I’ve spoken to many Celtic fans over the last couple of days but I’ve not met one who would have preferred Roy Keane to be our manager instead of Ronny Deila. Despite some impeccable references, Ronny is a largely unknown character, but there is an appreciation among the support that we need to come up with a plan to enable the club to over-achieve in Europe.
The man’s performance at the media conference was faultless. It’s not important to quick-witted but his use of words like “energise” and “offensive” is promising. Football is in the entertainment business and Ronny appears to appreciate the link between the way his team perform, not just their results, and the ultimate satisfaction supporters’ leave the ground with.
Our thanks to the Greenock Celtic Supporters Club for hosting last night’s CQN Lions fundraiser for the Celtic FC Foundation. We were fortunate to be entertained by Willie Wallace, John Hughes and Bertie Auld, it was a fantastic night, full of laughs.
Special thanks to those who attended and helped raise over £2000 for the Foundation, and to those who promised to get involved with the Foundation. The club is in good hands with supporters like those in Greenock last night. Big shout to Joe and Mick for bringing a familiar old friend along.

If I were he, I would have kept shtum.
Better Together of course seizing the oportunity to bandwagon.

How right you are. They’ve been taking their stench all over the world for decades (or longer)
Everywhere they go it inevitably turns into a barney, fueled by hatred and outright bigotry,
and off course cheap bevvy. The media in this country is unbelievable, could you imagine the same press coverage if we’d have done anything like that in Manchester ? Not that we ever would.
I sincerely put it down to a cultural difference

What a contrast to Christine Lagarde the chic, elegant, stylish and quite brilliant French woman leader the IMF.

You echo many a thought going thru peoples minds at present
as regards assurances of stability, and continuity of pensions.
As with your previous post regarding the uncertainty of it all,
it seems rather hit and miss.I like you, am concerned only for the welfare
of the family, as many generations before us have been. With 5 grand kids
(2 due in august) my only concern is for them it seems each generation has a big
decision on their plate. H.H.
………………………………………………..
Agree with you totally. It is a very big decision and not nearly as simple and clear cut as many on here would have us believe. What to do in the best interests of family. Decisions.
As a boy from Glasgow
Who lives in England
Would love to be at home to vote
I’m not a patriotic person
But believe Scotland should and could
Look after itself and prosper
The pro union campaign is negative
And patronising
I think it would also be good for England

Salmond’s behaviour was crass and vulgar.
I can well understand why Murray wasn’t pleased. And I don’t see why he shouldn’t make his feelings known. There’s something a bit hunnish about intimidating people into silence, don’t you think?

I don’t have a vote either,mate. We’ll balance each other out!
You reckon the No campaign-which I think has been shambolic-is negative, but what about the statements from the Yes campaign warning us about what the Tories will do to Scotland?

desertbhoy, that’s another advantage of living in and around this area is the number of places you can travel to by car, as well as train. I have driven to all the Benelux countries, France, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, Italy, Denmark and Austria and travelled to some of them by train. Something I would not have done when I still lived in Scotland/England.
……………………………………………………………………….
Yes… have done the same.. lived/worked in Hungary circa 8 years… frequent visitor to Vienna as it was only couple of hours drive. Also throw in Venice/Italy and Serbia.
Fuel at that time was cheaper in Europe also.
EKBhoy – and I’ll thank you for scrolling on by any time you see me posting on here.

Morning all, wondering if any of yous fine chaps could point me in the direction of a decent World Cup predictor for the work.
Mrs SS brought one home, but as it was run by teachers, stops after the first two games. Selfish lot!

I have turned off from the Independence debate. Politicians from both camps are untrustworthy. I will vote with my heart, head and conscience. Yes for self determination.
I see the President of Sevconia, Graham Wallace, has revealed that his club is “in a good place”.
I concur. Maybe think about staying there a while Graham.

Everyone should vote for the correct reasons,be they personal, financial, whatever.
I have no intention of trying to dissuade anyone from voting Yes as to do so would be to inflict my own reasons on them.
(I reserve the right to correct myths and untruths)
THE BATTERED BUNNET.
Wallace is correct, but only inasmuch as he made that statement in the USA.
Which is a much better place than Govan.

Only my opinion, but I believe that public figures in sport entertainment are probably best keeping their views on the debate to themselves, lest the be accused of trying to unduly influence people. There are countless examples of (largely naw supporting) celebs who have been subjected to online abuseafter expressing an opinion. Obviously that is unacceptable.
Murray has markedly stayed out of the debate thus far and continues to do so. In mentioning his displeasure at Ecks flag support though, he has sort of dipped a toe in the water and may come to regret it.
BTW
Salmond is a clown who cant help himself. Suspect he is a liability to the YES campaign overall.

Can somebody remind me what date and place is the meet up in Wimbledon?
Spent a week in cologne during euro 88 ,to say the locals were happy when Ray put the ball in the England net would be a slight understatement

Not necessarily. Every time a politician opens his or her mouth, the betting is on a lie or a twisted version of the truth,so I reckon I’m on good ground here.
