CL millions floating across Glasgow

363

Tonight, we see the conclusion of the first of two ties that don’t involve Celtic but have a significant bearing on our income and domestic competitive stance.  Union Saint-Gilloise take a 2-0 lead to Ibrox, a result that in earlier times brought an 80% success rate.  Without the away goals rule, the advantage is reduced, Union also lost heavily at the weekend.  Newco will be rightfully confident of progress.

Qualification for the Champions League play-off round is worth over £5m in prize and gate money.  Celtic stand to earn an extra £3m if Newco are eliminated at this round or the next; that money would otherwise float across Glasgow to become part of Newco’s European bounty.  More importantly, our casino-football addicted rivals would be denied expensive chips to place before the transfer window closes.  No apologies for watching CL qualification closely this year.

Just a year ago, Celtic were eliminated from the Champions League the second qualification round by Midtjylland.  The transformation between then and now could scarcely be imagined.  A year ago, it was significantly more unlikely for Newco to reach the Europa League final.  We cannot underestimate them, or the significance a Champions League windfall would have.

442 – genuine question – what do you think is the solution to the problem you’ve identified?

    “““`

Season ticket renewal time – Celtic fans withhold their money for a period of 6 weeks AFTER renewal date, then Celtic PLC wll have to clear direct debits out of their own personal wealth, or they’ll have to sell assets, players, to pay the bills.

During the 6 week period the share price will fall, the PLC will have failed, and they’ll have to resign, or doors kicked in and dragged out.

Then Timmy has to screw the nut and NOT be suckered into paying ANY PLC off in share vaue.

That’s why the 6 week period is crucial – share price destroyed = NO pay out`s!

Then TIMS have to appoint a leader who can be trusted to NOT be mugged, by MSM, or any other organ of the establishment.

A dark horse suggestion for leadership of Celtic executive, MICK LYNCH?

Any name uggested by me will be resoundingly smeared by CQN.

  2. not too impressed with the huns tonight , you would have to fancy PSV or Monaco .

Then again with the luck they carry , who knows.

Petec – the good ghuys will win in the end!

    ……………………………

We both know that, but it is stomach churning at times.

  4. Thanks for the reply 442. That would be a considerable ask.

I’ve been an advocate of something similar to what the Celtic Trust are attempting although I’m not convinced they have the model right as yet.

  5. I didn`t see the game but 3-0 seems quite convincing, They are obviously a decent side and I would be very worried if our players,Manager etc viewed them the way many on here claim to.

Do they get CL money after tonight`s victory or do they have to overcome PSV ( Likely winners tonight) before receiving any jackpot?

  6. Sickening. Absolutely sickening.

From what I hear a lucky penalty and a strange interpretation of the rules preventing a sending off.

Also hearing 50,000 turned up paying over £45 a time and backed their team for 2 hours, even when they were looking in difficulty.

Anyone dismissing the Newco is not too smart. Anyone seeing them and their performance as irrelevant to us really is not too smart at all.

I sincerely hope PSV / Monaco can do what the wee Belgian outfit failed to.

I ain’t holding my breath though. This mob and their media sycophants have belief. However misplaced we think that is.

  7. Hot smoked.

Main income to come from tonight is for reaching CL qualifier stage they get a decent wedge and also a bumper gate from another qualifier.

TV rights to qualifiers are shared and hence they get guaranteed revenue. Even if eliminated.

If they do qualify then clearly they benefit from gate money from 2 ties as well.

Thanks…..but I was hoping to hear different !

    `night all.

  9. They also would get a share of the regional tv pot from us of course if they do qualify for CL.

  10. Burnley,

Two absolute howlers put them through.Remember,no one gave this team a chance when they drew them.

    World beaters they ain’t.

  11. BBC scotland think they have qualified for the group stages😀

Almost orgasmic reaction on ‘The Nine’ when the third goal went in -as professional as a seagull outside a chip shop!

  12. Huns are a poor team that will get exposed this season.

We’ve got nothing to fear with them.

I hope they don’t sell Kent.

  13. The only positive we can cling onto is that PSV are a decent outfit. Very unlucky to lose out to Ajax last season. They will be no pushovers.

Annoying the newco are taking cash to the bank at all though.

  14. Turkeybhoy

I know but they pulled back 3 goals and lost none. The energy and oxygen this fills their lungs with is massive.

Pleased the Dutch did a similar win from losing position. Pleased first leg is at Ibrox also. Tough return game after Easter road which will be a tricky game for them sandwiched between 2 qualifiers.

  15. Bankiebhoy and Jinkyredstar

Miller especially and the BBC are hunbelievable

It is weird when only Foster offers a balanced view on things.

  16. Tom McLaughlin on

    BURNLEY78

Dodgy penalty? You’re having a laugh. It was an absolute stonewall hand ball.

  17. Main thing is that we beat the fuckers last season.

I have no doubt that we’ll win the league again this year.

Thanks for the reply 442. That would be a considerable ask.

I’ve been an advocate of something similar to what the Celtic Trust are attempting although I’m not convinced they have the model right as yet.

    “““`

I’m not sure the Celtic Trust can be, trusted?

Not street wise or smart enough, so at the moment, NOT good enough, imho.

The CT, as far as I could make out, allowed themselves to be coached out of backing a season ticket boycott, by David Lowe`s influence, just as the PLC conspired to ensure that Celtic didn’t win 10 in a row.

If the PLC were fired up to win the 10, then NL would’ve been sacked before Christmas, a serious club would’ve taken an executive decision and replaced NL, in an attempt to win the 10, but Celtic are led by establishment puppets, who looked at the long term consequences for Ibrox, ad chose the “easy” option, throw Celtic fans under the bus. coz they’ll just suck it up anyway, but NL was allowed to continue simply digging the hole deeper, and burying the 10 in that hole.

Mainly thanks to the CT soft shoe shufflers, NO season ticket boycott took place, and Celtic PLC did the establishments bidding, by throwing the 10 under the bus! 👀
