I know squad numbers are limited but I’m disappointed Eoghan O’Connell has not been retained. In his performances early last season he displayed the attributes of a modern-day footballing central defender. He has a future in the game and will do well wherever he goes next.
The perennial dilemma of youth development is that while teams want to improve performances NOW, they also need to leave space for worthy development squad candidates to grow into. Kieran Tierney got there, but the truth is, Celtic had been trying to sign a left back for year but were unable find anyone of the necessary standard. If we did, Kieran, Eoghan, would never have had the chance.

14th july.hotel POLENTIA.2 weeks.
Jobo … at family gatherings, my party piece was The Pussycat Dolls’ ‘dont you wish your girlfriend was hot like me?’ … with all of the dance steps! The kids think it is hilarious… the rest of my family … not so much!
Elvis C… one of the great artists of that generation…. another classic that seems fitting for today… Tramp the Dirt Down
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9t4-zDem1Sk
Barney … i figure if you liked Stand Down, you might like this one as well.
MiT.
Top tune.

If the narrative part way down The ETIMS Diary yesterday is accurate, then how can the SFA not comment on TRFC bringing back on Board an individual who in pursuit of his broken business model, was prepared to mislead the SFA Licensing Committee into granting access to the CL money we now know was essential to Rangers survival?

Celtic’s position may be that repeating the same behaviour that killed you will produce the same result, but in Scotland where financial fair play is a concept beyond the Alistair Johnson mindset how long will it take before there is a repeat and don’t Celtic owe it to themselves not to end up being criticised for the wrong doing of another club?
I’ve managed to secure two ST for the new season. I paid 2x £10 to join the waiting list but this wasn’t deducted when I purchased the tickets. Also, there was no option to join the Home Cup Ticket Scheme.
Did anybody else experience this?
Auldhid …. didn’t Celtic just announce 50,000 season tickets sold this week …. I think Celtic’s attitude will be – as long as fans are prepared to keep paying, they wont rock the boat.
MiT no doubt Elvis C had a wonderful voice. I also liked the Morrissey one, listening to it now actually.
I liked the Beat and all the other Ska bands of that era, Ive still got quite a few 45s from then.
Jobo
Boooooo!!!!

The first time I really took note of Eoghan O’Connell was at Dens Park (I’m not sure if it was his debut).
I was impressed with his tackling which was strong and precise. I thought he brought the ball out of defence with confidence and a bit of a swagger. He did however lose the ball a couple of times with poor passes much to the angst of many in the away support.
Despite this the thing I noticed most was his lack of pace Paul. Yes, I think with good coaching he could become a central defender who looks great on the ball but I don’t think he could ever become a top class player because of his inability to cover ground quickly. It’s essential in the modern game.
Barney … saw Elvis not that long ago … he still does a great show! and the specials were in town this week … a few pals went, but I’ve got a few shows next week (including Gregory Porter and Mavis Staples …) so, gave that one a miss.
As for Mo, I was a big Smith’s fan …when I was 17, in 1982, you could pretty much guarantee that one of the 3 albums was playing … the Smiths, Rattlesnakes by Lloyd Cole and Sade’s Diamond Life (and some Nat King Cole… the coolest cat ever!) … but some of Mo’s utterings on immigration, etc hhmmm…I still think Johnny Marr was the best guitarist of our generation … but old Moz is dropping WAY down in my estimation.
I see Partick Kluivert has left PSG … could he be the DoF that Sevco have been promising? Ha ha…
still not sure how they have been able to afford any new players this off season.
MiT
Hola Mike I hope you’re well sir. I would never criticise the Resolution 12 guys on a public forum and in private I would only point out what I’ll say now to you.
Celtic never had and never will have any intention of tapping in the sitter provided by the Fab 4.
This season has been one of my most entertaining and enjoyable ever as a Tim. I’ve absolutely loved following our team this year.
It is however tinged with sadness. A Hun team played again in the top league and those in charge at Celtic have helped facilitate this.
Jobo, your weather reports mean if my wife asks me in the morning what’s the weather like, I read your report to her . I’msuch a romantic.
You don’t do forecasts as some have posted , just a report on how the weather is in East Kilbride.
Enjoy your son’s stag do down the road then your ten days away in the sun.
MiT i read Morrissey’s autobiography a while back, put me off him a bit too. Still like his music though.

They can’t afford new players. But when has that ever been a problem.
O’Connell will float around that level from now on
Mike in Toronto, thank you for the link to Stand Down Margaret , one of my favourite songs by the Beat and the first anti Thatcher song I can remember.
It was a double A side with Best Friend which was a cracking song . Unfortunately it never received a lot air play particularly on Radio 1 due to Stand Down Margaret.
If the Selecter and Ranking Roger’s Beat play Toronto, go and see them . They put on a really good show particularly the Selecter .
Has anyone a kink to photo doing the rounds that suggest DUP’s first demand is that Mrs May actively participates in this year’s festivities.
Absolutely bewildered at May’s incredible stupidity in calling another election when she had a clear majority.
Absolutely delighted for Corbyn, a decent and honest man who has been undermined by those within and savagely attacked by a hostile right wing media.
Disgusted to see the smugness of that evil Tory Davidson.
Delighted to see the hurt on the face of Sturgeon and Salmond especially after the OBaF Act.
But mostly I’m in euphoria over the Celtic!!!
Starry,
I hope you and SFTB meet up in Basel.
You will get on like a burning building.
Lovely photos.
Jobo happy birthday and enjoy ur two weeks, are you doing a run before you go ???

Absolutely bewildered at May’s incredible stupidity in calling another election when she had a clear majority.
A couple of hours ago, it was being suggested that she had acted on the advice of others. Good Ols Others.
Who have they got to replace her that will not come over as a nasty? Bit like looking for a handsome Hun.
Starry,
Subject to my last post to you, having read SFTB’s tribute to M. Buble, I can assure you, he’s no’ like that!

Just back in after a 7 1/2 hour drive from Tetbury in the Cotswolds, a town so pretty yet full of dim witted people who are fully up their own arse. The town is lovely and reeks of wealth and inherited entitlement. Okay, it’s a fleeting visit and maybe I am a bit frazzled after the drive. It just is a different world from darkest Lanarkshire it is no wonder the electorate have different priorities to the likes of me.
Time for a cold beer and to unwind, has Mr Burns resigned from her PM job yet?
JOBO, enjoy your break, I too will be off site for a while. It’s just getting a bit boring with no football and I find that my work just now is taking up too much time.
I was so bored I started posting, badly, about politics. It was then that I knew my time was up.
THOMTHETHIM FOR OSCAR OK
Thanks Thom, aye I hope we get a wee half hour for a gab with SFTB, the Con Bhoys I have met so far are definitely not men you meet everyday!

No idea, they’ve all run away at the first sight of trouble!
Don’t know if it’s day or night now… ;-)

You could be right mate. I do think that if she’s that desperate she’ll walk away within the next 10 days.
Surely her position is untenable ( Teresa May)
Just a matter of when she is pushed
WHAT IS THE STARS
She must know she can’t enter into a coalition with the DUP??
I might be being too generous to Mark Daly here but I think there is a pretty forensic exposition of what was revealed in the Whyte trial. Given that the BBC have ben sued already by Duff and Phelps, he has been braver than most other commentators
BBC summary of Whyte after the trial
What do others think?
interesting interview with theresa may tonight saying she thinks the rangers back four next year will be very strong and stable
sftb – dreadful language – ‘murder’ , murray’s ‘financial troubles ‘
String and Staple -surely ?
