Feels like time for an inquest

626

It’s been so long since we lost a goal it feels like there should be an inquest today.  A couple of mistakes in a wide position, followed by two deflections, which confused Craig Gordon, and that’s all it took.  I’m OK with this.  We’ll make mistakes and lose goals, this is one of the better ways of doing so.

Of slightly more concern was how St Johnstone match us for possession and chances created or long period during the game, belying their bottom half of the table position, some 7 points shy of Hamilton.  Ronny will be keen to turnaround this specific ill for next week’s game against Accies, but the plan for Thursday will be altogether different.

Had a great time on Friday at the Irvine CSC, a very impressive club in the Ayrshire town.  Get along and support it if you are in the area, they are doing a lot of good work.  There’s no better way to prepare for a game against Inter Milan than to listen to Stevie Chalmers and Bobby Lennox telling you how it’s done, as they did at Irvine.

Thanks in particular to the man who put a bunch of tenners in my hand for Mary’s Meals.  What a club!

Big week ahead……

Roy croppie, i stood near the wummin with the teddy in the celtic end at a game at celtic park. Her husband was very quiet while she shouted non stop during the game.

Big shuggie still played with us and she kept on calling him ya big icelander and gave some fans around her a row for swearing, if my memory serves me well.

Does anyone remember the guy who took his spit the dog puppet to games? He called it tim the dug , had a wee knitted hoops top and its own passport for our games abroad.

I looked on his Twitter feed that you posted.

I don’t think he liked your tenacity. Although I’m sure he is more than enable to explain himself, if he so chooses.

I enjoy his posts too. I don’t understand why he swore because you didn’t agree with him.

I do think it’s funny he’s blocked you though. There’s a few on the blog trying to work out how to do it to. Lol

    Leftclicktic, thanks for that link.

My dad has problems with his cateracts and is unable to read. I would have loved to have got him the book, he would have loved it.

From my early days going to games in the late sixties, I would be going mad about how great players Jimmy, both Bobby’s and Wullie Wallace were but even though my dad held all of the Lions in high esteem, he always said, Malky MacDonald was still the best with Wullie Fernie just behind him.

    —–/——/—–

Dallas hope your dad is well- my dad tells me it’s just the hearing he has trouble with..

LikewIse Tommy watched the Lions grow and develop, but always claimed that Charlie Tully was the best he ever saw in the hoops.

When we look at the wins record for these guys in that period there was not much to shout about! I still feel the Celtic support post war and pre-lions were the most faithful of all.

Our dad’s generation had to cling to their memories in a way our generation never had to. Lisbon was their ultimate reward.

I wonder if favourite players thang is established during crucial formative years and we stick with that. I saw King Kenny in formative years and he remains my all time favourite. Despite having been a big fan of The Buzz bomb and Jinky as a wee boy. I grew up and into a fan in my own terms with Kenny and Danny who wee aims my close second favourite.

I recognise The Maestro and Henrik as outstanding players of course, and Lubo was just not long enough in Hoops or he would take it from King Kenny.

Tell your dad I’m asking for him.

I couldn’t tell you mate I’ve never read anything he’s put on Twitter but if he does then I think you’re absolutely correct.

  7. Only saw Brian McLaughlin a couple of times. By all accounts he could have been a great. George Connelly was a great but couldn’t cope with the pressure.

Imo, the greatest Celtic player I have seen just has to be Bobby Murdoch. As Mr Stein sai, when Murdoch plays, Celtic play. No 2 doubts about it. Bobby had everything.

Saltires, thank you for your kind thoughts.

My dad has been in erskine forabout ten months now and even at 88, he’s flourishing there. For someone who refused point blank he would ever go into care, he is enjoying his stay there. My mum is in the dementia unit at erskine now . The home she was in couldn’t give her the care she required unfortunately.

My dad’s only complaint about erskine is that its full of bluenoses and hasn’t really got anyone to talk about celtic with.

Is your dad still in the gorbals? One of the last times i spoke to you , you were trying to get him into better accomodation.

I hope your new business venture is doing well.

Saltires,i meant to add danny is my favourite . Kenny and danny were brilliant for us in kenny’s last season and that was my first season of getting to more home and away games courtesy of my parish priest, the late father michael o’connell.

He would take myself and two other parishioners to games.

Tommy was starting to break through as well that season and enjoyed watching the majestic pat stanton in his only playing season with us.

Well done on your point about OBAct.it is a failed piece of legislation as seen by the continious rejection at the courts.it should be repealed as its bad law.
