Europe a sideshow to league duty at Fir Park

1000

A Europa League tie against Rennes on Thursday would normally set midweek pulses racing but when Celtic have such a crucial game ahead in the fight for second place Neil Lennon has a major decision to make, does he rest players for the Motherwell game?

Sunday’s game at Fir Park is set to become one of the most important games of the season for Celtic and I’m sure Neil would prefer a clear midweek to prepare for it, but resting players, with the inherent increased chance of defeat, could further damage fragile morale.

Celtic need a confidence boosting win but they need heads focussed on beating Motherwell even more. The consequences of defeat on Thursday are unpleasant, but the consequences of defeat on Sunday are incalculable.

If you swap the goalie and bin Kayal then we have the same team.

BTW had to print Mrs Prestonpans ticket next door because I don’t have a printer. They are Hertz and Rangers fans and they told me that their printer was running out of colour. Just imagine their joy when our crest, which is on left hand side of the ticket sub, turned out not green but light blue………………………………

  4. You Know The old saying ,theres no smoke without a fire. and there will be changes at celtic next week, some one from the youths coaching side will take over as manager of celtic football club.

  5. Although we have only 2 months left in 2011 we have 7 great home games to look forward to –

    November

    Thursday 3rd – Rennes

    Wednesday 23 – Dunfermline

    Saturday 26 – St Mirren

    Wednesday 30 – Athletico Madrid

    December

    Saturday 10th – Hearts

    Saturday 24th – Kilmarnock

    Wednesday 28th – Rangers

In the same period Rangers only benefit from 4 home gates, 2 in November (Dundee Utd and St Johnstone) and 2 in December (Dunfermline and Inverness). If they’re around that long.

Do you hope this happens or would you be disappointed?

  7. Been having a sabbatical since Saturday – think any posts by me might have had a touch of groundhog-day about them.

Plenty of the bloggers have covered all the salient points and the usual to obtuse rants – no point in me clogging up blog space. Thursday will see me back in positive mood at 8:04pm.

Must admit (posted previously) that the minis position concerns me – I worry that one more miscreant might choose to join them and their cousins in an administration fiesta – thereby forcing their joint reinstatement and reconstruction of the SPL to all their advantages.

Who else is in trouble and would be prepared to take a hit?

  10. My last thought for tonight

If wee Hun players are released from their contracts

Would the guardians of CQN approve if we went after Celtic supporter

    David Cooper Templeton

In an interview with The Scotsman, Templeton said of his childhood, “My dad left and I went to my mum’s side who were all Celtic fans so I ended up following them. I grew up as a Celtic fan but I loved watching Brian Laudrup because of the way he played.”[10]
