Clear rule required on storms

770

Although I believe it was the rain which caused the cancellation of today’s game it was the storm which caused me most concern. Football should not be played when a storm strong enough to cause structural damage is expected. Any building can be affected by a storm. While there is a tiny chance that any football stadium will be damaged, the consequences of a roof part landing on a packed stand would be severe.

There should be a clear rule on this.

The Foundation Christmas Appeal bucket collection has been postponed for two weeks. This is a critical period for all of the agencies who were due to receive funds from this appeal, I know the Foundation are working with them in the interim period. Today’s attendance would probably have been low due to the conditions, so hopefully the delay will raise more money than we would have raised had today’s game gone ahead.

no idea what it is though, possibly involves a leek, several sheep, and a car load of large bearded men singing

    or it might be soccer

    great result for EK

though the local businessmen who own the club have a Marmite reputation in the town, though they are jungles which is good

and now that they dont have as many high up local politician ‘friends’ as they used to, they may find getting permission for their plans for the club (and their own business) might not be as straightforward as it used to be

    EK OK

No way in hell they are beating Wolfsburg in the CL, which I think means they don’t qualify, and LVG will then get the sack. :O)

So that’s why Warby turned down Fulham (allegedly).

  13. Chelsea sure love a face mask.

On Gerryfaethebrig advice, gonna order a phal and if the delivery driver ends up in Oz then you’re to blame

Hopefully Neil can keep them up then do exactly what you said he should have done, funny he was one of the favourites for the Leicester job at one point, now look at them, think Tony Watt would have enjoyed scoring his goal against his former manager today

  19. GreeninbingleyinOslo on

I hope Lenny keeps them up as well but I don’t think his standing will be harmed if they go down.

BWFC is a basket case – a shame, always had a soft spot for them.

Used to go to Burden Park with the ex-wife and her Bolton family 20-odd years ago.

Saw a very good young centre back playing for them – totally delighted when we signed him – Alan Stubbs.

    What a player.

Thanks DOC for the info that Tommy Gemmell is in Forth Valley hospital. Can I respectfully suggest that everyone on CQN sends him a Get Well Soon card? He’s from a generation that liked hand-written letters so include a wee note as well.

What a good idea. I will get a card and a wee letter in the post tomorrow.

I will never forget Tommy’s kindness a couple of years ago when CQN published his book.

I told him a bit about my ailing 86-year-old uncle’s life – survivor (just) of the Clydebank Blitz, merchant seaman, head of a family of daughters, grandkids, great-grandkids, all of whom are a credit to him, was in the heat of Lisbon to watch what was Tommy’s finest hour.

Tommy very courteously signed his book for my uncle and wrote a personal message: ‘To Bill Kelly – from one Lion to another’ which left the old fella utterly speechless.

Get well soon, Mr Gemmell, a hero on and off the pitch.
