Commons touch and experience needed

I was pleased Ronny Deila fronted up for the press conference yesterday. He didn’t say anything particularly revealing but it was reassuring that the pressure of the last week hasn’t seen him hide from searching questions.

Mention of clear the air talks at Lennoxtown was welcome. It lets us know that the fans are not the only ones who believe the ‘air’ hasn’t been right recently. It will also, hopefully, have given anyone harbouring a grievance to get it out.

One of the manager’s biggest decisions for Sunday is who to trust in midfield. He needs players who will respond to the circumstances, and who can open what will be a packed defence. Guys who have been over the ground before, who know how to dig deep in the face of adversity, are also required. For me that means a start for Kris Commons.

It must be ten years I’ve been reading the same things from you. The question has to be asked, if you’re so certain about the deceit at the heart of our football club why does sum total of your efforts to affect change seem to be pointing out the lies on a footbsll blog and telling people to stop attending Celtic park. Unless I’m missing something, it doesn’t really amount to much and it doesn’t appear to be working

what have you or are you going to go about it?

    _________________________________________________

He dizny have to do anything….it’s already happening and, has been happening since MO’N’s departure in 2005 when he – the year before – pointed out that, the club were going to embark on a policy that would, in effect downsize the quality of the product that fans pay to see on the pitch.

Since Lawwell returned to the club in 2004, 40,000 empty seats have appeared inside the stadium as well as, 12,000 supporters disappearing off the waiting list.

Think about that – 52,000 fans mismanaged oot the door.

    Mismanaged by whom ?

Arguments and, counter arguments will rage in the near future about this.

In 1994, fans called a bhoycott to remove the old board.

Fans like myself who travelled the length and breadth of the country to see the Cellic since I was 6 years old had to stay away to save the club in the home game v’s Kilmarnock.

It seemed strange staying away from what was yer way of life.

But, having had guid counsel from the educated Tims of, Not The View, Once A Tim and, having been at the Celts For Change meetings and, indeed the game at Celtic Park that kicked it all off in the early 90’s v’s Dunfermline and we lost, Davie Moyes was playing for the Pars that day…the atmosphere was turning ugly at the games and fears that the Cellic were gonnae die were too real…frightening times to be a Tim.

The big problem in those days was because of the Taylor report demanding all-seated stadiums.

Now, 22 year down the road and, we’ve the biggest and best all-seated stadium in the country.

Problem these days is….there seems to be an unofficial bhoycott taking place, only difference is, the fans have already paid for their seats but….don’t go.

The club could have a problem next season, trying to sell SB’s if, folk are gonnae be buying them then, not attending.

I’m only guessing but, I think that the Celtic hierarchy are in the throws of the last waltz.

God help the Celtic next season if, the non attenders don’t renew.

Don’t get me wrong….I’ve not got a problem with th hierarchy re: spending money on the team…they do.

The problem for me is….the recruitment is all wrong.

Some guid players are at CP just now.

A lot of useless players are there as well.

It’s the continued pursuit of these useless players that makes me suspicious.

Surely, wasting money is a drain on resources ?

So, why repeat the same mistakes ?

My theory….sumdy is on the make.

What folk need to realize is, Celtic FC is not run by snowmen.

Sumdy is getting rich on the back of all this – convenient, management, wastage.

Sumdy who signs the cheques is, troosering Celtic supporters money.

And, they have done this to the extent that, 40,000 fans have left their seats and, another 12,000 have been chased from the Season Book waiting list.

The Kelly’s & White’s got hung from every street lamp on London road for less….imho.

Blackburn want Muldini….get Big Michelle to drive him doon in the morn :)

Guid luck to the Celts today.

If, we lose to Morton…..at least we won’t be mibberied by the hun-animals.

    …You’ll Never Walk Alone….in the Jungle….

    ….bed-time-zzzzzz……

We need a small squad backed by juniors. A small squad of quality who are guaranteed games. Consistency and team spirit will win crucial games and campaigns.

We are pure and utter mince. How did that happen?

  5. weet weet weet(GBWO) on

On this Mothering What is a Father?

A father is a person who is forced to endure childbirth without an anesthetic.

He growls when he feels good and laughs very loud when he is scared half-to-death.

A father never feels entirely worthy of the worship in a child’s eyes.

He is never quite the hero his daughter thinks. Never quite the man his son believes him to be. And this worries him sometimes. (So he works too hard to try to smooth the rough places in the road of those of his own who will follow him.)

A father is a person who goes to war sometimes … and would run the other way except that war is part of an important job in his life (which is making the world better for his child than it has been for him).

Fathers grow older faster than other people, because they, in other wars, have to stand at the train station and wave goodbye to the uniform that climbs on board.

And, while mothers cry where it shows, fathers stand and beam … outside … and die inside.

Fathers are men who give daughters away to other men who aren’t nearly good enough, so that they can have children that are smarter than anybody’s.

Fathers fight dragons almost daily. They hurry away from the breakfast table off to the arena, which is sometimes called an office or a workshop. There they tackle the dragon with three heads: Weariness, Works, and Monotony. And they never quite win the fight, but they never give up.

Knights in shining armor; fathers in shiny trousers. There’s little difference as they march away each workday.

I was particularly interested in DOC`S overview of the roles of different Board members.

Without wishing to paraphrase , it suggests that culpability for the current “state of play ” may not lie exclusively with the convenient scapegoat……. one P.L.

  15. Interesting how the blame is being parcelled up by some.

To the extent that corporate governance books are being dusted of and quoted.

As if the current situation at CP should / could be held up as a paragon of the capitalist system.

The Irish Raj is the only game in town.

He controls the club by way of a significant minority share holding and the diffuse nature of the rest.

He will take money out of the club this year.

The general support will put in 80% of the TO this year and yet we must dance to his tune.

Good work if you can get it — I think he must be taking lessons from Old Monkey Glands.

We shall soon know — if The Irish Raj turns up up with a past it / has been Supermodel on his arm then the answer is yes.

I do wonder if the shenanigans of 2005 have a part to play in this.

The on, off, then on again share sale was not the Irish Raj’s finest hour as the masked slipped for me and I didn’t like what I saw underneath.

I fear he has learned nothing but forgot nothing from that sorry little saga.

And we have been paying the penalty for the past decade and more.

Consequently for me the Irish Raj is the cause.

PL — as a grasping flunky polishing his own ego — is just a symptom run wild.

And RD is just the rabbit in the headlights wondering why a great club like ours can be run with such a naked individual agenda — cash is king / no investment / no growth / milk the “cow” / feed the plebs a few scraps — in plain sight and yet still they clap.

  16. CultsBhoy can not relate to Celtic Board ambitions on or off the park on

I’m heading out to Inverurie to watch my youngest bhoy play at 10:30 then make a quick return to catch some of the game on TV. My boy then has regional development trials at 4 -6pm so I’m neglecting my Mother’s Day duties – but we all went out last night so I should get off with a pardon.

I’m expecting to win and would like to think 3-0 on the cards.

The huns are rising like a Phoenix from the ashes – it’s up to us to burn them off.

It might look like a rebuild for us but I suspect we have a decent core. So it s more of a stripping out of surplus players and 3 key additions along the spine of the team. Obviously under a more competent stronger manager.

The real focus will inevitably fall on Lawwell. If his ego can stand it , Id be happy to see him retained as a CEO but with clear fire wall in place between his duties and the footballing side of things.

    A Strong manager required.

I will have to make do with TV as I prepare the food, Mexican today, but am hopeful rather than confident we will start our recovery today.
