Feels like time for an inquest

626

It’s been so long since we lost a goal it feels like there should be an inquest today.  A couple of mistakes in a wide position, followed by two deflections, which confused Craig Gordon, and that’s all it took.  I’m OK with this.  We’ll make mistakes and lose goals, this is one of the better ways of doing so.

Of slightly more concern was how St Johnstone match us for possession and chances created or long period during the game, belying their bottom half of the table position, some 7 points shy of Hamilton.  Ronny will be keen to turnaround this specific ill for next week’s game against Accies, but the plan for Thursday will be altogether different.

Had a great time on Friday at the Irvine CSC, a very impressive club in the Ayrshire town.  Get along and support it if you are in the area, they are doing a lot of good work.  There’s no better way to prepare for a game against Inter Milan than to listen to Stevie Chalmers and Bobby Lennox telling you how it’s done, as they did at Irvine.

Thanks in particular to the man who put a bunch of tenners in my hand for Mary’s Meals.  What a club!

Big week ahead……

Next time the play in the Petrofac cup or whatever. Give their opponents the keys to Lennoxtown.

do the have another cup competition?

Thanks for that about Brian. I remember he went over to Ireland during the season Sean Fallon was in charge in the hope that he could recover away from the public gaze.

He was, like King Kenny, very gently broken into the tean and in that brief spell at the start of 73/4 when he started every game Jock often substituted him to prevent the kind of burn out that affected Kenny in his breakout season of 71/2. All ruined by thuggery.

I hope he was a good bloke. I find it impossible not to feel sad when I think about him

Saltires, pass on my best wishes to marcus og. Glasgow isn’t as good a place without him. My mum and dad honeymooned in bray. I visited it the last time i was over. Its a lovely town.

  7. As for Inter training at Auchenhowie or whatever it’s called, Sevconians not too happy “that’s all we need more tims/Catholics training there”

    Long may their torture continue

Ronny if you can get us a score involving Inter 0 on Thursday that will do for me….

Good night, take care & God Bless

An tearmann, that vicious git, wullie mcvie had a lot to answer for for what he did to brian.

My dad took me to the game. In celebration of our eigth title the previous season our players all wore the number eight on their shorts.

  9. Dallas, Dallas,

40 years – I hadnt actually thought of it that way , but it’s been a good journey .

  10. Some of my thoughts on fans ‘proud traditions’…

I wonder how many of the Sevconian ‘faithful’ actually attend the Kirk?

I suspect, they are protestant in name only and only attend the Kirk for christenings, weddings and funerals.

But, whilst I believe the number of active Catholics who follow Celtic is far, far greater, there too, I believe, a significant number are Catholic in name only (and of course, many aren’t Catholic at all).

If my own extended family is a gauge, relatively few actually attend Mass regularly. Taking that a step further, how many even think about their faith (beyond the football rivalry context) on a day to day basis?

The traditions are there on both sides but in truth, how many actively follow their chosen faith?

Clashcitybhoy, we have suffered a lot of highs and lows following and supporting our team in forty years.

Good night all and sleep well especially those who were out and about in belfast last night.

  14. Silver City 1888 on

Should have been 6:0 for Aberdeen. No goal a foot over the line, no penalty and “offside” If Celtic win on goal difference, the officials will have handed Celtic the title.

Or maybe Collum really is just rubbish.

  15. frannyb67,

I was thinking more of a helping hand to the huns.

Then again, maybe just my bad mind.

Lot of blokes in the work won’t sleep too well tonight, they have a final interview to see if their job is safe.

To be honest, it’s quite sad to see the tricks some are pulling to safeguard themselves at others expense. I’ve sat back and witness hun against hun as there’s not many tims in there.

It’s not nice to see blokes worry about their jobs….here’s hoping the management drown the rats.

  16. Good night all

Really enjoyed the blog this weekend.

I have been a bit down in the dumps of late and coming on here during my breaks at work to read the apparently unending bickering did not help my mood. I have had a couple of says on this point over the last few days and won;t do so again. From now on the scroll button will be used more than in the past.

Loved chatting about the greats of the past, glad that Celtic won yesterday, glad that after many years I have got tickets to see The Saints playing in Glasgow ( the Brisbane band not St Mirren), am sad that I will be seeing a lot less of one of my very favourite people from now on and am hopefully going to get good news about a job I’ve applied for. And I cannot wait for Thursday.

Life goes on- my problems are microscopic compared to many here and around the world.

Yes. Of course. I have only missed 1 leg of our post Xmas European campaigns since 1974.

The away game at Milan. Really looking forward to this one for sure.

I really think a win will see us grow from bhoys to men at this level and anything will be possible.

    Huge challenge though.

  21. The save from Gordon another reminder of how vital he has been this season.

He is the reason we are playing Inter on Thursday.
