Fifa lay it on the line for SFA

264

Within a very short period following Rangers ‘success’ at the Court of Session, Fifa issued a statement intimating that while they had not yet heard from the Scottish FA, “in such a case,  FIFA will ask the Member Association to take action so that the club withdraws its request from the ordinary courts.”

If Fifa are telling the world this, they have by now told the SFA to take action to ensure Rangers withdraws its ruling from the Court of Session.

SFA chief executive, Stewart Regan, has been satisfied with his hands-off approach with Rangers as this debacle unfolded but such a policy seems to have emboldened the errant club.  The matter has now been taken out of the association’s hands, an embarrassment for every office holder at the SFA*.  After receiving legal advice yesterday evening, they will tell Rangers to walk away or be suspended from football.

Rangers have yet to accept the dual contract allegation is true and, as a corporate body, continue to refuse to produce or acknowledge evidence.  They have not even considered the ramifications of Billy Dodds’ evidence given to the Sunday Herald.  They are looking at this situation through a prism of different facts – specifically, Craig Whyte did a disproportionate amount of harm in a short period of time.

The sense of entitlement at that club, combined with a still-evident failure to show contrition for the more serious offences of the last 20 years, while insisting ‘it was all Craig Whyte’ means anything can happen next.

I’ve questioned the wisdom of a few commenters on Celtic Quick News about choosing a path which would lead to the end of our club.  There appears to be no one telling the fundamentalists running Rangers that destroying a football club while insisting you are in the right is puerile, self-defeating and what your worst enemies would wish on you.

They might be right (they’re not), but self-righteousness can destroy you.

*except Campbell Ogilvie, of course. Nothing can embarrass President What-school-did-you-go-to.

The SFA know what they need to do, their silence and waiting is final proof of how the SFA stood with their club over the years. Corrupt right to the very very end.

As well as the ‘Blame Craig Whyte’ thing its good to see there’s a ‘blame D & P’ movement in the media. The same folk who in true Scottish media style claimed them ‘one of the best administrators in the business’ on Administration night. Just hoping up anybody who was connected with the defuncters.

  5. Q: Has the consortium deposited the £2.7m specified in their proposal?

Clark: We have never confirmed what has been paid or said publicly what the terms were. We have agreed terms with Charles Green. He has deposited the money, more than the initial deposit, and there is further money being deposited over the next two weeks. That’s really all I would say.

Q: How is the administration trading shortfall of £3.6m accounted for?

Clark: It’s fairly simple. Obviously, the vast majority of income comes from season tickets sold in the first part of the season. That shortfall arises from the costs of running Murray Park and Ibrox, the players and the like.

I thought that is why administrators pay people off, so that the costs are reduced or am I just being stupid?

  7. Barcabhoy – spot on. Lord Glennie referring it back to use the sanctions detailed leaves Rangers on a very sticky wicket. A one year suspension from the Scottish Cup for offences “second only to match fixing”? I think not. If you also factor in the fact they have to be punished on top of that for having the chat with Lord Glennie in the first place, this is probably the most spectacular error of judgement Scottish Football has ever seen.

Here you have the true face of the ordure.

Scotland is hurtling, unaware,to the abyss of “alternative Ulster”.

This is what happens when the Kilwinning tendency are only reluctantly found guilty of attempted assault with a bomb…when you have a compliant and fearful msm…when you have compliant and fearful juries…when you allow an ultra-violent gang of bigoted fascists free rein.

Many of them have been hurled out of Ulster/N.I./ The Six Counties/Occupied Ireland. They are busy, busy, busy making Scotland their alternative field of war. Can this not be seen? Their own words illustrate this perfectly.

  13. 67Heaven – I originally thought as you do, and this was a ploy by D&P. I thought this as I couldn’t countenance so called professional administrators being so stupid.

I have subsequently been reliably informed they were indeed that stupid…..

  14. So the SPL meeting is going on right now. I presume RFC PLC (ia)is represented at the meeting in some form – wonder who?

Now the club currently owes the SPL money (£22,500) and through the CVA it proposes only to pay a small fraction of that debt at best.

