive of the Scottish FA: “We are pleased for everyone involved in this process, and indeed the whole of Scottish football, that a conclusion has been reached.

“There were a number of complex and challenging issues involved but, primarily, the Scottish FA had to be satisfied that the new owners of Rangers would operate in the best interests of the club, its fans and Scottish football in general.

“We have reached agreement on all terms and conditions attached to the transfer of membership and are able to grant conditional membership, ahead of the formal transfer of the SPL share a week today. This will allow the season to kick-off as planned this weekend and I am sure there will be many who will join me in welcoming the start of the new football season in Scotland.

“This has been a difficult period for Scottish football, but with this agreement now in place, and with the new season upon us, it is essential that we all focus our energies on football once again. In the months ahead, the Scottish FA will resume discussions on the subject of league reconstruction. We remain committed to this process in order to re-energise the national game and will work closely with the SPL, SFL and all other relevant affiliated bodies to provide a dynamic product appealing to our supporters.” Charles Green, Chief Executive of The Rangers Football Club, said “The agreement signed today allows Rangers to be granted membership by the SFA and finally enables the Club to move forward.

“The Board, the Manager and senior executives have been working tirelessly over the last few weeks to secure the future of the Club and today is the start of that process.

“The Board has had to take some very difficult decisions to gain SFA membership, including accepting the delayed transfer ban and paying outstanding financial penalties. But we are now able to get back to playing football and plan for the new season, starting this Sunday with our match against Brechin.

“There remains, however, an outstanding issue with the SPL regarding EBTs. As we have proved in the last couple of months we will stand up to any challenges that face Rangers and will continue to fight for the Club’s best interests.”

Neil Doncaster, Chief Executive of the SPL: “We are pleased to have reached an agreement with the parties concerned. Discussions will now continue with our broadcast partners and we expect to be in a position to make a further announcement next week on broadcasting rights and the on-going EBT investigation.”

Jim Ballantyne, President of the SFL: “Current events have thrown up some serious challenges to Scottish football and the SFL has played its part in trying to navigate through to a solution in difficult circumstances.

“I am now looking forward to doing what we are actually here to do. To play football

    Deary me.

Go get some prozac and have a wee lie down. :)

    It’s simple

CL you only get 6 games to make it work.

SPL you get 36 games to get it right.

The Bhoys excelled themselves in the first four CL games and now have two crucial games to play in that competition. Whatever happens in the SPL during the crucial CL games is not important as long as we’re not off the pace. We’re not off the pace and there’s still 20 games to get it right post CL group stage.

Anything CL after Christmas is a massive bonus, but need not impact on SPL form as the priority will have switched.

    Sheeesh! Easy peasy :)

    Just dropped in to say….

I was under the impression that, sevco were allowed into the 3rd division as

ALL of their football debts had been met ?

Can anyone enlighten. Thanks in advance.

    Hail Hail

    ====================================================

    So goes the theory…

Balance sheets can be manipulated to fool event he most astute.

But what REALLY gets me over their licence being granted is…

There was major hoo-ha over Craig Whyte being passed as a ‘fit and proper person’ by the SFA last year. Even the hunnic hordes of darkness themselves greet about the SFA ignoring Whyte’s dubious reputation and letting him run their midden into oblivion.

    (pause for applause…)

But at the time Whyte had done NOTHING to raise any suspicions.

However, along comes Green, a new owner who not only likes to bump his gums but actually took the SFA to the COURT OF THE LAND, against all UEFA rules which could have carried penalties reaching beyond the concerns of TFOD and affected all of Sctottish football.

And yet a month or so later they grant him his licence.

If his actions were not cast -iron criteria for refusing him on the grounds of failing a fit and proper person test, then what the hell is? Jimmy Savile woul get a licence to run the Huns from those SFA cretins…Posthumously.

  14. Gene’s…..

It was won on goal difference recently .

Hope it doesn’t go down to goals scored :-))

  15. Sitting here last week and being told we would beat Barca, draw with St J and provide no basis for criticism re the minutes silence,I would have accepted immediately.

Therefore having returned from the game I guess I have to say whilst a bit flat it could have been worse.

We earn in one CL game what we get for one CL game. So glad we are prioritising CL football but if we are daft enough to leave the MIBS with a small enough point gap to manipulate matters then we deserve all that we might get.

I still reckon that if we want to keep the likes of Wanyama, Ki, Hooper, Forster at the club then Euro footy after xmas regularly and preferably without qaulifiers is a must.

Whatever challenges we as a club face we need to do it honestly.

We earn more in one CL game what we earn for an SPL season in TV Money above should read

  20. In previous seasons any points at all dropped in The SPL was a disaster any points dropped by the other lot was a lotto win. The urgency is not there with us at the moment but it is very much there with our opponents who are all looking at European Football Qualification. Next Saturday the stakes will be higher with an away game against Aberdeen, lose we could be 4 back of Hibs and possibly down to 3rd or 4th in the League, you will see a very different Celtic next week.

Well football is all about opinions and in my opinion Lennie and his back room staff are doing a great job.Now a few posters have came on as said they were drained now wither they mean physicaly or mentaly or both only they know. However,if they felt drained supporting the team how do the team feel after there exertions is it not reasonable to expect they would have a hard shift today ? we didnt lose today so things could have been worse we have several very hard games coming up it is to be hoped that oue injured players will be back to strengthen the squad.H.H.

  27. One or two have commented on our support today. Where I sit, front main stand, there were many new faces. One group sitting beside us caught the attention of my eleven year old son.

“Dad, did you hear that man shouting? He wasn’t even watching the game until St Johnstone scored,” he said, and he was correct. Having enjoyed the huddle in the first half, he obviously bwcame bored in the second. He treated those of us in the vicinity to how he plans a course of driving lessons, for the benefit of his friend. I found it off-putting. What I found objectionable was the vitriol he then poured on the players when we lost the goal.

I dont enjoy drawing or worse, but I support the team. It doesn’t take much effort.

I know a few people who can’t afford to go regularly who would cheer the bhoys to the rafters no matter the score. I know who I’d rather sit beside.

Wednesday was a pleasure. We’ll get over today.

Yup. I’d guess the two wins against Spartak and Barca alone have earned the club more in prize money than winning the SPL did last season. A simple case of getting priorities in the right order and keeping things in perspective.

Re the Alloa payment (I have an interest, check the nom de plume). I asked yesterday if anybody could tell us what the payment time is, under the rules. If somebody answered the question, apologies as I missed it. If not, what is the due date, anybody? Think this conflates fairly nicely with the HMFC/Sevco story, and the emergency share issue.

We are clearly observing an organisation in quite some distress. Vladimir Romanov is a successful businessman, as Charlie Green is not. He is, to boot, a banker, and as such will recognise the cries for help better than I can. It is my belief belief that Romanov is playing the Scottish authorities, Sevco, and (regrettably) the Jambo faithful, like a well tuned violin. Draw up a chair and pour yourself a large one.
