Energising offensively

1455

I’ve spoken to many Celtic fans over the last couple of days but I’ve not met one who would have preferred Roy Keane to be our manager instead of Ronny Deila.  Despite some impeccable references, Ronny is a largely unknown character, but there is an appreciation among the support that we need to come up with a plan to enable the club to over-achieve in Europe.

The man’s performance at the media conference was faultless.  It’s not important to quick-witted but his use of words like “energise” and “offensive” is promising.  Football is in the entertainment business and Ronny appears to appreciate the link between the way his team perform, not just their results, and the ultimate satisfaction supporters’ leave the ground with.

Our thanks to the Greenock Celtic Supporters Club for hosting last night’s CQN Lions fundraiser for the Celtic FC Foundation.  We were fortunate to be entertained by Willie Wallace, John Hughes and Bertie Auld, it was a fantastic night, full of laughs.

Special thanks to those who attended and helped raise over £2000 for the Foundation, and to those who promised to get involved with the Foundation.  The club is in good hands with supporters like those in Greenock last night.  Big shout to Joe and Mick for bringing a familiar old friend along.

    Not much, mate.

    And neither of us even mentioned skelping EPL teams on their own patch on the way to Seville.

  4. I think paul67 and Peter lawell quake in their boots when they think of Mon

    All that money spent on the team

    The glory the joy , the no mention of balance sheets and most important the no money going into PL personal bank account on account of downsizing

    Peter lawell and his spin via Paul, like to put fans off spending money on the team as it stops his cash cow

    been watching the Hoops since mid 70s and our Treble winning year under MON wins it for me every time. I didnt miss a game on our way to Seville, I still cant watch it, but Ewood and Anfield were different class, we were different class back then. Tynecastle at New Year with Henkes hat-trick, Henkes 50th of season at ibrox, Juventus 4-3, could go on all night. Won’t.

    God Bless MON

    I sometimes wonder what my life would had been if I had made different decisions at certain points in my life. I remember one occasion in the Gorbals in 1978 when a good friend thought it was a good idea to chase the dragon, he died less than 2 years later with a needle in his arm.

    I was roundly mocked as a shiter but something inside me said this wasn’t a good idea so I took the abuse and sat at the side of the room as everyone else got out their faces.

    That voice spoke to me at various times in my life, some times I listened but to my shame sometimes I ignored it. Fortunately ,for me, the results of ignoring this voice hasn’t been disastrous for me or my family.

    A young guy I work with has ignored this voice in the past and as a result he has suffered by being put in prison for various offences, usually Police assault or resisting arrest.

    I met him about 9 months ago in the pub, he asked if I could get him a job. I explained that at that time I was also looking for a job but if I got one I would put in a good word for him. He had to do one thing though, give up the drink. That was the deal if I was to get him a job.

    Anyway I managed to get a job and the firm was looking for another worker so I put in a word and they took him on. As the days past he shared his story with me, his upbringing was not one of love and encouragement. I wont go into detail but this young man has inspired me with his desire to move on and make a better life for himself.

    We have helped him out getting a flat in Glasgow away from here, where everyone judges him for his past deeds. A mate has even given him the offer of an apprenticeship as a heating engineer, he starts with him in the morning. I know he’ll do well as he’s a great young guy that just needed a chance in life.

    There are times when we can effect positive change in life, we just need to have the guts to listen to that voice in our head that says yes. (not that I want to get involved in the Indy debate)

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    The voice in the head, it is Real.
    All I can do is give my own Life experience advice.
    Drugs are changing human beings, into different people.
    CelticFirst has never experienced what I have, Thankfully, Well, I sincerely hope not.
    I was very fortunate in knowing how to defeat the Dark SCUM that attacked me, when I was sleeping as well.
    After a long drinking session as well, well days later if the Truth be told.
    I have opened my Mind up so widely for so many Spirits to enter into it, without knowing, that the only One that can protect, is Yeshua/Jesus….. and believing he died and was resurrected….. This totally neuters ALL the New Agers nonsense.
  20. Good Morning to all. +33C here today. Vmhan, you are not six o’clockish anymore?
  21. I love that tweet from Iain Boyle (on Phil Mac’s site) where he is clearly outraged at behaviour unbecoming of a ‘Bear’ during their little pow-wow.
    I wonder, did this same up-standing citizen make an official protest about the behaviour of these same ‘Bears’ after Barcelona, Manchester and just about every Scottish town on the Tartan Tour
    When the typical behaviour of a ‘Bear’ is to treat every place they visit like a viking pillage, destroying everything in sight, urinating everywhere and abusing everyone they come across, I think the behaviour at this meeting was indeed, unbecoming of a ‘Bear’.
    I expected far, far worse.
  22. Perfection, I don’t know why that word is in the dictionary.
    This place is populated by good men and women. It’s not just populated… it’s infected with compassionates. People who don’t just bleat about compassion, people who don’t just boast about compassion, but by people who have a passion for compassion; for helping that drunk in the street whose life has just been washed down the lavvy, for helping wee black kids in Africa, who’ll they’ll never in three life times meet.
    Mary’s Meals, that is what Scotland means to me.
    I dreamt last night of Noel, NeilR, loaves and fishes, magraininspain, Aldo, hoolahoops, Ramie, Summa, NAFCSC, the Lurgan bhoys, Willie Fernie and Sean Fallon too, with hundreds upon hundreds,upon hundreds, supporting fuzzy in the wings. It was a good dream but I’m not too sure why I was allowed to dream it. Not too sure why I’m allowed to dream at all.
    But when I woke up, and I did fight to stay asleep, now I’ve a better idea why Perfection gets a shout in the dictionary.
    And then I put my favourite boots on and went to the beach, looked a bit out of the ordinary standing on a Queensland beach in steel toe capped boots, but then you never know what day your lottery numbers are going to come up so I just like to be prepared .
  23. On my way home I stopped off to get some pizza sauce and next thing I know there is a bottle of gin and a couple of bottles of tonic sitting in the car seat next to me, own up, who’s responsible for that ol’ Fife bhoy.
