Clear rule required on storms

770

Although I believe it was the rain which caused the cancellation of today’s game it was the storm which caused me most concern. Football should not be played when a storm strong enough to cause structural damage is expected. Any building can be affected by a storm. While there is a tiny chance that any football stadium will be damaged, the consequences of a roof part landing on a packed stand would be severe.

There should be a clear rule on this.

The Foundation Christmas Appeal bucket collection has been postponed for two weeks. This is a critical period for all of the agencies who were due to receive funds from this appeal, I know the Foundation are working with them in the interim period. Today’s attendance would probably have been low due to the conditions, so hopefully the delay will raise more money than we would have raised had today’s game gone ahead.

For those that haven’t seen it yet might want to take the opportunity of watching ’71 coming up on Film 4. Interesting story set in 1971 in the North of old Ireland. Play within a play in many ways, and written by Scottish playright Gregory Burke, author of acclaimed post Iraq play ‘Blackwatch’. Seems authentic enough to me, though of course I wasn’t there at the time. Recommend it!

Luckily for me growing up I always had a ball, as I said before I have never known a referee to actually be able to play football even at our lowest level, Andrew Dallas must be the proud product of a father who couldn’t kick doors at Halloween…… Thank goodness I was never born to be a referee

Anyway fellow Celtic fans good night and God bless

Ex-Morton goalie turned ref sent me off for calling him a clown at 14 when I had rounded the goalie and was about to stroke the ball in the net. Keeper pulled me down. We were 2-1 down in a league decider. He ended up getting a gig in the pro game. Another hun. I hate refs and polis. Brits anaw.

    Andrew Waddell, eh?

He was our House Warden at Pollock Halls (no laughing!), my Edinburgh University Student Residence, when he sent me off, in a Summer Cup game, for a hard-but-fair 10 yard long sliding tackle, for the only time in a long (pish) career, way back in 1978.

It wasn’t long after that when he had the nose-to-nose on the touchline with Big Billy.

    Distinguished Pathologist, and definitely non-Hun!

Davidson (Airdrie) worst ever, closely followed by Gordon (Newport on Tay). They make Dallas, McCurry and Dougall look fair.

Some of the older crowd on here might remember the ref who kicked off the Tully – Cox riot early 50s. Was he the same guy who Celtic players claimed they could smell whisky from, during another blatantly biased display in a match v deadclub?

  16. RH Davidson was the most bitter, biased bigoted referee in the long dishonorable history of Scottish officiating.

The RH stood for Right Hun.

  17. Was reading to some of the BBJ comments , and kept my thoughts to myself but need to share…

At a Sportsman’s Dinner around 6 weeks ago and listened to the most soup supping performance ever from an ex Celt ….who nearly played for the Huns (if he’d have passed the medical)

Hardly mentioned Celtic at all…..apart from describing his time in SPL like shooting fish in a barrell

He was asked the best player he’d ever played with and said it was…..Denis Bergkamp…..

Never mentioned Henrik, even once, all night….

Nearly played for the. Huns……remember that…..

Thankfully the taxi turned up quickly that night…
