Clear rule required on storms

770

Although I believe it was the rain which caused the cancellation of today’s game it was the storm which caused me most concern. Football should not be played when a storm strong enough to cause structural damage is expected. Any building can be affected by a storm. While there is a tiny chance that any football stadium will be damaged, the consequences of a roof part landing on a packed stand would be severe.

There should be a clear rule on this.

The Foundation Christmas Appeal bucket collection has been postponed for two weeks. This is a critical period for all of the agencies who were due to receive funds from this appeal, I know the Foundation are working with them in the interim period. Today’s attendance would probably have been low due to the conditions, so hopefully the delay will raise more money than we would have raised had today’s game gone ahead.

What are the chances of Ashley wiping his erse with them and then walking away.

Not before flushing them down the u-bend, surely.

    SAINT STIVS,

So much better than watching the overhyped EPL, glad to see Leicester sitting on top. If ever there was an example of how important the spine of a team is then Man City proved it today. Ronny take note.

  3. The Centenary clincher was against Dundee, managed by Jocky Scott.

The Dunfermline fans unfurled a banner in the Rangers end with the legend “happy birthday Celtic”. We won the fixture 1-0, a week before the Scottish cup final victory.

thanks for the clarification BCW but i’m sure they must of been relegated and the legend said ‘we’ll be back” also.

  4. Alcora,

I was one of those singing in the rain. My mate had one of the trannies that relayed the news from Dundee. The noise after their first goal was so loud, he could hardly tell us they had scored a second. Great day.

Mind you, the atmosphere when we beat beat Dundee at Celtic Park, when there was any number you care to name in the ground by 2 o’clock, was not too bad either.

Yes that’s right……..they were relegated at that point. Seem to remember the Jungle sang “you’ll be back” too.

Good man ,I was in the jungle and when the overfill from the CELTIC end was ushered around the park to the deed club end , ma wee pal and me jumped out ‘Just to say we were on the park you understand’ and went into the hun end.

We then worked our way through to the rhs of the hun end then ran on to the pitch.

    Happiness is being a Tim

  8. The Dundee game in 88 went into the jungle had to get out it was packed . Then went to Rangers end mental also ended up sitting on track in front of main stand . What a day the best season of my life bar none.

  9. Interesting when a job comes up down south Sevco current manager is linked, but not our own?

Don’t think it’s all about being at a settled club!

  10. If anyone is seeking genuine mirth this Saturday evening, please let me reccommend the SONS OF STRUTH Facebook page.

It is truly magnificent, I promise.

And you can get tickets for this fundraiser…

“Last few tickets. PM for details.

Ferguson (Ian and Derek), Bomber,Charlie Miller and Bobby Tait in aid of Rangers Charity.”

Can’t remember any Bobby tait playing for rangers. Yup, you know the rest.

We are meant to laugh about this now. Not me.

  11. Aiden Bhoy,

I had arranged to meet my mate in the Hayshed (Jungle), in our usual spot. By 2 o’clock, Janefield Street was packed. I went in to the Rangers End (for one of the few times until I had a seat there for a couple of seasons). By the time the game started, it too was packed solid.

I had an uncle who manned the turnstiles at the time; he told me they stopped counting when they reached 60,000. That was why they let the kids on to the running track. It’s anybody’s guess how many were there that day.

Today’s postponement could work out well for celtic

No new injury concerns and a couple of days off. Head to Warmer ( hotter ) weather and treat the fenerbache match as a training game .

Sunday before we play again with no mid week match to follow before mother well a week later.

  13. Estorilbhoy….Dont know about Warbs, But there Aint no one looking at Deila..

    Trust on That…Laughing..

  14. Bobby Tait, had the misfortune to hear him at a amateur sportsmans dinner. Does exactly as it says on the tin. It is going to take a lot more than the like of the bold Bobby to get them back to where they think thety should be. Very interesting to hear te man with the magic say in his press conference during the week that journalists should do their research and get the facts right before they go to press. If only that was the case, you would be managing in division 2 having just come up from the lowland league. Interesting times ahead.

  15. BGX, interesting that, with the managerial jobs going down south, Ronnie is never linked with them. When NL was our manager he was continually linked with a move. As I said, market forces don’t lie!

Was in the Zombie end in 88 ran on park only to turn around and see my brother getting decked of a copper. He was about 13 was hilarious he got slaughtered all the way home on the supporters bus. Great days he still goes to the game’s so it never scarred him.

  17. Guys, Just to let you know for the support that couldn’t make it to the game today. The result was ST.Andies bc 2 Renfrew 1 . MOTM The Holy Gollie.

  18. Winning Captains

Sad to hear about TommyG, hopefully he will pull through soon.

Even sadder to read about him having no Sat tele, and even worse than that, having a sub for the Celtic View, a sub ffs, that is shocking.

I must admit that I thought, naively, that ex players, esp ex Lions would be looked after without a second thought.

Every day a school day. I’ve just discovered that the old Scottish pint was the equivalent of about 2.75 Imperial pints or about 1.7 litres. I say bring back the Scottish pint at the same price as an Imperial pint. Anybody interested in signing a petition for its reintroduction?
