Clear rule required on storms

770

Although I believe it was the rain which caused the cancellation of today’s game it was the storm which caused me most concern. Football should not be played when a storm strong enough to cause structural damage is expected. Any building can be affected by a storm. While there is a tiny chance that any football stadium will be damaged, the consequences of a roof part landing on a packed stand would be severe.

There should be a clear rule on this.

The Foundation Christmas Appeal bucket collection has been postponed for two weeks. This is a critical period for all of the agencies who were due to receive funds from this appeal, I know the Foundation are working with them in the interim period. Today’s attendance would probably have been low due to the conditions, so hopefully the delay will raise more money than we would have raised had today’s game gone ahead.

  1. Ah can mind when ye dribbled yer baw aw the way the skoo…….l almost impossible to do that now especially when granny or grandpa are picking you up or dropping you aff in their Audi 4×4

  2. Mickbhoy 1888. Think I have dealt with this one before. Smith was actually seen on TV at the front of the procession leading the Pope into the Cathedral in Edinburgh. He may have been at Bellahouston for the Mass, but not as a server. That was the lot of the seminarians that day. Believe me I have very good reasons to know this.

Yeah, it’s all valid comment for kids football.

I ran a youth team for a wee while, biggest problems were always the grass parks, impossible to play football on in the winter.

But the biggest issue is different, it’s the disparity in physique, some kids are a head taller (pr more) and that does neither them or their smaller players any good. It gives some a massive advantage, whilst stunting development of other kids, who simply get out-muscled.

Ultimately, they’ll face that as men, but it shouldn’t be prevalent at development stage.

Yep, cant agree more, perfect playing surface.. even, level, and no excuses.

Afraid those who hark back to grass, are just being romantic and probably have never played on modern synthetic.

We live on the very southern tip of Arctic circle….jeez, our weather, even in Summer can prove difficult to get a good playing surface. Naw,sorry guys.. in 20 years time, people will look back and wonder why it took so long to make the change.

I must say, to be fair the scouts these days are wide to that. They really do look for technique. My bhoy is a wee guy and a bit of a pussy when it comes to the nitty gritty of the game, but he’s out with 3 clubs at the moment and they dont seem to be bothered with that. Ive been told it will come when he gets a few kicks which might be right. Its aw different now. I just let them get on with it. No one likes a da thats a beef biryany shouting at weans.. I just throw the baw at him when hes no expecting it so he learns to trap it in wan touch.

I tell him its just a game. Games are meant to be fun

Very surprising that. If you can post exact details of when and where this happened I will arrange an interview with BBJ through the club and challenge him on this.Even better you could come along as an eye witness and put the questions to the big man himself.

Many of us regard him as a true Celt and real gentleman but I hear he has a fierce temper when wronged.

M C Dale was the intoxicated ref.

    It was pre Tully era.

I think he sent George Paterson off and awarded a ” controversial” penalty against Celtic.

Apparently even George Young was embarrassed.

Ha Ha.. aww man, aye, only if the janny was out early enough to line the ‘Park’.. If you had sawdust, well its 1 nil to M M.

I was at Fairie Street primary, (St Columbkilles), we played at the Overtoun park, yep black ash!!, (later turned out to be the dumping ground for every poisionis chemical from the local Whytes Works).. in them days, we had ‘trials’ for the school team!!.. Mr McGhettigan was the janny and Terry Heaney was the teacher who took the team.

There was a boy called Bobby Murdoch who played the ‘Killes Secondary.. dont know what became of him.

of his line of vision and his decisions were bizarre to

    Gerry…,

I think this time the appeal will get knocked back. The judgement was in law, by three very senior judges.

    Their teas oot :)

    ____________

    Hail Hail fella.

I thought that their tea was oot when their animal-fans wrecked Manchester.

But, my paranoid-always-read-between-the-lines-nature…kicked in and told me to, always expect the unexpected where the huns are concerned.

After match battle on the pitch, after a cup final that Celtic defeated the huns in(quelle surprise)in 1980….was the ‘only’ time that the huns have been dealt…true justice….and, it was administered by the Jungle-clientele who where in the Celtic end at Hampdump on ‘that’ memorable day.

George Smith gave the best refereeing performance that I have seen. Always remembered. Thank you.

But, getting down to the nitty-gritty….the only types of folk who’ll want to administer ‘true’ justice to der-hun…are, those who’ve seen them in the raw.

    Anyway….their teas oot ?…..only if….Celtic are restructured….imho.

Nain oh this p#sh that it’s nothing to do with Celtic……..that comes from those who don’t know what it feels like to be a hurting Tim.

    ……bye……
