Focus shifts to Pittodrie

Tonight Aberdeen play the second of a run of three consecutive away games. After overcoming St Johnstone 3-4 in Perth a week ago they are on the road to face Inverness. The Highlanders have not lost in a month, and haven’t lost at home since the visit of Celtic in November, so John Hughes men will provide a stern test for Aberdeen.

Aberdeen are back on the road to Firhill on Friday night. Their season has been free of fixture congestion. This is a rare week with two games, and an even rarer one with two away games. It could be a pivotal period in the campaign.

Celtic won comfortably in the end against Ross County but confidence seemed at a low ebb until Leigh Griffiths opened the scoring. Sentiment may have swung in our favour before we take to the field at home to Inverness on Saturday.

Bada B “RD said Roberts won’t feature in the first team this season. ”

I don`t think Ronny did say that.

I think you’ll find that what was reported (by most) wasn’t actually what Ronny said. The actual quotes were all over Twitterland although I can’t accurately remember them ;-)

  3. Bada,

He said “I’m not saying he won’t play.”

I think the double negative confused some folks.

Manager Ronny Deila has told The Scottish Sun that Roberts may not feature much until the end of the season, as he wants to get Roberts up to speed with how Celtic play before throwing him into the first team, but didn’t totally rule out the possibility of him adjusting quickly.

“This is 18 months and he needs time to adapt to how we train and play,” said Deila. “He also had some injuries before he arrived, so he still needs to get better fitness-wise. We’ve spoken with him a lot and he has skills, which means he can do something at this level.”

  6. Bada,

Someone on here said that that is what Ronny said. Someone else ( might even have been me!) provided the quote where Ronny suggested otherwise,

  9. Ronny about Paddy

“This is 18 months and he needs time to adapt to how we train and play,” said Deila. “He also had some injuries before he arrived, so he still needs to get better fitness-wise. We’ve spoken with him a lot and he has skills, which means he can do something at this level.”

“He was up and down in the Under-20 game, but there were times he was at a fantastic level. He scored a very good goal and has touch and vision. We have to use this first half of the year to get him adapted, but I’m not saying he can’t be involved. Hopefully he can kick on as quickly as possible,” he added.

  10. Wulli was right to book Taylor there. No hand of God in the Highlands. Half Time one all could go either way.

My viewing over for the night, Mrs. corkcelt put down the paper a few minutes ago and said turn off that flipping game, Celtic aren’t even playing.

Tried to explain the significance of game but fell on deaf ears.

Relying on CQN for updates 2nd half.

  11. Anyone watchin the Inverness game ?

Taylor of Aberdeen got booked there for a hand ball in the Inverness box…

Commntators say deliberate….but I thought he was being pulled by Inverness player & using his arm for balance.

    Anyways Inverness 11/4

  13. Yes Ronny did say “Roberts would have to adjust to Scottish football” maybe he meant to say the weather….. whats this new one “He will have to adjust to the speed Celtic play at” the last Celtic player I saw with speed was Bellamy…….no mention of back passing or side passing ?????? guess that’s for a later date.

I would never accuse you of quoting from the MSSM ! I was aware you were referencing a comment or two from CQN.

ICT sheepie game could go either way. Sheep looked sharp at the start but ICT looking every bit as dangerous as the half went on. Wee Wullie 4 eyes having no a bad game (I know, I know) as long as he doesn’t hand out any daft reds.
