Clear rule required on storms

770

Although I believe it was the rain which caused the cancellation of today’s game it was the storm which caused me most concern. Football should not be played when a storm strong enough to cause structural damage is expected. Any building can be affected by a storm. While there is a tiny chance that any football stadium will be damaged, the consequences of a roof part landing on a packed stand would be severe.

There should be a clear rule on this.

The Foundation Christmas Appeal bucket collection has been postponed for two weeks. This is a critical period for all of the agencies who were due to receive funds from this appeal, I know the Foundation are working with them in the interim period. Today’s attendance would probably have been low due to the conditions, so hopefully the delay will raise more money than we would have raised had today’s game gone ahead.

  1. Just got a text from my mental Turkish betting mate.He says, quote”Watching the Liverpool game.I bet Leicester,to win,Liverpool to draw.Big money if it wins”,

Oh,ffs,I was watching this game with ease before.

The ref counting to ten yards, I remember against that liquidated mob there was no way they were ten yards back, Tommy Boyd walked the yards, got to 7 steps where that mobs wall was, the ref booked Tam Boyd…… I blame the schools as Tommy went to the same school as myself, by the way the ref left their wall where it was !

  3. A wee update on our plan to get Tommy Gemmell a TV package so that he can enjoy the matches when he comes out of hospital.

CQNers – both lurkers and posters – have been rallying round and contributing to this.

Today I visited the Sky stand in St Enoch Centre and I think the guys were a bit surprised when they ask if they could help me and I said ‘Aye can you tell me which team you support?”

The Bhoys proceeded to sort us out with a 25% discount and added as much to the deal as they possibly could.

Tommy will get wind of this tomorrow and hopefully it will give him a boost to know he’s getting this installed on 8th January (he’s expected to be in hospital over the festive period).

When it’s installed Doc has agreed to come round and show Tommy how to operate his Sky Box and he’s going to bring Doc Senior who is 82 and the two old Bhoys can have a right good chat together.

We’ll add BT at that point and will have news on whether we can add Celtic TV to the mix too.

I paid the deposit as my own contribution and with CQNers contributing we will make sure all is paid on an ongoing basis.

If anyone wants to make a small contribution email me and I will give you Paul’s Paypal details.

Hopefully this will cheer Tommy up considerably. Well done all these how contacted me on Friday and Saturday evenings. God bless you all.

In different eras both might have counted out the steps, but, even though I am usually incorrect, Tommy Boyd got booked at the Celtic end at Parkhead when he counted 7 steps, if I was a fraction as good as Roy Croppie I would dig out the footage, if TB is at CQN12 he will be my main witness to call

    HH WC,

    Well done mate!!

You say you are going to add BT….would that be BlantyreTim? :)

  6. Gerry…,

No sure why he would count out seven steps at the Celtic end, that would imply the freekick was against us and they were shooting, no ?

No saying Boydy didn’t do a step count but definitely remember Lenny getting booked for same, only it was in their half and it was our freekick.

Growing up it was the main stand, the jungle, the Celtic end and the Coatbrig end (Rangers end back then) called the Coatbrig end to a few ML5ers back in the day as it was nearest leaving point for us…. Tommy Boyd got booked defending the left hand goal if you were sitting in the dugout

Exactly, hence the “if” in my post…. I had to check to make sure I put the if in

By the way the funny thing is apart from Lenny & Tommy Boyd, who else gets booked for counting out steps, cheating ref bans !

  10. Gerry…,

I did laugh at the size if the steps Lenny took, it’s called dissent and I doubt anyone else done it, whether we were being cheated or no, wearing the hoops should know better.

  11. On this day 6th December I was born.

7 years later Volunteers William Flemming and Danny Doherty were shot dead in Derry by the SAS on Thatchers shoot to kill policy. We remember their sacrifice

Exactly, I really hope Dallas (Hugh not ours) are on that hidden Ebt list, if, it hits London it’s an open court BUT BDO have asked for leave to appeal…..playing to the audience

  13. Gerry…,

I think this time the appeal will get knocked back. The judgement was in law, by three very senior judges.

