Christie transfer breaking all Celtic moulds

538

Celtic’s £500k signing on Inverness attacking midfield player, Ryan Christie (20) is unlike any I have known. The player will remain on loan at Inverness for the rest of the season, a nod to the fact that the Highlanders have been good for his development and first team opportunities would be more limited at Celtic.

He’s a talented player who fits the criteria and we have the money available to bring him in. There’s something of a crop around the same age being acquired. More on this at a later date.

Welcome to Celtic, Ryan.

Bournesouprecipe. I dont think any player has actually got to be at Parkhead they can surely do deals by video link and fax. However,if we bring in anyone tonight it will have been a done deal hours ago in order to get the medical out of the way or am I wrong ? H.H.

  2. JFH, If it’s a loan they might dispense with the medical. Just getting a little worried it’s taking so long to sort our centre half.

I don’t think you can criticise Ronny for going on holiday.

At this stage of the game, whether he is in his office at CP or on a beach somewhere doesn’t make a blind bit of difference to signing or not signing our targets.

And he can be fairly criticised for many things, IMO, tactics and substitutions being two of them, but I don’t think his work ethic can be questioned.

The transfer window thus far has been an utter disaster for us

We had a top class CB pairing …we now have a hole you could drive a bus thro

    ==============================================

HAD. Or so we thought until the hole appeared in the 5th minute of injury time at CP v Malmo, and remained unfilled throughout the entire second leg.

After the 3 corners debacle, it became evident VVD was over-rated when the chips were down.

Big players get you through games like that, not fail to Sunday League set-pieces. Last two CL final qualifying rounds in the last 2 seasons we’ve gone into the 2nd leg only needing to avoid defeat to reach the promised land. Each time we’ve failed. Virgil was trusted with the keys at the back on both occassions.

I’m relaxed about his depatrure becasue I doubt any of the possible centre backs would have performed worse in those crunch moments.

    Celtic

    Experience needed

These squad players are no use the noo we had a chance to build

In 2012 to have a great European side

    We failed

    We sold

    And sold

    Fecked off

  8. Guernica,

some decent points in your last post,

but you then ruin it by saying sevco don’t fear us,

we would wipe the floor with them

  9. We’ve had Miku, we’re interested in Michu. What next? Are we getting Meeko the racoon from Pocahontas as a mascot?

That’s right CQN, I went there. Don’t look at me like that, I know you’ve all seen it.

  10. guernica

I’ll have a go at predicting the team- I actually think it is fairly predictable since all that has changed is VVD.

    I suspect we will see

    Gordon

Lustig (if fit- Janko if not)

    Boyata

    AN Other

    Izzaguire

    Brown

    Bitton

    Forrest

    Johansen

    Armstrong

    Griffiths

The AN other could be Blackett if RD gets time to work on the training ground with our defence or it will be Efe or Charlie.

We have GMS, Rogic, Allan, Commons and Stokes to come on to change a game

We have Blacket, Ambrose, Mulgrew and Tierney to cover CB and LCB. We have Ambrose, Janko, Lustig and Boyata to cover RB and RCB.

Plus any new signing yet to come. Plus Ciftci, McGregor, Joe Thompson and Derk.

I happen to agree that Aberdeen’s challenge will be even closer though their best recruit was neither Shinnie or McLean but the Liverpool reserve keeper, Ward. Johnny Hayes is their most potent threat on current form.

I fully expect that Aberdeen will not lose all 4 games this year as we did really well against them last year. I still think we will win the league by 6 to 10 points in the end.

As for the Ibrox club don’t fear us- that is just bravado gained from not having to face up to us. If they do draw us in the cup, they will put up a better show than last time but our defenders are better than they are used to and their defenders are poorer than we are used to facing. We should win 4:1 or 4:2, I’d guess. Aberdeen, Hearts and Ross Co. would beat them, IMO

    Absolutely.

I wish VVD all the very best and thank him for some purringly lovely performances when he was here…

    …but in Europe?

I was a lot more upset when we lost Victor.

  12. Ah…the old paperwork trick.

Never got it through on time.

    We tried, but…blah,blah,blah

    Same old crap

People raking it in while the teams goes backwards.

