Effective players

366

We had a family conversation this will about the most effective Celtic players we have seen for each position, not necessarily the best there.

I went straight to Alan Thompson. Alan was a hard left-mid when he arrived from Aston Villa in 2000, who became a wing-back under Martin O’Neill. His contribution to that successful Celtic team is incredible. The winner against Barcelona, Champions League goals and so many against Rangers, tell a story, as do his assists.

He was loved by his manager and capped by England while at Celtic. Still, he had limits. He was slow to recover fitness after injury and did not have the finess of a McStay or Collins, not everyone “got it”.

David Turnbull is a different type of player but I see parallels. He is also a player managers rate. Lots more to come from David.

So…if all this water is uncarbonated….it means our world is flat 😂

A Union that foists Boris, who makes Erdogan look saintly,on a country that has not voted for him,and now will be getting Trussed up.Yes,I can see democracy there.

I think you might have a modicum of intelligence, you should display it more.

You like to revert to the “living in Turkey”tired old routine. What that has to do with me having an opinion on Politics in my country,Scotland,is just another nonsense from you.I have a house and a vote in Scotland. You know, the place you live in with the shit weather and expensive drink.Personally,I have a feeling jealousy has got the better of you.

You are an insignificance to me,just a Unionist lickspittle, but I love it when I wind you up.

Good kid. Hope he stays. Hope he develops. Hope he in turn gets a move if he wants it. Seems to be happy.

  6. Interesting reading posters comments on the Sun newspaper.

Do we conveniently forget that in the 2015 GE the Scorrish Sun totally endorsed the SNP. Plastered all over the front page was homage to Nicola Sturgeon depicting her as Princess Leia.

How many cosy meetings and palms crossed occurred for that ???????

Your hatred for SNP and their politicians is exactly replicated in my workplace in Larkhall by the staunch loyalist community, you might want to reflect on that

  8. I see my post at 5.29 is awaiting moderation…………it seems democracy and free speech is only for some on CQN

  9. Lionroars 67,

What I do hate is hypocrisy . I criticise all politicians and all political parties without fear or favour. None of them are without failings and scandal.

CQN has been discussing thr Sun newspaper.

When I point out the fact that the Sun in Scotland endorsed the SNP, it equates to hating them.

The debate centered around a lifelong Labour activist from Liverpool audrey White@RedRosa91940184

click on audreys profile in twitter and educate yourself

The leader of the Labour party is in Liverpool, he writes in the Sun newspaper, a very sensitive subject in Liverpool, Audrey wanted to tell Starmer her objections to him writing in the Sun, and his change of political priorities not to mention Jeremy Corbyn continued ostracisation from Labour

This was a story about the Labour party, Starmer, Liverpool, all in England

Nothing to do with SNP or Scotland

When a newspaper chooses to support a particular party in an election, or supports one side in a referendum, it does so to sell copy, not because it gets money from that party.

Also, if you think yesterday’s discussion was about the Sun newspaper, you need to go shopping today and buy a sense of perspective.

  14. Tom McLaughlin on

I watched England v Sweden last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Sweden should have grabbed an early lead but for poor finishing on two occasions. It was fairly even until England scored and the Swedes seemed to give up the ghost. Some good football on show.

I can’t understand why some posters are complaining about “biased” commentators. They are English, commentating on an England football match to an English audience. Of course they’re biased. Why wouldn’t they be? Were Scottish commentators not biased in Serbia not so long ago during a Euro 2020 play-off? Of course they were and why not?

  15. Tom McLaughlin,

Who mentioned money. I certainly didn’t..

There are numerous ways to curry favour, but you already know that.

Must shoot, need to see if the bond sells a ” sense of perspective “

  16. Good morning from a sunny North Staffs –

Tom – it’s ok for Kris Boyd and company to favour the Huns because they are one.

Commentators are there to describe the action of both sides not to slant it totally one way. My main issue is with the language they use to describe passages of play etc using superlatives where none exist.

Turkey is a totalitarian, repressive regime with an appalling contemporary and historic record of human rights abuses.

You’ve chosen to live there because it suits your lifestyle ,cheap drink seems to figure large in your thinking, maybe you’re skint or are addicted or dependant on alcohol, in which case you’d probably find it a struggle to live in Scotland what with the minimum pricing introduced by your SNP, so I suppose sympathy rather than scorn is the order of the day, but it does make your criticisms of the political scene here in the UK sound ridiculous. There again I doubt you you are even aware of your hypocrisy never mind bothered about it.

And I don’t suppose that it’s occurred to you that someone like you, given the life choices you’ve made, is a particularly effective cheerleader for the cause of Scottish independence.
