Christie transfer breaking all Celtic moulds

538

Celtic’s £500k signing on Inverness attacking midfield player, Ryan Christie (20) is unlike any I have known. The player will remain on loan at Inverness for the rest of the season, a nod to the fact that the Highlanders have been good for his development and first team opportunities would be more limited at Celtic.

He’s a talented player who fits the criteria and we have the money available to bring him in. There’s something of a crop around the same age being acquired. More on this at a later date.

Welcome to Celtic, Ryan.

    Jozo still hasn’t signed.

What the hell are they playing at?

  2. Hooooooopy Birthday to our own Bhundoran Bhoy.

You have been away from the blog for too long chief, get back on.

    I know your lurking:-)

  3. Neganon2.

Our recent record includes Virgil, Victor, Forster, Hooper, Biton, Armstrong, GMS…. not all bad by any means.

You seem to look for the absolutely worst interpretation of every single situation involving Celtic. Always.

  4. now… thats good the Croatian in… at this stage I would take Fletcher in a heart beat… we may not be prolific in England, but he holds the ball up well, also plays others (Griff) in well, and he is a handful… more importantly he is miles better that ANYTHING we have!

And I would be willing to bet ala BBJ/Sutton he would really show his class here…

Italiabhoy as I remember we had secured VVD very early in the transfer window and he was well scouted.

    —–

    Like Boyata, you mean :-)

  6. Neganon2 – We are maintaining a team strong enough to dominate in our home country. At the same time we are running a profitable business. We cannot compete seriously in Europe without spending money we do not have. The sooner every Celtic supporter realizes that, the happier places like this will be.

I am not saying I am happy about it, but I accept it.

  7. Robert Grieve @robert_grieve

Celtic won’t be signing anyone else tonight. Paperwork for Jozo Simunovic should be rubberstamped shortly. Then lights out.

  8. Brogan Rogan Trevino and Hogan supports Oscar Knox, MacKenzie Furniss and anyone else who fights Neuroblastoma on

Can I just make an observation.

I realise that I have no idea if any of the players we have brought in are any good or not – other than Christie obviously and he is young.

Most folk were pretty happy with Armstrong and McKay Stevens, and obviously VVD, Wanyama, Forster, Gordon, Bitton, Commons, Griffiths, and others have proven to be good signings.

We all know that others were completely crap and questions should be asked about that.

However, there are so many really average players around who are getting bloody ridiculous wages that it is hard to fathom just where and how Celtic shop for a decent player especially a striker who is European class.

What is plain is that something has to change because this policy of having one or two big players who you punt for circa £11m every couple of years is a policy which can only logically result in you standing still in real football terms.

I don’t agree with those who say concentrate on the league.

Prepare and plan for going deeper into Europe and the SPFL will take care of itself.

European football is essential to the future of Celtic.

We will never attract good European quality players purely because they want to play in Scottish domestic football. We have to offer meaningful European football to attract players.

Equally, you will not receive anything like £10 or £11m for any player who only plays in our domestic competitions.

No other Scottish team has – so why should we?

However we do need to be smarter and plan better because the odds in Europe are absolutely stacked against us.

We will find it very difficult to emerge from the group stages of the Europa league as the earlier post re Fenerbache shows.

  9. Oh FFS,Neganon on trumpeting his usual,Celtic,board,bashing.

What a sad ,pathetic, morose individual you really are.

If you are so annoyed, disgusted, sick of Celtic, why dont you just p!ss off.

  10. Wonder when the accounts will come out?

What will the squad be like when the dust settles?

Will there be any changes off the park?

Interesting times, far too interesting times for me.

Something however appears rotten at the very heart of the club.

Seemingly spending big money on very obscure second string CB’s?

Makes a change from spending serious money on this seasons dud CF.

How can we get it so wrong — consistently over 5+ years with huge write downs and nothing happens. I understand we need a CF but please no more agent friendly players who are so bad we have to pay them to get shot of them.

    Interesting times indeed.

I wonder how the accounts will be dressed up this year?

How will the crowd develop over the winter — 25K in the park come Christmas?

