Christie transfer breaking all Celtic moulds

538

Celtic’s £500k signing on Inverness attacking midfield player, Ryan Christie (20) is unlike any I have known. The player will remain on loan at Inverness for the rest of the season, a nod to the fact that the Highlanders have been good for his development and first team opportunities would be more limited at Celtic.

He’s a talented player who fits the criteria and we have the money available to bring him in. There’s something of a crop around the same age being acquired. More on this at a later date.

Welcome to Celtic, Ryan.

Hopefully the young players we’ve signed will prove to be more VVD than Balde …

In defence …we have to hope that we get a few games out of Lustig …his experience will be invaluable for the young lads …

Upfront if Griff gets injured we’re in bother …if he doesn’t I think he’ll reach thirty plus goals this season

Good luck to all the new bhoys ….fulfil your potential

You only have to look around CP to get an idea of the number of people who have given up going to the games because they are scunnered by the lack of ambition and the continual bonus driven downsizing orchestrated by PL.

8 years ago we were a spending club with a net investment of around £5 mill every season.

Now we are a selling club bereft of ambition or direction waiting for the return of “National Bigotry Week” to gee the plebs up a bit.

    What a complete shambles.

    And yet still they clap.

  3. Lennon n Mc....Mjallby on

Armstrong and GMS,it has to be said, did the square root of feck all to get us into the CL.

As great as they are ( supposed to be).

Enough from me anyway as who am I,suffice to say the transfer window ain’t half as exciting as it used to be not all that long ago, judgement on new players reserved but welcome to each one of them.

  4. This jozo boy has been watched by Bayern Munich. .. 21 and won 4 league titles

    And just qualified for CL

Branded a wonder kid and PL has just spent 5m on him ….

Might flop. … but it’s looking ok to me

  5. Robert Grieve @robert_grieve

Celtic won’t be signing anyone else tonight. Paperwork for Jozo Simunovic should be rubberstamped shortly. Then lights out.

Forget Europe is Griffits, Ciftci & Stokes good enough for the SPFL? Eff knows what we do if Leigh gets injured.

No amount of spin can cloud what has been a disastrous deadline day & overall transfer window.

Perhaps the planning starts in Janauary!

  6. the glorious balance sheet on

Personally I thought Boyata was more culpable than VVD for the Malmo result.

3-1 deep in injury time in the first leg and we`re coasting and in possession just inside the Malmo half. Boyata plays a crazy lobbed pass which is over James Forrest`s head and goes out of play for a throw in from which Malmo go up the park and win the corner that lead to their second goal. Boyata could have played a square ball to VVD or even back to Gordon or even lump it up into the corner. But no, he had to be a smart@rse.

1st goal in Malmo comes from Boyata not dealing with an attack and giving away the corner. 2nd goal – well after knocking the ball towards our goal Boyata decides to turn his back on play and kick the post while Craig Gordon is manfully trying to deal with a shooting gallery that is being allowed to happen a few yards from his goal line.

Of course Boyata is allowed to be rusty having only played about 10 games in the 2 years before joining Celtic but that makes it even more of a gamble for him to be thrown into games of that magnitude.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think VVD was all that when it came to European games. He seemed to play for himself in the big European games and spent a lot of time moaning at team mates e.g. Izzy at Murrayfield v Legia. But its harsh to lay the blame for Malmo in any great part at him. Where we fell down there was being exposed and going to pot when Lustig went off injured in the home leg (exactly one year after the same thing had happened at CP v Maribor) and not having enough up front. How many saves did the Malmo keeper make over the 2 legs compared to Craig Gordon?

A failure on the part of the coaching staff rather than VVD.

  8. MNCELT

Yes I do, however we have a new defence, so far unreliable. Aberdeen have been winning games consistently for nearly a year, have conceded 1 goal. Even if you’re correct and Celtic go on to win the league, this team is severely weakened. Totally deflated.

  9. glendalystonsils on

    No striker?

God help us if Griffiths gets injured………….and I don’t just mean in Europe.

  10. Oh dear, Celtic sign Croatian defender nor for £1, 2 or 3 million, but more. All the mega depressives will be contemplating a wry grin, and thinking what is the Lawwell up to? Some of them were claiming Virgil was hopeless at Celtic Park and in Malmo. Yet Lawwell managed to get maybe £13 million for the big poseur. It’s times like this when you wish you had Charles Green and Craig Whyte at the helm, men with honour and conviction.

I thought we signed the wrong Bangura and his name wasn’t too difficult.

We had a horrible time being confused by a clan of Camaras so what’s to say we got got the right Croat? I mean Jizi Sinomuvic is harder to spell than Timmy Pukky and we got that one wrong too. Does Lawwell read Croat as well as he can read Finnish or west African?

I have my doubts ‘cos his Serbian is crap and it’s kinda like Croat. And it’s 4,000,000 dinar or whatever they use over there for bartering etc

  12. Clogher Celt.

Yes. If the Zombies survive into next season, they will be limited to whom they can go for. There simply won’t be the money to splash out millions on foreign imports. The sensible thing for them is to cherry-pick the best of the Scottish clubs’ talents, offering similar low wages but a “bigger stage”.

