It will surprise none of you that Fifa degreed the poppy to be an inappropriate political symbol for a football shirt, or to be paraded at a game. We’ve been slightly ahead of the game in Scotland, where the innocuous symbol which was conceived to raise money to aid destitute, often debilitated, former servicemen eat and live, has transformed into a symbol of pseudo-nationalism.
When you politicise the poppy you rob it of its universality. Today’s symbol is lesser because of this that those sold in previous decades. You can argue what political symbols are right and wrong if you have time to waste, but what is now beyond dispute is that in Britain, we pick and choose what political symbols are regarded as appropriate for football games.
Fifa and Uefa indulge in no such ambiguity.
Delighted at news that we will rest more players tonight. It will have the result of recharging some deflated batteries as well as giving opportunity to players who will benefit from the game.

Question?,who do you think is giving Sevco soft loans
One of the arguments around Res 12 is that by not pursuing it the club are failing in their duty to shareholders. The primary point being that we’ve been denied the method to maximise our income via European competition.
If the club were to follow the wishes of many of us and absolutely kill the idea of the OF, could they then not fall foul of the same argument, if pursued by other shareholders?
Personally I would have treated TRFC like any other club, at least to begin with. If the fans had shown the demand was there to return the allocation levels of RFC, then fair enough. The club would have just been responding to the fans’ wishes.

I agree with you but surely the topic is worthy of mention? Even if it is just a platitude to try to calm the situation. I’m not demanding that Paul writes this or that about it, but not mentioning it at all is just weird.
PS I have seen comments by Canamalar and Auldheid about RES 12 but have not yet seen one by BRT & H. Has he posted one?

The way I see it, the PLC take the view that the best way to dominate Scottish football is to generate the highest possible revenue. As long as Celtic are generating more money than other clubs, it leaves us in an unassailable position. The law of averages says that the team with the most money will win more often than not. There are also (some) shareholders to think about.
So when you think about the matches against Sevco. It’s a question of supply and demand. We could sell the stadium out three times over, so the PLC set the pricing strucure accordingly. No business minded people turn down the opportunity to make easy money. They couldn’t care less whether it’s a new club or not. Morals and ethics don’t come into it.
With regards to moral and ethical responsibilies, which many feel strongly are part of the very fabric and ethos of the club. The PLC will always see these aspects as of less important.
Essentially the PLC will think, look after the Business and success on the pitch will follow. That will keep the majority of fans happy and keep them coming back.
And there you have the vicious circle.
It’s modern Celtic as I know it.
PROOF ?? Years of the same people saying how the board are Huns and masons. Give me proof and I would walk away and support a lower league wee club financially. I like live football. If someone said to me the Popes in the Orange Lodge do you think I would change my religion. I’m all for Res12 as much as anyone.

Have the RES12 guys officially said it is over?
Have they closed down the communication channels with Celtic on Res 12 or have they sent Celtic the additional information that Celtic requested at last week’s meeting?
When was this meeting? THURSDAY? Still angry by the Saturday lunchtime and convey this to chap from ETims who blogs about the frustration.
Or was it on Monday? Allowing best part of a week to pass before we hear that things haven’t gone well via a cryptic blog post.
Celtic have been ultra cautious all the way on this and we all are frustrated.
We should make our minds up when we have the facts. I said yesterday that I spoke to BRTH and unless I am mistaken he said the meeting was on MONDAY, guys frustrated but matters ongoing.
It is like pulling teeth dealing with Celtic on this but a view should be reached when the guys tell us it is over. Until then,

1) It might be in a future article not this one.
2) He might be working on the story.

Re; Charities..
Maybe 2 or 3 on CQN know what I do and done for many many Years.. Reading Brendon Rodgers talking about his Christmas Day made me a bit emotional..
In May this Year I decided I couldn’t go on doing work with the Homeless many many reasons but I kept telling myself I was Judging a Lot of People because of a Few..
Last Christmas I was Happy to be involved with a Irish Couples Drive at Christmas for the Homeless..
Basically You filled a Shoebox with Toiletries T-shirts.. chocolate etc to make a Homeless persons Christmas Better..
Again I made my Decision before this and had my Reasons..
We all met up they Used My Van to Put Christmas boxes in .. Over 650 Boxes everybody involved was Delighted with the response mostly from the Irish and Scottish community here..
We drove up to the Drop off Point and a Dog greeted my Van..
I made my Night when I found out I was the Only Person to do a Christmas Box for a Dog.. and many People were happy to get what they got.. and thanked everyone personally and as I said I was only the Van driver.. but went home after drinks with other Volunteers happy..
5 month later we did a Similar thing but for winter.. Sleeping bags.. Jumpers.. Hats.. Toiletries Etc
It was then I Decided and Judged wrongly that I had to move on..
But I felt Guilt as I don’t ‘Judge’ or Try really hard Not to..
About 2 Month Later watching evening News they showed a Live arrest of a Man that the Police had being searching for.. for the Axe Murder of a Stranger 24 Hours before..
It was the Dogs (That I make to Christmas Box for) Owner..
Probably the main reason I thought.. This is Not for me anymore..
I am Not and Never will say the Homeless are Not worthy of every bit of support possible especially at this time of Year.. but over the Years I had seen Charity ‘Leaders’ and others making Money from the Homeless.. and the Charities connected to them..

Yes, it is the Board’s responsibility to maximise shareholder value. Now, given that your average fan invested in the club on the basis of an emotional investment, could it not be argued that their shareholder value is derived from the pride of being part of a moral and ethical club true to its roots?
Granted, the number of shares held by shareholders who would agree with that hypothesis is very small, which is in itself a damning indictment of the significant shareholders (some of whom have claimed on several occasions to be involved in Celtic for sentimental reasons).

But my judgement, frustration and anger is based on the Res12 guys info so it’s straight from the horses mouth. Nothing to do with Etims which I have not read and advised others to ignore until Res12 guys broke cover.
For me the info provided this far has formed my view and opinion. Funnily enough I trust Canamalar, Auldheid, Morrisey and BRTH way mot the Hun loving Celtic Rangers supporting PLC.

I don’t think Celtic have ever said anything worthy of any reaction in public wrt Resolution 12.
From what I have read it is now down to Celtic to take this forward. Stick or twist.
Celtic had the opportunity to kill it years ago but kept the ball rolling. They have made matters worse by prolonging this with more attention now on it.
If they say they won’t take it forward they risk a civil action and their reasons for not taking it on being exposed.
I am happy to contribute the current money I set aside for Celtic to an independent pursuit of the truth via whatever legal route is necessary.