    That’s clever

    HH

  13. GordyBhoy – they don’t fear us. Certainly not the fans I know.

They create more chances than the SPL teams we play most weeks and we can’t keep them out (with VVD!).

IMO we would need to score 3 to beat them. Possible and likely but the gap is not as big as many on here thnk.

Michu….. Tactically a nightmare, injury prone, bad attitude. Basically Sammy without the loyalty and humility.

    Cheers Celtic.

Not sure I am convinced that Michu (or however you spell it) is a massive step forward to be honest.

Cannot see any legal problem re Jozo Simanovic moving to Glasgow. EU allows restricted movement of labour, assuming the UK renewed it recently, but the fact is Jozo has been offered work. Not like he is a Brazilian going to say Portugal.

  21. Based on early season form, My predictions for SPFL Premiership:

Celtic and Aberdeen will fight it out for top two spots- Celtic to win by 6 to 10 points

3rd to 5th will be between Hearts, Ross. Co. and St. Johnstone- I think Ross could be 4th

Final top 6 place will be fought out by the Dundee clubs- no 4th Dundee derby this year

8th to 10th will be ICT, Hamilton and Motherwell

Bottom 2 will be Thistle and Killie with Killie likely to get automatically relegated. So

    Celtic

    Aberdeen

    Hearts

    Ross County

    St. Johnstone

    United

    Dundee

    ICT

    Hamilton

    Motherwell

    Thistle

    Killie

  22. Greeninbingley – if Ronny is on holiday as reported, I would happily let him and whoever sanctioned it go right now.

Do you think Jose Mourinho will be off on holiday today?

    It’s an absolute joke.

What if a player becomes available unexpectedly and we are contacted by an agent? Will get Ronny on the blower, half p@shed after he has finished on the karaoke?

    It’s completely amateurish.

  23. Jungle Jim Hot Smoked on

As time goes by and my confidence in signing Simunivic diminishes, I am wondering where the `news` came from in the first place that we were going to sign him. Where was it first reported?

    JJ

  24. Michu – well knock me down with a feather!

If this guy is the answer then whoever is asking the questions should be shot!

Plenty of deadwood still hanging around I see – Master Stokes should be punted Asaph

McGregor adds nothing apart from comic value with that running style of his – his nickname has to The Penguine!

Is it true that RD has chosen now to go on holiday?

Obviously he trusts PL to deliver on his intended targets!

Still no decent defensive mids on the books!

    The EL could be brutal.

  25. Virgil really was good with Denayer beside him. They were a good CB partnership but Virgil couldn’t handle being the main man. That was obvious last season when Jason was out injured and Efe was left to take the flak for flaws. The truth is Virgil can’t be the number #1 central defender; the one who carries others through.

In recent weeks it has been clear that he has been playing further and further away from his central defensive partners; Boyata and Efe. He was always comfortable being number #2 to Jason. Being number #1 is alien to him, it is not in his makeup. He was out muscled by Jon Inge Berget, where it mattered (in the box) when it mattered (our 2 most important games).

Virgil is a really good player but not as good as Jason, who on paper was his junior. For his own sake I hope he teams up with a leader in the Southampton defence, because anything else is never going to be his gig.

    I’m happy with the sale.

  26. We were told it would take 3 or 4 windows for Ronny to mould the team.

If I was picking a team for a game tomorrow, of Ronnys signings only 3 would be in it – and Boyata or Ambrose would be debatable. Add to that, Lenny had agreed for Craig Gordon to come in prior to Ronny starting.

So therefore, 3 windows have brought us one first team player – Stuart Armstrong ( and many would have Commons in ahead of him).

Paisley Bhoy. I would agree with your assessment I see VVD as the cultured Centre Back but he needs a hard grafter alongside him in order to get the best from him. H.H.

  30. It seems to me that no one has a clue if anyone else is coming, if not this leaves us will a lack of experience at the back the continued tactic of two wide players in midfield and an injury to leigh griffiths away from having no striker, Ciftci has not impressed me at all, are Celtic serious about trying to win the league this year?

  31. !!Bada Bing!! on 1st September 2015 8:46 pm

Hopefully the first of many changes in the coaching set up below the first team. We need to produce more players good enough to play, regularly, for us not Ross County.
