Putting as nice as I can, I’m afraid I’m of the opinion that anyone can post what they like on this blog as long as it’s within in the C.O.C.
Within the letter of the rules, yes you are correct; however, within the spirit of the rules, as fellow Celtic fans there should be a level of integrity and respect amongst one another. What has been going on over the last few days is not, in my opinion, within the spirit of the rules!
Saying that means you may post things that I find tedious, my posts and my thoughts are my opinion, you call them bitterness ?
Tony, if it was just tedious, that would be fine and we could all scroll on and ignore it; however, there has been a level of bitterness displayed and it is, at times, saturating the forum. Consequently I feel moved to give an opinion on it. If you feel any of my comments are tedious, scroll on. I think it’s unlikely that you will find them offensive.

Who am I? Am I a prefect? No: I am fellow Celtic fan who is asking you for a level of consideration and integrity for myself and, I would suggest, the majority of posters on here. Would you consider that unreasonable? If you do, there is probably no point in continuing the discussion.

Just heard the news – so much for UEFA’s Mission Statement: “We care about football”?
How soon before we get changes to the Last 16? Failure on the part of the EPL or Italians to get out of the Group Stages 2/3 years in a row and we get a demand that the 4 Top Leagues should be guaranteed a Last 16 place?
What next? A team from each of the Top 4 must be guaranteed a 1/4 final place or a semi-final place?
Why not go the whole hog? Make it a UEFA ‘Harlem Globetrotters Top 4’ Pay TV League and feck the Rest!!

If the smaller countries accept the automatic entry of 4 teams from the “big” leagues then it’s only a matter of time before the introduction of a invite only competition. It’s the end for European football as we know it.
As I have posted previously. European Football became a joke from the minute that EUFA adopted Murray and Ogilvie’s proposal to protect the interests of the bigger clubs by changing the European Cup from a home and away knockout format to sections.
BREAKING NEWS: CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
Europe’s top four leagues are to be guaranteed four places in the the Champions League group stages from the 2018/19 season onwards.
Wonder what the other ‘top countries’ think of Spain, Germany, England and Italy getting this guarantee ? I’d imagine France, Russia, Portugal will react ? As Scotland are ranked 23rd we don’t have much push back. Agreement was reached between UEFA and ECA (European Club Association).
Celtic and Motherwell are full members of ECA while Hearts, Aberdeen and Huns are Associated members. Interestingly Peter Lawwell is a member of the Executive Board, so has an inside track on strategic decisions. Think there will be more to come on this over the next few months.

I have said it before it must be very hard being on either side in the middle East Palestine appears to me like a prison surrounded by walls and continuely monitored by Israel the people appear to suffer from great poverty and yet they continue to send rockets and bombers into Israel.It must also be hard living in Israel people going about there ordinary business when a bus full of people blows up beside them the people on the bus mutilated.The constant battle between both sides draining resources that could be used for the people.I cannot see a solution in the near future but the only way peace will ever come is through talks and not bombs.H.H.

On here mate, correct spelling is the least of our worries! :-)))
So the changes on the CL and Europa format drops the country co-efficient and uses past performance. It also takes into account previous wins in European competition. This may be much more beneficial to us. I would imagine that some clubs from the ‘big’ countries who have to rely on their country co-efficient will drop down and that with a couple of successful years (i.e. getting through to the Group Stages) will push us up the rankings and should get us in to qualifying at a later stage, if not into the Group Stages themselves.
Perversely, it makes the qualification easier in the non-champions route is the likes of Man City, Villareal, Gladbach, and Roma are not in that section.
We will need to wait to see the full access list rules when they are published.

The term Troll in Internet terms is subjective. What is your interpretation of a Troll.?
For years on here I have been asking this .
Yes we have witnessed inappropriate terminology applied to Celtic fans from many sources. We have also witnessed ” colourful ” language that would have got some posters red carded.
We have also seen single agenda posters come and go.
I see Celtic supporters expressing opinions that differ from others. Sometimes controversially admittedly , but within the blogs acceptable parameters.
In fact I often see the term troll being branded about by posters who have the ability, the finances and the means to go to Parkhead, but Choose not to.
Respectfully I ask : what is your definition of a Troll.

I can’t see what’s wrong with UEFA deciding that there should be four teams from each of the big leagues in the CL.
It’s their competition so they can do what they want.
And if any club isn’t happy about it, they don’t have to take part.
The champions league is interesting we the fans might not like the fact that we have to qualify for the group stages.However I bet the bean counters at Parkhead love it we have already played 6 games and have secured the income from those games and we have another 6 to play which is a minimum of 12 matches.If you take a team who qualify directly into the group stages but finish bottom of the group they only play 6 matches with I presume less income than Celtic. Evolution of UEFA club competitions from 2018
Published: Friday 26 August 2016, 10.30CET
The top four teams from the four highest-ranked associations will enter the UEFA Champions League group stage from 2018 after new formats were confirmed for both major club competitions.
The format for the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League for 2018/19, 2019/20 and 2020/21 have been confirmed, with no changes to the compettions system but a new procedure for entries.
Following an extensive consultative process involving all European football stakeholders, UEFA proposed amendments which have been approved by the UEFA Executive Committee, upon recommendations of the UEFA Club Competitions Committee and the European Club Association Board.
Changes
o The UEFA Europa League winners will automatically qualify for the UEFA Champions League group stage (currently they can potentially take part in a play-off round).
o The top four clubs from the four top-ranked national associations will now qualify automatically for the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.
o The full details of the access list for both competitions will be finalised by the end of the year.
o A new system for the club coefficients: clubs will be judged on their own records (deletion of the country share for individual club coefficient unless that coefficient is lower than 20% of the association’s coefficient).
o Historical success in the competition will also be acknowledged in coefficient calculation (points for previous European titles with a weighted system for UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League titles)
o Financial distribution to clubs will be increased significantly for both competitions.
o A new four-pillar financial distribution system (starting fee, performance in the competition, individual club coefficient and market pool) will see sporting performances better rewarded, while market pool share will decrease.
What doesn’t change
o Retention of Champions and League route of qualifying in the UEFA Champions League, ensuring that clubs from all associations can enter through their domestic leagues and qualify for both competitions.
o The UEFA Champions League will continue to have a 32-team group stage leading to a 16-club knockout phase. Similarly the UEFA Europa League remains at 48 teams.

Warm balls last night (the draw ;). There are no easy teams, but I couldn’t help but guess who the english teams were getting and who we were getting, UEFA and the EPL are looking after the TV money as many have suspected. The epl teams already get safe passage into the tournament and uefa are trying to make sure as many as possible get as far as possible.
If that’s not the case it certainly seems like it.
Now we know the group, hopefully we will see some movement in transfers, I have a feeling we will lose some of our heroes this week. Could be sore for some.
I hope Brendan has them ready for dons tomorrow, They will be fired up for it after poor start to the season and the whole country behind them, We will have too much for them. By Saturday avo we will hopefully played and beaten all out title opponents.

Yeah, you are right in that. I was a lurker on here for a good number of years but have been more involved over the last few months. I just feel that in the last couple of weeks it has become spiteful and vindictive. TD67 and the Green Man were easy targets this morning and I let go at them. To be fair, the Green Man has responded positively to a couple of posts from others this morning, so hopefully the lack of fuel for the fire will allow it all to calm down.
