Foregone conclusion territory

1955

I don’t know about you but practically every football thought I have at the moment is connected to where we go next. The small matter of winning the league title has slipped into ‘foregone conclusion’ territory, which is always dangerous.

The players will be no different from the rest of us, but they will have more on their minds. A change of manager is likely to mean a new system, and new squad requirements. They need to focus on making the best of the next five games. One thing that has been reassuring this week is Ronny Deila’s comments. His professional pride is clear; he’ll apply himself fully to the task in hand until the end of the season.

Eyes on the task of winning the league, as soon as possible.

    Have a good lie in.

With one day off this week it sounds as if you deserve it.

And a wee drop of the hard stuff.

    Mid arvo. Sydney.

Tomorrow Anzac day. BIG day in Oz. Holiday with respectful ceremonies at the Dawn Service followed by a total piss up and “two up ” a wee gambling game involving two old pennies.

    Very traditional.

    Cheers, pal.

    Cheers MacJay,

The above was posted before I read your last one – sorry son.

You have a real good Aussie day.

All the best from Dingwall – we’ll speak after the game today.

    Dingwall.

    Half your luck.

I was in the Western Heilans last October .

Glorious. That was the opinion of my family.

    And mine.

    Enjoy the game , pal.

    MacJay,

North West Highlands – I’m no sure exactly how much coastline – an awful lot. My area of wee bit knowledge is Wester Ross and Sutherland – and I’ve seen barely a fraction of that. Wee bits down Argyle way as well – Oban Connel direction…spent primary one in LochGilphead funnily enough; beside the Crinnan Canal.

Lived in Scotland all my life and know it better than most but know enough to know I’ve barely scratched the surface.

Quiet has now descended – and the doos, (wild – no mine) – is the only sound I hear.

The quotes from Ronny Deila’s press conference, IMHO, indicate more class than shown by his predecessor at the time of his sudden departure.

Some people just won’t let go . As already pointed out result wise on a par with predecessor.

Lessons to be learned as always and hopefully mistakes rectified.

New person requires the support of us all and whatever will be, will be.

Hopefully he can do better but no doubt there will be some only too anxious to condemn/vilify if things do not work out. HH

    Lenny` s departure.

Maybe one day, but the fact he wishes to return surely speaks volumes.

    MACJAY,

I actually do like Neil Lennon – not sure about a return.

My point was that things did not work out with RD who originally was supposed to be hired to develop the youth programme. He sure made mistakes but to call him “a dud” is not only unfair but if we can comparing the records with his immediate predecessor, untrue. I am pretty sure he did not set out to fail and he is not the only failure.

The man is going. No need to keep hurling insults. Only my view as to how we deal with things. HH

    See what I mean?

Seen Mallaig from the Skye side at Armadale there.

Been in Fort William a thousand times, (did you know it was called Maryburgh before King Billy built the Fort?), but I have only been as far down the road to Mallaig from there as Glenuig – to a folk festival one night. I have never seen the Charles Edward Stewart monument at Glenfinnan.

Great places, great people. I have friends from Morar who came to Dingwall in the 70s.

I always have a wee smile to myself when on the BBC Gaelic news they mention Fort William. There is no word in Gaelic for “Fort William”. They say, “an Ghairisten”, (sp). The Garrison.

Where MacDonald of Glencoe failed to meet the deadline of the oath of alliegance to King Billy…and sparked the infamous massacre at Glencoe.

Glenfinnan is great altho` you can`t now climb the monument without paying for a guide.

    The march of regress.

Close by is the viaduct. We climbed up there to watch puffing Billy go past.

Over the next few weeks, my betting fortunes rest in the hands of the Wizard of Wishaw, the Celtic chief executive and the voters of the United Kingdom. I wonder if anyone else is reliant on that eclectic mix of characters?

I have a ton each-way on John Higgins for the World Championship at 20-1, along with a £120 double with Hills on David Moyes to be the next Celtic manager (2-1) and the UK to vote Leave in the EU referendum (15-8).

Come on Mr Lawwell – Moyesy is clearly the right man for the job. And come on everybody else – vote Leave. Ignore the speculative whining that we might lose a few quid here and there by leaving – smash that enormous 15-8 Leave price to pieces and you’ll probably have covered any losses immediately.”

  17. I am guessing that it was the Blue Order who organised the Sevco TIFO display at Hampden last week ,and that it was representatives of The Green Brigade who organised the one at the Celtic end.

Whoever it was .The Sevco one ,was by far the better display.

It was colourful ,it was in support of their team and their fans.

The one at the Celtic end was pathetic .

We have had some marvellous displays at Hampden previously.

No paradise for me today. Oldest Bhoy said he will give it a miss. He goes everywhere to see Celtic even bumping into Paul the Tim at youth games a few times.

His coup de grace was disappearing on the overnight train to see Celtic play Brentford arranging hotel in London and telling nobody. We eventually tracked him down after the game , we were up the wall with worry. My wife flew down that night at short notice and took him home next day.

Am i reading you correctly, you are praising a banner using pedophilia as a successful way to point score at a football match, i disagree totally, we have very different views on how to support your team, praising a banner which sprang from minds in the gutter, a banner sprang from a deep irrational hatred of Celtic and reflected the madness within the Sevco support

    Poor comment TT

I didn’t realise they had displayed such a vile banner. Confirms all we already know about them. As for the GB trying to point score over that type of filth, I’d much rather they didn’t. The zombie thing is a bit of banter, THAT paedophile one you refer to is disgusting. . Lowlife.
