Day of reckoning draws close for Rangers

858

Companies have a statutory duty to produce financial reports in line with commitments made to shareholders.  The failure of Rangers to fulfil those commitments was put down to a lack of clarity over the future outcome of the on-going tribunal with HM Revenue and Customs.  As a consequence of this failure, trading in Rangers shares have been suspended by the Plus Stock Exchange.

The Plus Stock Exchange also told Rangers broadcast partner, STV, they were “currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances under which Craig Whyte’s seven year disqualification from acting as a director in 2000 were not disclosed at the time of his appointment to the board of Rangers FC on May 6, 2011”.

Rangers today suggested there was “little, if any, tangible benefit for the club to be a listed company”.  This may be true but the benefit of a listing is heavily weighted towards shareholders and creditors, who should have received structured financial information in a timely manner.  Shareholders have also been denied the opportunity to attend an Annual General Meeting, which, in line with stock exchange rules, should have been held before 31 December 2011.

Many of you have watched Rangers speculate wildly for over two decades with the feeling that they would crash and burn.  This has been a painful period for those who follow clubs who stick to budget, unprepared to take a seat at the roulette table.  The day of reckoning draws closer.

  1. The reason I was asking about Ibrahim earlier was when watching the YouTube compilation of him he looked more like a playmaker than an out n out striker, good player by the looks of him so again, anybody got the goal stats on him?

    Morning all.

Read the debate re SPL Board vs 90% of the members…

Totally agree that integrity is the issue here.

Any option for a newco other than a start in league 3 and there is not a lot of integrity left in Scottish football.

We, the fans, must build the pressure now; no cheats back in the SPL.

Good Morning from a dark Central Scotland and a happy Birthday to Ryan in Australia!

  7. Had a look at a couple of the back pages before leaving work there just to see what was being said about yesterday’s developments over there. Instead of any news about it whatsoever I was given stories of them spending 2mill on a Spanish striker. 2 mill! at least I’ll go to bed with a smile on my face

  8. Don’t know if reports are true, but seems like we have pulled out of race for Rhodes and baba

And now set our sights on saliha as he is cheaper options

Past history cheaper option has meant

    A. Money down drain

    B. Goal scorer not signed

    D. Not enough goals scored by our strikers

    C. Back to transfer market again

We keep doing the A to D every year:(

We only need 2 goalscorers and one project backup incase of injuries

So hooper stokes ?? Which one the hook to make way for a goalscorer

Me. I would sell hooper in a minute , just think about it

3-4m in and we budget 6m on replacement

We end up with stokes and better finisher upfront

I think we will get the old hooper and cheap option one week

Stokes and hooper next , then stoked cheap option again

Back to A to D above again and costing us more money, but without the results achieved

Sums up our failed transfer policy

    ……………

I have a mate who I used to go to the game with going out there in Feb. Moving out with the family via work, I’d appreciate any info on Celts in Adelaide.

  11. Snake Plissken on

So Rangers have 2M to spend? Where did that come from?

    Did they find the warchest?

    More Traynor nonsense.

Succulent Lamb is back on the menu.

  12. Bangura, Rasmussen and Murphy, three reasons we need to get our choice of new striker correct. Too many mistakes in the recent past. Back the manager and pay the money for his top target, whoever he may be. Up to £5m is affordable, especially if we offload the deadwood and/or sell one of our many midfielders.

  13. So I have learned two things on my travels.

While playing Monopoly on my iPhone I discovered that if you can’t pay your taxes you go bankrupt. MMB beware.

At 1st squatters arms hotel owned by a coatbridge man was the only place to go and know the game would be on, sadly Alec moved on

If I had stayed in Adelaide for more than 2 months I would have ended up in mental asylum

You can drink un every good pub in city in about 20mins then that’s it

    Boring with capital A

Best thing about Adelaide was departure lounge at airport ;))

Sorry to offend Adelaide, but best to tell the truth

  15. Anyone know if I buy a ticket today online for Saturday I will definetely get it on time? Thanks in advance.

  16. Kayal33 and fortune

Add all that up and we could have had one 6m player who done the business

Instead money down the drain chasing cheaper options

Now, I know no guarantee that a 6m striker scores , but less if a risk than 3 or 4 who never did and never will. Add the never dids up and it costs us more money

    True.

The cheap options we’ve signed have all flopped.

Ledley, Stokes, Kayal, Matthews, Izzy, Mulgrew, Commons.

    Get them all tae *censored*

  18. StEPHEN BLACK Are you origanily from Bathgate ,Pumpherston, I See celtic have another mid fielder on trial, you can bet he will never be heard of again, and yes we need another striker but who?

    Kayal33 10 January, 2012 at 08:22:

And if the 5 million striker does a Bangura and gets injured twice?

or are 5 million players immune from injury?

I’m not going to class Bangura as a flop until he gets a run in the team.

  20. Dirtymac

    Goals make prizes

Can’t see any strikers who score 20+ over 3 years in your list

Projects and bargains can be found in defense and midfield

We have done a great job finding these players

But you have to pay top dollar for goal scorers as they are rare

Yes we once had one in a million in Henrik , but not the norm

Our cheap options up front have flopped as these players are cheap for a reason they don’t score

    Now stop wasting money

Either buy a goalscorer by paying the going rate

Or bring through youths, don’t waste money

    BangBang/Rassmussen/Murphy…what a waste in fees +combined salary.

Forget Salihi…turns 28y this week too.

Forget Diawara…cannot be having too many African players. The Africa Cup is a biennial tournament, and with World Cup qualifiers, more time away with international squads.

Now Rhodes…a very good team player who also happens to score a lot of goals.

    Leads the line very well.

He is the missing piece in our jigsaw…he would improve our attack exponentially.

    Our midfield is awesome..

Our central defence ,relieved of pressure, would have the space and time to gel and mature.
