Déjà vu for Celtic

340

It was déjà vu for Celtic as, one week on from the club’s end of season awards, at the PFA Scotland gala, Scott Sinclair won Player of the Year, Kieran Tierney won Young Player of the Year and Moussa Dembele won Goal of the Season, for the remarkable move away to St Johnstone. All three won the same awards at the club event last weekend.

The PFA also named Brendan Rodgers Manager of the Year, to complete a clean sweep for the champions. Sinclair is the 17th Celtic player to win the top award in the last 21 seasons, a Generation’s worth of Domination………

Brendan Rodgers will be delighted to have picked up three points on Saturday, while giving an outing to teenagers Anthony Ralston and Michael Johnston. Captain, Scott Brown, remains rested by SFA instruction ahead of Friday’s game at Pittodrie, which on paper is offers our greatest threat to invincibility.

I took the weekend off normal duties but read over the blog last night.  Many thanks for the kind wishes, they are enormously appreciated.  Feel like I’m among friends.

    Good Morning CQN,

    16 days to go

The weather forecast for Lisbon today is for clear skies early but clouding over later in the day and the probability of rain showers late afternoon into the evening. Temperature is expected to reach 69 degrees today.

  4. MATTS NILLOC 7.19pm…

    Extract from your post…

These days the Archbishop of Glasgow, Philip Tartaglia, a season ticket holder at Celtic Park, is effusive in his praise for the ruling SNP government. Immediately after the referendum he released an embarrassingly toadying statement praising Alex Salmond and then welcomed the new First Minister Nicola Sturgeon with unprecedented over-eagerness. And in the 2014 vote, many of his clergy and church functionaries were publicly involved in supporting the separatist cause. There was little subtlety amongst them as – on social media, from the pulpits, in the classrooms – they linked their ‘social justice war’ tendencies and latent anglophobia with their new heroes in the SNP.

The links between the Scottish Catholic Church and the SNP have been obvious for a while. The Director of the Scottish Catholic Media Office, Peter Kearney was, in a previous job, the SNP’s political education and training officer, a parliamentary candidate and deputy leadership candidate for the party in 2000. His name reportedly appeared during the referendum as a press contact for former SNP leader and extreme leftist Jim Sillars, who was busy threatening Scottish business leaders with ‘a day of reckoning’ if they supported the ‘No’ side.

Now MATTS I’m not very bright, , perhaps you could explain why you wish Celtic fans like myself to accept what a newspaper like The Herald has to say about anything , especially when it comes to celtic fans, The Scottish catholic Church or The SNP ?

you may or not know this but The Herald is the Mother of The Evening Times RAG, yes that same ET that pays good money to FUDS like Derek Johnstone and Chris Jack…(to name but two.) to ” write” absolute bollox anti Celtic pro Hun crap.

My other point is this, especially since the Local Council Elections just least week….some on here, and in other “newspapers” have advised that The SNP supports the Orange mob, so we Celtic fans shouldn’t even think about voting SNP…..However, you have just posted an “article” which clearly outlines the STRONG Catholic support for The SNP, …..I don’t get it, sorry ?

No argument from me mate., but I will vote for whoever i want, and if my vote goes FOR or AGAINST what the Catholic Church is trying to tell me then TOUGH !

My whole life I have NEVER allowed what The Catholic Church says to influence my Political vote and allow me to tell you why, with one quick example of how some members of the Catholic Church conduct themselves, when it comes down to MONEY !

In the 1960’s when I was a young boy, we had a ” ELECTRICITY BLACKOUTS” due to Political unrest between the then Labour Government and energy workers/Miners etc.

In my household, I was the only child, but the vast majority of households had 3/4 or 9 kids, with little or no money to spend.

This was the East End of Glasgow ( Easterhouse), a Labour Stronghold which was apparently supported also by The Catholic Church /

However, during those Electricity Blackouts ( Power Cuts), which occurred 3/4 times a week if I remember correctly, the locals like myself would seek help from our local Parish Chapel by way of being given CANDLES by the Priest ?

Anytime I went there, the main Parish Priest was indeed giving locals Candles…..but at a PRICE !

In other words, “no money son ?……….nae Candles for you then ” !

When the local Prods and their Churches got hold of this news…they had a feckin field day….!

    Big Jimmy,

A poster whose name eludes me at this time stated that you were his favour poster.

I could never say that, as in my opinion ( As stated many times ) all posters are equal. Equally valid and equally welcomed

However I can absolutely see where he is coming from.

    Fratenally yours.

    GREEN PINATA,

Firstly it was WEEBAWBABBITY who posted very kind words about “Favourite” etc.

Then along came MIKE IN TORONTO…trying to muscle in on the act by claiming the same, and also adding that if he posted that “Big Jimmy” is also “Good Looking” he would be glad to do so ?

However, MIKE IN TORONTO was trying to extract FEES from myself for said “Praise”….Typical Lawyer…..” Money is Gold” attitude !

    LOL.

Only Joking Mike mate, your my Favourite lawyer EVER !

Looking for some help, have four friends who will be in Glasgow on Cup Final weekend looking for somewhere to watch it and maybe have some food. Alea Sports bar has been suggested, anyone got any ideas of other venues. Hail Hail Hebcelt

Hope you don’t mind this advice HEBCELT ?

On cup final day the majority of Celtic pubs will be mobbed of course…However if you head down by Glasgow Cross in the Saltmarket, you will find ( on the Right Hand side of The Saltmarket)…a very old pub under the Railway Bridge called ” The Empire Bar” ( I know…the feckin name ?) . it’s NOT the greatest pub maybe BUT……..they have quite a large Lounge at the back of the Pub, with ample seating for friends to sit together, with a couple of large screens to watch The Celts.

it beats being forced to stand all day, getting crushed as in other pubs. The Tolbooth at Glasgow Cross, I also like, but they allow too many folk in, and it’s MURDER POLICEMAN trying to get a Toilet Visit…never mind oot for a smoke !

There is also McConnells bar around from the top of Cambridge Street at the top end of the city centre ?

    hope this helps ?

  19. Celtic closer to Solanke Celtic have received a big boost in their pursuit of Chelsea striker Dominic Solanke after it emerged the 19-year-old has turned down a new contract offer and is set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer. Celtic could snap up the youngster for as little as £400,000, just a fraction of what it would cost an English Premier League side due to cross-border rules regarding out of contract players. Liverpool remain favourites to bring the Englishman to Anfield, though Jurgen Klopp is interested in other targets.
