Chance for champions to extend lead over St Mirren

191

Two weeks ago, Motherwell were neck-and-neck with Celtic at the top of the table.  A home defeat to St Mirren and another reversal at Ibrox has seen them slip to fourth in the table, but the devil is in the detail.

The Lanarkshire side battered St Mirren but failed to make any of their 20 attempts count, while even the home manager at Ibrox admitted his side were fortunate to take all points.  What Stuart Kettlewell has achieved since taking over from Steven Hammell in February has been incredible.

While Celtic can expect a greater challenge than last week, Motherwell know exactly what is in store for them tomorrow.  Celtic scored six goals across their last two league games, that’s as many as Motherwell have scored in the league all season.  When the champions hit form, no one in Scotland can withstand them.

After making only one appearance last season, Scott Bain is set to double that number tomorrow, due to the suspension of Joe Hart.  He will have an important role to play.

The early kick-off gives us the chance to extend our lead at the top of the table to five points over challengers, St Mirren, on a temporary basis, anyway.  Saints travel to Kilmarnock later, but a win for Celtic would take the wind out of the sails of anyone else with title aspirations.

Celtic Football Club are delighted to announce that Reo Hatate has signed a new five-year deal which will see him remain at the club until 2028.

The 25-year-old midfielder has become a fans’ favourite since joining from J-League side, Kawasaki Frontale, back at the start of 20222, and he becomes the latest player in Brendan Rodgers’ squad to commit his future to Celtic.

  2. Brilliant to see Reo signing new contract.

I get the impression, based on what Brendan said yesterday, that he expects MoR to leave.

You absolute dancer – Superb news. I know he is likely to leave in the next 19 months but he is such a tremendous player, quite unique in fact. And the longer we get to see him wearing the Hoops the better.

Really happy about this news.Ta AT

  7. (Verse 1)

In the land of the thistle, where football’s played with might,

A tale of Rangers’ troubles, I’ll sing to you tonight,

It was a day of reckoning, when debts began to flow,

In the style of Matt McGinn, here’s how the story goes.

    (Chorus)

Oh, Rangers in liquidation, a tale so bittersweet,

The fans, they stood in sorrow, as their dreams faced a defeat,

But through the tears and heartache, a new hope would arise,

In the spirit of the Rangers, they’d reach for the skies.

    (Verse 2)

The Ibrox faithful gathered, with questions in their eyes,

As the club they loved so dearly, faced a daunting enterprise,

Liquidation loomed above them, like a dark and stormy cloud,

But the Rangers spirit burned within them, unbowed, unbowed.

    (Chorus)

Oh, Rangers in liquidation, a tale so bittersweet,

The fans, they stood in sorrow, as their dreams faced a defeat,

But through the tears and heartache, a new hope would arise,

In the spirit of the Rangers, they’d reach for the skies.

    (Verse 3)

They rallied ’round the club they loved, with courage strong and true,

The Gers, they’d not be beaten, they knew what they must do,

From the lower leagues they started, a climb so steep and grand,

With every victory won, they reclaimed their promised land.

    (Chorus)

Oh, Rangers in liquidation, a tale so bittersweet,

The fans, they stood in sorrow, as their dreams faced a defeat,

But through the tears and heartache, a new hope would arise,

In the spirit of the Rangers, they’d reach for the skies.

    (Verse 4)

And as the years rolled onward, they rose above the pain,

With the roar of Ibrox faithful, echoing like a Highland rain,

Through trials and tribulations, they showed their strength and grace,

The Rangers, they were back, and they’d never leave this place.

    (Chorus)

Oh, Rangers in liquidation, a tale so bittersweet,

The fans, they stood in sorrow, as their dreams faced a defeat,

But through the tears and heartache, a new hope would arise,

In the spirit of the Rangers, they’d reach for the skies.

    (Outro)

So here’s to Rangers’ journey, a tale of highs and lows,

In the spirit of Matt McGinn, their story proudly flows,

Through liquidation’s darkness, they found their shining light,

The Rangers, they stand strong, in green and blue so bright.

  8. I want a song about Rangers liquidation that isn’t about their resurrection

    (Verse 1)

In the heart of Glasgow, where legends once did play,

A tale of Rangers’ struggle, I’ll sing to you today,

It’s not about their comeback, nor their spirits tried and true,

But a moment in their history, when skies were far from blue.

    (Chorus)

Rangers in liquidation, a chapter so stark,

When the mighty fell from grace, leaving a scar so dark,

It’s a story of a football club, in a world so cold,

A side of their history, seldom truly told.

    (Verse 2)

Debts and troubles mounting, like a relentless storm,

A financial tempest brewing, causing hearts to mourn,

The blue and white at Ibrox, once proud and strong,

Found themselves in troubled waters, where hope didn’t belong.

    (Chorus)

Rangers in liquidation, a chapter so stark,

When the mighty fell from grace, leaving a scar so dark,

It’s a story of a football club, in a world so cold,

A side of their history, seldom truly told.

    (Verse 3)

As administrators gathered, to assess the damage done,

The fans stood in disbelief, under a merciless sun,

Questions filled the air, like a haunting refrain,

What would be the fate, of this footballing domain?

    (Chorus)

Rangers in liquidation, a chapter so stark,

When the mighty fell from grace, leaving a scar so dark,

It’s a story of a football club, in a world so cold,

A side of their history, seldom truly told.

    (Verse 4)

But this tale isn’t just about despair and pain,

It’s about resilience and the strength to rise again,

For in the darkest hours, a spirit still remained,

A club with a storied history, in the hearts of those retained.

    (Chorus)

Rangers in liquidation, a chapter so stark,

When the mighty fell from grace, leaving a scar so dark,

It’s a story of a football club, in a world so cold,

A side of their history, seldom truly told.

    (Outro)

So let us not forget, this chapter in their lore,

A time when Rangers stumbled, but stood tall once more,

In the annals of their history, this tale will forever be,

A testament to their resilience, through adversity’s decree.

It is those in the Highest positions that dinnae dae their job properly, or something, I think, is a bit more sinister.

It is remarkable how Celtic continue to defy the odds.

I know there are divisions, My Nephew & Neice are the maist Amazing Kids – into 30s now – and they, well Alan does more than Jay follows Sevco, Both have been Incredible looking after my wee maw.

Just caught the BBC Scotland sport news just now.

Roughly went Golf (Ryder Cup), Sevco, Roofe’s injury, Mick Mole followed by,

‘Lastly, a wee bit of football, Reo Hatatae signs a 5 year contract at Celtic’