Allan and Christie were definitely among their targets. I think it’s sensible for Celtic to sign both these players because they are good players who will get better. But also because it establishes us as the home of the best young Scottish talent.

  13. No centre forward ? I really don’t believe that neglect. One injury and we are in dangerous waters.

there are few in the team capable of scoring consistently when Commons and Griffiths are excluded.

Real disappointment tonight. Neglect is the term…..

  14. Brogan Rogan Trevino and Hogan supports Oscar Knox, MacKenzie Furniss and anyone else who fights Neuroblastoma on

    Bada Bing

What I am told re Holand and other such countries is that when it comes to young strikers with potential they are simply reluctant to come because they know they can get bigger wages in another league,

My post the other day pointed out that there are European Cup winning teams in Germany who can no longer compete with Stoke, West Brom and Bournemouth FFS!

So the Germans recruit lower down thus putting us further down the pecking order in terms of places where players would like to come.

Regional teams in Spain take players that we might have had a chance of in years gone by and pay fortunes for them – same with England.

We are absolutely the jam in the sandwich. A Big club in terms of past reputation but with no realistic budget in terms of consistent European football at the upper level.

If we break our wage structure for one player we will have to pay more across the board and we can’t afford to do that.

We must generate more income, scout for players better, lobby UEFA more effectively for change, and in the short term improve the policy we have on transfers and signings. That improvement must mean not only spend, but method of spend, timing of spend and so on.

However none of that is easy.

  15. Go tell the Spartim on

Whilst Boyata isn’t Baresi on the ball to blame him for trying a pass that goes out of play is just piecing together Any ole crap to justify an ill conceived argument. If broony heads the ball correctly or even to his right there’s no goal, if Efe makes a tackle on the winger there’s no corner, if VVD or Grodon command the six yard box then they get no goals.

I was there I saw it with my own eyes

  16. GARY67 on 1ST SEPTEMBER 2015 10:23 PM!!Bada Bing!! on 1st September 2015 10:19 pm  It’s obvious that no one at CP knows what a good striker looks like. Maybe it’s not money, it’s who’s looking!!- i meant to finish the post with that point mate….

  17. It started off that they were not good enough to be part of the team.

Now Zig and Zag are the beating heart of the club on the basis we have nobody else.

For the record I rate SA.

He might take another season to get up to speed but he does offer an extra dimension to our current midfield — he has a footballing brain and he is not afraid to use it.

    GMS is another story.

Now starting to understand why he was a 4 game on including 3 MotM awrds / 4 games off including not making the bench player at DU. When he is bad he is shocking — tries too hard and becomes so predictable I hope he never takes up poker.

However he has put some fire in JF’s belly and he was sensational when he was on form earlier in the season.

Here’s hoping he cam become a 6 — 2 type of player this season.

However club saviour he is not.

  18. 67Haven,

I got a text tonight saying there was total panic at Ibrox today. Not sure how close to the info this lad was, and I’m by no means a company law expert myself, but if Our Hero has recorded every conversation he had with Big Hands, and the SFA, and the SPL, and – who knows? – Minty himself… then I’m not sure there’s enough jelly and ice cream in the world…

  19. Fair point stringer. We even get that wrong now!

Mncelt. Really? Is that it? So we aren’t gonna try and we are just gonna make money? Why? What’s the point? Oh and I’d watch that domestic domination point this year.

Robertressel you see I do look up to the stars. Quite literally at times. You see being ambitious , having goals, striving to get better are all healthy. All of which are the exact opposite of what Celtic are doing. It’s Celtic who are digging in the dirt so thank you for making my point for me. I just get angry at the wastefulness of it all. But in all honesty these days I just laugh at it all. I mean who wouldn’t have a wee laugh at turkebhoys raging love of the board. Bless.

BRTH there is nothing wrong with some last minute trading but Celtic love to leave selling the best players to the last minute and then say damn it we just didn’t have time to but. It’s pretty transparent..

  20. Total Farce….Transfer window is now for profit for the PLC.

We did sign a centre forward. He has had limited game time because of a ban from last season. I’d implore you to give the poor guy a chance before writing him off completely.

Surely we Celtic fans treat our players better than that..?

Agree with the sentiment and logic completely.

My view is that we need to find a route into a bigger league. But I don’t believe our custodians have the stomach for the battle. There’s too much risk-free money to be made from ‘the Old Firm’ if/when the other lot get their act together.

  23. Brogan Rogan Trevino and Hogan supports Oscar Knox, MacKenzie Furniss and anyone else who fights Neuroblastoma on

Reported on Twitter that both Steven Fletcher and Mikhu both told Celtic that they did not want to come to Scotland.

In my opinion we should not have been speaking to either in the first place.

  24. Oooooft…

I must admit to being totally underwhelmed by the 8 signings so far in this season’s transfer window:

    1) unknown – and previously unheard of – Belgian goalie

    2) ditto… Croatian-lad, defender

    3) Man City injury-prone reject defender

    4) Man Utd’s reserve/8th choice defender (on loan)

    5) Man Utd’s even-further-down-the-pecking-order defender

    6) SFL Division 1 standard midfielder

    7) SPL Inverness CT 20 year old midfielder

    8) SPL Dundee United forward

… and in the meantime, we lost our two best defenders (VVD & JD)
