Foregone conclusion territory

1955

I don’t know about you but practically every football thought I have at the moment is connected to where we go next. The small matter of winning the league title has slipped into ‘foregone conclusion’ territory, which is always dangerous.

The players will be no different from the rest of us, but they will have more on their minds. A change of manager is likely to mean a new system, and new squad requirements. They need to focus on making the best of the next five games. One thing that has been reassuring this week is Ronny Deila’s comments. His professional pride is clear; he’ll apply himself fully to the task in hand until the end of the season.

Eyes on the task of winning the league, as soon as possible.

“Forrest. Ronny done well by James. Physically and injury wise, Ronny made sure James was fit to play. Far more than Neil Lennon and his staff did. Yet, how did James repay Ronny. The evidence is clear. Hee-haw ”

    Not strictly true.

Ronny tossed James on as a sub in the Legia game knowing he was not ready and set his recovery back by over a month. It was after that he started talking about knowing what James needed but, like all managers before him, he called on James when he needed him, whether James was ready or not.

Still hate to see James go but, once he goes, he is an ex-Celt and of little interest to me.

I said after the Legia game that those players better start playing for and not against their manager.

    ================================================================

Won`t come as much of a shock to hear that I disagree and feel that the performance of individual players and of the team will dramatically improve on his departure. Maybe even before.

Players played out of preferred positions.

Players being asked to do what they were incapable of doing ( One of big Jock`s mantras ………..never ask a player to do something of which he is incapable.)

    Bizarre team selections.

    No settled team formations.

Bizarre substitutions………….Rogic on with 10 mins to go. Zviachenko left on the bench……….Both scorers.

The substitution of Kris just after he had laid on a goal in Malmo (?) and the understandable display of anger which followed.

Fails to recognise the ability of Leigh for god knows how long.

The continued retention of Johanssen when he was patently off form.

The failure to introduce mature players to the team whom he had signed……Allan and Christie .

Carlton Cole.HE signed. Not the perrennial C.Q.N. scapegoat with whom he says he had an excellent relationship

Given a lifeline after the Legia humiliation and still contrives to lose us 12 million quid.

But wait . There`s more. Much much more.

    Tactics against Rangers.

    Dear god. One up front.

The huns should have been slaughtered.

Ronny. Superb in theory .Shitty in practice.

BobM, funny thing is my pal I was out with, apart from my pal being a polis, and one who doesn’t care for football, his daughter is the assistant physio with Kilmarnock (a wee cutie btw).

She’s been turned by Kilmarnock into a very anti Celtic young lady by elbows and “the greatest striker ever to grace the premier league”.

They never flinched when I said their girl was working for cheap huns without a train fare.

I told them I hope killie get relegated.

I’m sure we’ll be able to salvage some kind of friendship but I’m not that bothered either way.

Must be the first time in all my years I’ve heard goal scoring subs being described as bizarre.

If another manager done the same they’d be called inspired substitutions.

Big Erik was struggling with injury beforehand and rogic simply cannot play 90 mins.

There’s usually a simple answer to bizarre situations if one is willing to think.

I want Champions league money and the status it brings , because that is the only way we can attract players to join our club .

I really was ( not quite ) distraught at the departure of Virgil . But there was no incentive for an ambitious young man to stay.

    Who could blame him?

  20. MacJay,

PL re- joined Celtic as CEO in 2003, Sept.

That year we played in Seville.

Have a look at what PL was doing before that,

    2005, MoN, leaves.

    WGS 2005-2009, steps down.

Mowbray, 2009-2010, dismissed. WBA were apparently paid £2m in comp.

NL, 2010-2014, starts as a rookie, after mess with Mowbray. Leaves, ‘parts company?’

RD, 2014-2016, Announces he’s leaving after losing to Sevco.

From Seville to where we are at now. If you can’t see any culpability in PL, in anything well I’d of loved you as a boss. Off to my bed long day.

