Feels like time for an inquest

626

It’s been so long since we lost a goal it feels like there should be an inquest today.  A couple of mistakes in a wide position, followed by two deflections, which confused Craig Gordon, and that’s all it took.  I’m OK with this.  We’ll make mistakes and lose goals, this is one of the better ways of doing so.

Of slightly more concern was how St Johnstone match us for possession and chances created or long period during the game, belying their bottom half of the table position, some 7 points shy of Hamilton.  Ronny will be keen to turnaround this specific ill for next week’s game against Accies, but the plan for Thursday will be altogether different.

Had a great time on Friday at the Irvine CSC, a very impressive club in the Ayrshire town.  Get along and support it if you are in the area, they are doing a lot of good work.  There’s no better way to prepare for a game against Inter Milan than to listen to Stevie Chalmers and Bobby Lennox telling you how it’s done, as they did at Irvine.

Thanks in particular to the man who put a bunch of tenners in my hand for Mary’s Meals.  What a club!

Big week ahead……

As We read of Current Inter Milan and Ex Manchester United Players Warning of how hard a Tie it will be at Celtic Park and Endorsing the Celtic Supports Passion and Support in Big Euro Ties..

In a Paralleled Universe..Accross the City The Rangers Support are Terrified of The Might Raith and The Might have a Problem in Houston’s Falkirk..(Watch them)..

    When will Rangers win again?

With recent Rangers results being frankly disastrous, it does not get any easier before next month’s EGM. While Raith Rovers and Falkirk appear ‘easy’ opponents on paper, the defeat by Stark Park’s finest in the Scottish Cup last week reveals they are anything but walkovers, and this time it is on their patch.

Meanwhile, with Falkirk awaiting after that, it only gets tougher. The Bairns might be midtable but they have not lost since December 27th. Indeed, since their 15th November loss to Hearts, their record reads, of 13 matches, 9 wins, three draws, one loss.

They have also beaten both Hearts and Hibs in that time, so, given Rangers’ painful current form, the Ibrox side could not be in a worse rut right now if it tried.

Falkirk’s Sibbald hitting the winner v Hearts

Indeed, with fans eagerly awaiting the EGM on the fourth, and praying for a new regime as a result of it, it is safe to say Rangers are stuck completely in a limbo for the time being.

The next two matches already look to be write-offs, with a team apparently disinterested (Hibs’ improvement notwithstanding) in affairs, management that does not want to be there, and a board loathed and despised for as much ineptitude as anything else. Everyone of an Ibrox persuasion is caught between a rock and a hard place.

A question I find myself being asked a lot is ‘where do we go from here?’

On the pitch the side bumbles from one bad result to another, with the last victory being over a month ago against bottom-feeders Alloa, but many fans cannot see an end to the hapless McDowall regime.

There is the hope among some that should King et al win the EGM, the first thing they will do is fire McDowall and give him his severance, to usher in a new era at the Club. My fear there is unless they are dipping into their own pockets to do that, to fund the payoff, I cannot see them firing him any more than the current board.

Admittedly, the Three Bears (well, the new Three Bears as opposed to the first Three Bears) is the most important victory in the eyes of many supporters, and if that does take place and the three of them do bring in a good new prosperous era for Rangers, then I stand happily corrected on my thorough dubiety regarding them.

But first and foremost right now, Rangers need to win on the pitch just as much.

And there is absolutely no sign of that happening.

  6. Hello again all you young rebels.

Meant to share this with the blog when i came back from

our club yesterday but got carried away with a rant about

something else and had to scroll back to see what i’d actually

posted, unfortunately i broke the golden rule.

    Never post when pashed.

Some of you had asked how our very own Bobby Geddes

was, i suppose as well as can be expected with that kind

of illness, his father came to the club on Sunday and

presented us with a lovely inscribed plaque which they had

made specially as a thank you for our fundraising on his sons

behalf, that will take pride of place on our clubs memorial wall

between wee Jinky and some of the other Celtic greats.

We also gave him a surprise by handing him a cheque of

$ 1500 which was sent to us last week from the Perth CFC

    magnificent gesture from these ghuys

and a further $ 500 from our members raised with raffles etc.

at Sundays bash, added to the amount already raised will help

ease the families financial worries at least.

Cue another YNWA and many tears.

Celtic supporters eh, who’s like us?
