Christie transfer breaking all Celtic moulds

538

Celtic’s £500k signing on Inverness attacking midfield player, Ryan Christie (20) is unlike any I have known. The player will remain on loan at Inverness for the rest of the season, a nod to the fact that the Highlanders have been good for his development and first team opportunities would be more limited at Celtic.

He’s a talented player who fits the criteria and we have the money available to bring him in. There’s something of a crop around the same age being acquired. More on this at a later date.

Welcome to Celtic, Ryan.

  1. And here we all are waiting with baited breath on an unknown Croatian CB.

That’s how much your expectations have been lowered. We sell out best player at the last minute and get in someone we don’t have a clue about and now have to somehow bleed in a new defence whilst in the midst of the season.

And Celtic can’t be arsed telling us anything anyway. But still there’s the Croatian FA to rely on.

  2. So it seems likely that we’ll have entered the transfer window with a squad not quite good enough to hold their own in the Champions League…. but depart the same window with no need to fear Champions League humiliation but a squad now too weak for the Europa League.

    Someone’s clucked up. Massively.

And that’s from me, a perennial happy clapper.

PS the loans of Fisher and O’Connell are equally bemusing though on a less serious scale of impact.

    Does that count as a post-modernist-ironic anti-flounce?

  4. I assumed the Simunovic delay was work permit related. I thought he had his medical in London this morning and is back in Croatia with the Under 21s

Serious question… had you ever heard of Virgil before we signed him? Or Victor? Or FraserF…?

  6. Find it hard to believe we didn’t bring a striker in today, did we not just bring in close to 12 million. Not happy

@seanmac76 certainly trying to bring in another striker. 11pm deadline for Europa League so they need to be quick!

Was Fletcher at Hibs when JC was manager?

  8. Sandman,

I’m with pfayr on this. Unless the Croatian dude turns out to be a real gem vvd will be a sizable loss.

Also maybe explain who David Brent is and some of his idiosyncrasies to our younger viewers ;)

  9. Every year we get the drama queen comments.

Aye, they said we were gonna sign him, but there’ll be a last minute snag and it will be spun.

Then , the player in question signs and not one word of remorse, apology or even plain calming down is heard.

We simply move on to the next rumoured signing and apply the same prediction to them.

It’s bizarre! We relive the Willo Flood Window Experience as Groundhog day but we do it twice a year.

I can’t wait till its back to the unglamorous training ground approach to player development, rather than this spend your way to success approach.

P.S. Sorry to see Steve Frail leave- he seemed well liked but may have felt that John Kennedy was promoted ahead of him. Wonder where Stevie is headed.

  10. Not many teams, pretty much anywhere, would not be affected adversely if they were to loose VvD.

If reports are accurate and Jozo has signed, he has some big boots to fill.

I wish him luck, take the chance Jozo, become a hero.

Ryan Christie is a signing I think, in time, will be a great one, I like this Lhad, great potential.

Only hun possibly could make that team maybe would be that Michael Mols comedian, replace Viduka.

Devastating turn of pace over 6 yards.

One hun that frightened me a wee bit when he got near the Celtic penalty area.

    Just a striker then

I’ll take one who has scored an average of 15 per season in the last 3 seasons

  13. Malone Bhoy,

so Celtic cant win either way with the scenario you paint,

are we the only team trying to get deals done at the last minute,

did no one watch SSN between 5 and 6

  16. Italiabhoy as I remember we had secured VVD very early in the transfer window and he was well scouted, this last minute bollox is just desperation and appeasment. He may well turn out to be a superstar but let’s face it out recent track record is awful.

don’t you think that it’s interesting that suddenly Charlie boy bought the assets of the old club and not the club and the history, mmm, someone knows were this is going :-)

I thought it was done elsewhere, makes sense to do it on continent.

Another nonesense of the transfer window is that the end of it always coincides with international break when players are scatterred to all four corners of the globe.

  20. Berahino is stuck at West Brom and has vowed never to play for them again. Come on Peter worth a phone call.,

Easily the worst CQN transfer window ever, perhaps a snapshot of the ‘the disappeared thousands’ who have already voted with their feet and now use the internet to trumpet.

Nowhere near as bad as some of the dreadful Celtic transfer windows under MON ( Michael Gray ) days or the dire WGS ( Willo Flood ) disaster.

  24. Mncelt time will tell. But hilariously if he is any good we will sell him like a shot.

We aren’t building a team,me are just selling anything that moves and hoping the support swallows it.

    We are an absolute shambles.

    ===================================================

VVD is not a bad player. He has got class. I’m still a fan of the big guy. But his culpability in the 2 CL failures have somewhat taken the gloss off him for me; never in a million years did I imagine he’d allow us to blow it against Malmo in the way it happened. Not after Maribor.

Two draws, all we needed. And yes, plenty others to carry the can too but virgil? Thought he was above the basic errors.

It’s softened the blow of his departure for me. We couldn’t have defended the 3 Malmo set-pieces any worse with rookies.

As for those unaware of David Brent – he was, perhaps, one of the finest managers and motivators around, in his own opinion of course. Also, an entertainer…