    Their teas oot :)

There is a thing in every man. Do you know this thing my friend?

It has withstood the blows of a million years, and will do so till the end. . .

  15. There’s an inner thing in every man,

Do you know this thing my friend?

It has withstood the blows of a million years,

And will do so to the end.

It was born when time did not exist,

And it grew up out of life,

It cut down evil’s strangling vines,

    Like a slashing searing knife.

It lit fires when fires were not,

And burnt the mind of man,

    Tempering leadened hearts to steel,

From the time that time began.

It wept by the waters of Babylon,

And when all men were a loss,

    It screeched in writhing agony,

And it hung bleeding from the Cross.

It died in Rome by lion and sword,

    And in defiant cruel array,

When the deathly word was ‘Spartacus’

    Along the Appian Way.

It marched with Wat the Tyler’s poor,

    And frightened lord and king,

And it was emblazoned in their deathly stare,

    As e’er a living thing.

    It smiled in holy innocence,

    Before conquistadors of old,

So meek and tame and unaware,

Of the deathly power of gold.

It burst forth through pitiful Paris streets,

    And stormed the old Bastille,

And marched upon the serpent’s head,

And crushed it ‘neath its heel.

It died in blood on Buffalo Plains,

And starved by moons of rain,

Its heart was buried in Wounded Knee,

But it will come to rise again.

It screamed aloud by Kerry lakes,

As it was knelt upon the ground,

And it died in great defiance,

As they coldly shot it down.

It is found in every light of hope,

It knows no bounds nor space

It has risen in red and black and white,

It is there in every race.

It lies in the hearts of heroes dead,

    It screams in tyrants’ eyes,

It has reached the peak of mountains high,

It comes searing ‘cross the skies.

It lights the dark of this prison cell,

    It thunders forth its might,

It is ‘the undauntable thought’, my friend,

That thought that says ‘I’m right!’

  16. Gerry-I remember the NL penalty incident well,KC best excuse is always ‘when you see it again, nobody feels as bad as the ref…..’ Aye right HH

  18. Canamalar-if and when the BDO appeal fails, the Board have to take the bull by the balls and come out all guns blazing. There is too much riding on this for a lot of long standing supporters, and more importantly for PL,ST holders. I know a lot of guys who won’t be back ,if we don’t pursue this to the nth degree. They will probably acquiesce to the ‘civil disorder ‘,bollox,we need Peter Lawwell and Desmond to step up to the plate. I have my doubts though. HH

JPR Gordon at Ibrox in January 1978 and the resultant hun goal was the worst I have seen the late Colin Jackson all over Joe Craig then they ran up the park and scored.

HMRC were expecting this to go on for years, BDO are trying not to be the ones who finish it off (while earning more than any creditor will ever see)…. When one of the court cases were in Edinburgh it was behind closed doors which has never happened for that type of hearing, let it get to a London court, I sincerely hope the FIFA stuff keeps going then our allegedly corrupt SFA custodians will have nowhere to hide, I wonder if Gordon Smith while at the Sfa had an Ebt ? Just wondering, Celtic got fined for tapping Tommy Burns from Killie, meanwhile the man with no surname walks out on his Sfa muckers, not a peep

  23. 67Heaven .. CHALLENGING THE LIE ..I am wee Oscar...... Ipox belongs to the creditors on

    TBJ / Gerryfae the brig,

In the final analysis, they all contributed to the demise of derhun, since they positioned them on a false pedestal…….fortunately, even with this corrupt ‘assistance’, they were found out on the park, and sunk without trace (apart from a tribute act) HH

  24. Gerry-I have always found it suspicious how Duffield was in jobs at Hampden and Ibrox in quick succession, the likes of Peat couldn’t sow duffel coats on to buttons, they would make Wiggy look like Steve Jobs ffs