What should the SPL do about this?

The QPR and West Ham are on the trail of Gary Hooper (24), Celtic striker. According to the Scottish Sun, both London clubs are poised to launch an offering of seven million pounds. On the trail of the player was also Southampton, but the Saints have then veered to Jay Rodriguez (22) and their offer was accepted yesterday by Burnley.

  22. Morning….

My lifelong distrust of anything hunish or to do with Scottish football is hard to shake.

No matter how much info I’m given from educated, ‘in the know’ people, regarding the huns demise.

I still can’t take it in. I’m still waiting for the ‘switcheroo’.

I still can’t believe that D and P can be so out of their depth….they can’t be that thick.

I still can’t shake the feeling that this is a massive stitch up and the huns are exactly where they want to be.

The thing I can’t get is why, what benefit’s do they get from being expelled from the SFA.

Could it be that if we want to leave Scottish football we have obstacle’s in our way.

If the huns are booted out of Scottish football, then restart as a newco with no football association, can they then apply elsewhere. (was the English club mentioned by Mark Daly..Bunstead?).

Could this be a dodge for the newhunco to start in English football, with the aim to invest and in a number of years be Championship or maybe even EPL, with the money that entails?

With the amount of cheating and law breaking the huns have done in the past I find it hard to believe they will now stop and take the punishment to fit the crime.

    Or…..

Is it time for my medication??

  23. RFCia can be suspended right now,in light of their ‘transgressions’,while The SFA considers which sanctions to impose upon them.

Of course, that won’t happen because The SFA is RFCia’s ‘Godfather’.

  25. DUFF & PHELPS administrators are likely to rack up about £17.9m in fees for their work at collapsed Scottish football club Rangers.

Paul Clark and David Whitehouse were appointed joint administrators to the club on 14 February.

According to details contained within proposals to place Rangers into a company volutary arrangement (CVA), the administrative team has run-up about £5.5m in fees for their work in compiling an exit from administration.

However, as a supervisor of the CVA they are likely to add a further £6.2m, and another £6.2m as liquidators, to their tab. A CVA and liquidation process can run for several years, but no details have been provided within the proposals as to the estimated timescale for Rangers’ CVA.

The £5.5m fee for the administrators’ work so far includes time costs and legal fees for several legal actions, including forcing ex-owner Craig Whyte’s lawyers, Collyer Bristow, to hand over £3.9m, and a separate legal action against them which is due to finish later this year.

The administrators also managed to convince bidder Sevco to transfer £200,000 for running costs in exchange for exclusivity rights to the club.

Sevco, a consortium of investors fronted by Charles Green, are willing to advance Rangers £8.3m following CVA approval.

The club hopes to exit administration through a CVA which needs 75% or more of creditors, by value of debt, to approve the deal.

However, after administrator fees and other costs such as player transfer fees and trading costs it is likely unsecured creditors will receive between 3p – 9p for every pound owed.

HM Revenue & Customs are the second largest unsecured creditor with debts of £21.5m and Ticketus is the largest with £26.7m.

    Fans Against Corruption says:

I expect Rangers (IA) to be suspended from membership of the SFA until further notice – no specific time limit put on the suspension. This approach puts the ball firmly back in Rangers court – they can save themselves, but only if they step back into line and recognise, amongst other things, the authority of the SFA Disciplinary panel / appeals process. I expect that a list of criteria will be drawn up which will allow Rangers to exit this suspension at any time – but they will have to want to. The SFA will be seen as being hard in FIFAs eyes, yet leaving the door open for the tax evaders to decide if they want to be a football club or not – their decision.

And on the SPL front – I don’t think suspension, from a rules perspective, may prevent them from appearing in the SPL –

but the SFA are contracted to provide referees for association-affiliated matches. They will not be able to do this for a suspended club – hence tacitly, if Rangers do not agree to terms to exit the suspension (before the new season), they will not be able to participate in matches in Scotland.

Again, it will be their choice.

Regardless of what shape, form or division they are in.

    What a sound approach.
