Fife, soft tissue and protecting investors

816

A stream of criticism appeared in yesterday’s comments section to greet media coverage of yesterday’s Scottish Cup draw away to Inverness Caledonian Thistle or Dunfermline on 4 February.  Such is our lot (long) after shock cup defeats; remember, these guys literally have to write something.  No one mentioned 1961 so put your money on a trip to Fife next month.

A few moments ago Celtic confirmed Beram Kayal went through his operation yesterday and is now targeting a return to action for preseason.  Irrespective of the circumstances of the incident in which he was injured, Beram’s is another in a long list of soft tissue injuries Celtic players have suffered in recent seasons, a fact which should engage minds at the club.

Rangers issued a really curious statement following the suspension of trading in their shares by the Plus Stock Exchange.  Many Rangers fans have invested thousands of pounds in club shares and bonds, so one would have expected to read the obligatory suggestion from the company that investors take professional advice when addressing the withdrawal of the share disposal service.  Still, at least they didn’t suggest “Rangers Football Club PLC could survive any administration event but feels it would not be the end of the world if it didn’t”.  That kind of comment from those charged to look after their interests really would alarm shareholders.

I understand that Mr. Whyte/White will want a receiver in place, if this were to happen, would this upset the authorities in scotland more than an administrator ?

Or would they not care either way.

It seems as a layman the receivership is in it for himself as opposed to the club.

Jamie Vardy scored twice for Fleetwood tonight in their 4-1 win over Barrow. Blackpool had a bid of £750,000 rejected yesterday. Word is they want £1.25m for him

That rules out the Huns who had John Brown watching him tonight

I’ve never been a gambler, thanks be to God, although it’s very much a family tradition.

The second half just started. Mourinho certainly seems keen to win the game, judging by the team he put out, but in addition to losing Khedira, Kaká went off at half-time and Marcelo came on.

He may think, ‘right, let’s just get through this with no more injuries’.

Málaga seemed definitely to be playing for 0-0 at half-time, but need a goal, so they are the ones who have to change at the moment. If it’s still 0-0 on the hour mark, Málaga might open up, making them vulnerable to the classic Real Madrid smash and grab.

But I wouldn’t put money on it.

“That rules out the Huns who had John Brown watching him tonight ”

John Brown was there to get in one of his famed “early” tackles if there had been an announcement that Celtic had signed Vardy.

  6. Pirri just said he expects Benzema to come on imminently. That would be Real Madrid’s last change. Seems strange. In theory this could still go to extra time.

What’s best in everyone’s interest is that the administrator cannot sell the club as a going concern, but reaches an agreement with creditors to pay off an amount in the pound over a period of two years or so (ever seen how much these administrators cost?). This might, just might, get creditors more than what they might otherwise receive from a liquidation of assets.

Part of this x pence in the pound will be sweetened by a chunk up front, possibly by selling some assets – players most likely. All loan contracts would have been cancelled immediately and obviously a transfer embargo would be put in place during the period of administration.

After the first season of administration, the orcs would have a hundred or so cuts and finish 4th, mibbes 5th. Crowds would have dropped alarmingly and towards registration time for the second season, the administrator, alarmed at such misfortune would sell Ibrox on a rent-back basis primarily to finance the final part of the x pence in the pound, but also to keep the club running for the next season.

At the end of the second season of administration, the agreement on debts are cleared (to the tune of 30p in the pound or something extraordinarily ridiculous).

The administrator would then sell the club on, with no stadium, few players and little or no backroom infrastructure for a pittance – possibly a pound or thereabouts.

The club being sold on would, by this time, be playing in front of 20,000 fans with an annual stadium lease of £3-5m to cover, which would be interesting (the stadium lease part).

SPL rules currently prohibit ground sharing with any club from the SFL unless the SPL side gets a guarantee of fixture priority from the SFL club (which would have to come from the SFL, not the SFL club) – Falkirk anyone?

So they’d be stuck at Ibrox, renting a stadium they don’t need and can’t afford. And so they’d continue to cut playing costs. And by extension crowds. And soon 1980-86 doesn’t look too bad – four cups more than they’ll see for a while.

    ORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

At the end of the two years, the administrator does indeed pull the plug, but only after the orcs have welched on deals with most SPL clubs, thus ensuring no Newco near the SPL for a while.

I thought Stirling/Stenhousemuir but stand corrected and it was a self inflicted waterlogging.

Dont know if this has been debated yet. Over the past few days its been reported that thems havent submitted audited accounts. My thought is that thems accounts are in such a mess no respected accountancy company will take the risk of signing them off.

Not a case of not liking Ronnie. Not at all. Fine player.

  19. Málaga have some great players, although nearer the end than the beginning of their careers. I had forgotten they had that oil money to play with.