  11. Ivechangedmyname

This isn’t necessarily my thinking or opinion, but I get the impression Ronny will see the following as his Europa league team

    ———————-C.Gordon——————–

    Lustig. Boyata. Jozo. Blackett

    ———–Brown. Bitton —————

    —-Forrest. ? ? ——–

    ————-Griffiths—————–

The reason I put ? Marks in those two positions, boils down to fact, no one has made those positions their own. The central attacking midfield role used to be Johansens, but his form of late is poor….

So choose 2 from, Johansens, commons, GMS, Allan, Armstrong, to complete the starting 11.

  12. Ah Italiabhoy

Most of those were signed a few years ago, now.

Our recent record is balde, pukki, scepovic, boerigter etc.mand I would be very careful of salivating over Armstrong and GMS. Been watching recently.

Ah it’s funny ain’t it how the,ole happy clappers like to pick n choose.

  13. Neganon – I get your disappointment – I really do.

But you remind me of a good tim mate of mine I no.longer talk celtic to. I wonder why he bothers with it. Everything Celtic to him is shite, depressing, useless, a source of annoyance and cause for endless rants. I gave up with him. Negativity is unbelievably powerful in an unhealthy way. Cynicism is essential but occasionally I wish my pal would look up from his gutter and look at the stars. It can be inspiring….

  14. ItaliaBhoy… Armstrong and GMS will be superstars… add Allan, and now Cristie, we have signed the guys who we used to let leave to Engurlund…

Think they have / will be short of experience for Europe, but will turn into key players for us… remmeber all the stick Broonie used to get when he first joined… remember conversations that we signed the wrong one and should have got Thompson… look how that worked out…

I for one am really glad we are signing up the best of the Scottish up and coming, would have been much happier if this had been complimented by some decent seasoned pro’s, similar to what our usual level competition in europe do on modest budgets

  15. tick tock, tick tock, tick tock. Still waiting with baited breath for us to reveal ‘ the biggest spend since BBJ’ sure its going to be a star striker!! I’m no maths genius but I still think we have a few mill of the loot received for VVD to use up before we will have actually spent anything in real terms Tick tock, tick tock.

  16. This team is not good enough to dominate Scottish Football, everyone forgets Aberdeens poor start last year, not the case this year. Complacency rules, it’s disgusting. Lawell GTF.

  17. SF — His time was 6 years ago.

Now — No thanks there are better out there who will last the season.

  18. Brogan Rogan Trevino and Hogan supports Oscar Knox, MacKenzie Furniss and anyone else who fights Neuroblastoma on

    Neganon

Sorry but it is not just Celtic who are caught up in the last minute trading zone – according to several agents it is the norm outwith those clubs who have loads of money to spend – and by loads I mean those who can spend £15 m UPWRADS – or those who spend purely for a domestic market.

  19. Only a thought, with us signing all of the best young talent in Scotland, are we planning ahead and depriving Sevco?

  20. gordybhoy64

Under either of those circumstances no. If they want to do it right we really need him in plus a striker of quality.

There’s no reason multiple deals can’t be worked on at the same time which seems to be the approach in the past.

  21. BRTH- We can get players from Holland and Croatia, and double or treble their wages, why not a striker though?

  22. Aww it’s Turkeybhoy.

    Woohoo.

With his special blend of angry sychophancy.

Now Turkeybhoy calm down and no need to swear xxxx

Good post mate, the site is open to all… The statistions.

The supporters with memories like elephants.

    Mineshafters/happy clappers.

The jokers… Geordie, Jamesgang, Bsr among so many.

Sometimes, I even read the politicos.

    The hootenannies.

    Can’t beat it.

Anyway, let’s hope we get a striker in. Not long to go for EL cut off. HH

  24. !!Bada Bing!! on 1st September 2015 10:19 pm

It’s obvious that no one at CP knows what a good striker looks like. Maybe it’s not money, it’s who’s looking!!

  25. saltires en sevilla on

I’ve finally reached the conclusion that the blog has to become a pay to join site

Then we can take some comfort that eejits are actually having to stump up for the pleasure of sucking the juice out the place

  26. I heard he was dead on

    Alex O’Henley ‏@OHenleyAlex 21s21 seconds ago

Looks like Simunovic will be last bit of business for @celticfc tonight.IMO would leave them short of attacking options esp for EL.Thoughts?

Looks like another we tried but……… line to come out tonight.

  27. “everyone forgets Aberdeens poor start last year”

    Sid,

And it seems you have forgotten ours.

We a 5 points better off this year that last at the same stage.