As an aside, can you remember if NL and his staff got a severance deal on leaving? I think I remember Paul67 writing about that. I think a couple of years ago in the Annual or Interim accounts?

Finally, I saw there that Moyes is 3/1 Fav for Everton if Martinez goes.

  23. The club is finished if Lawwell is allowed to appoint another manager.

If, Desmond disny get rid of Lawwell then, the fans should get rid of them both!

How do they do that ?

Keep yer money in yer pocket and don’t renew yer season book money.

Thing is, if Celtic supporters stand strong, the PLC-era is over.

All we’ve heard since the PLC’s inception is…

“We canny live with the EPL TV-Money etc…blah, blah!”

“The absence of R*ngers is costing us £10 million a year!”

But, ye know what…it’s not about the amount of money that is spent on the team,

it’s about ‘how’ that outlaw is managed, do we get bang for buck ?

    Naaaaaaah,…..imho.

Too many players signed, suits somebody.

    Who is that somebody ?

Any financial shark can see that the continual pursuit of a recruitment path that has far more wastage than, pebbles on the beach is, economical madness….surely.

    Maybe it’s, convenient madness ?

A madness that can easily be passed off as – the football managers incompetence – once he’s signed his confidentiality-clause-agreement.

Also, the financial sharks wouldn’t be pursuing this recruitment path if it didn’t suit them.

So, why does it suit them ?

I’ll be huckled to the nearest court to explain my reasons that I think they pursue this, recruitment path if I put them on here.

So, let’s leave it by saying…..

Celtic PLC is not run by Snowmen.

They should and, have to be emptied or, Lawwell’s driving of Celtic toward’s a slow car-crash will continue unabated.

Keep yer money in yer pockets and, get rid of them.

This is yer last chance to save Celtic FC from the clutches of the anti-Celtic-Establishment….while Lawwell & co, look the other way.

You gotta ask yer self a question – “Do you love Celtic ?”

Or, are you more interested in your own little – Celtic’s Greatest Fan Badge ? Hmmmmmm.

If, you love Celtic and, don’t want a club, run by folk who look the other way from cheating and, reign-in managers who stand up to the cheating then, be prepared to make a heroic decision to, deny the kowtowers your money to furnish they’re expensive, heated-drive-way lifestyles based on they’re plastic governance of a fools paradise.

Celtic are run by a Hierarchy of, Corporate Mo Johnston’s.

I canny shake this horrible feeling that, the findings of Res : 12 will reveal that, Celtic PLC were ‘more’ than, instrumental in all of the industrial cheating of, innocent, well meaning Celtic supporters who’s only crime was they’re love of, what was a once great club – Celtic FC.

Sit on yer season book money until the Res : 12 findings are revealed.

    MacJay,

And look where that got us! Poor Prince Charlie…I did like him in history.

With regard to your nearly ex Norwegian manager…

I posted on here at the time , or not long after, my thoughts on his appointment….and it was along this train of thought.

I’ve worked in Norway and with Norwegians a lot in my own line.

Generalising, they are good people, with a confidence in themselves…which is not justified in the real world.

For instance: a crane accident; “The certification for the crane was not in order…and that was in Norway.”

As if the least likely place for that to be so.

My thoughts, which I kept to myself, were that this was exactly what I would expect, given what I’d seen over the previous year’s work.

Transferring the same experience to football – we, as a people and a country underestimate our own abilities.

    Nice guy though.

  29. It has been a hard week.

For our management team and the fans.

The doubts about their future have been cleared.

At least they leave with the certainty of 2 league titles in a row on their CVs.

That alone should ensure that after a short hiatus they are employable.

    What about the players though?

They are in contract and will continue to collect their generous compensation.

Many of the skelf collectors will move on to other clubs for over inflated signing on fees.

I suspect the training and dietary regime irked many of the older squad members.

How do they feel about the loss last Sunday?

Were they ashamed? They should be.

Gutless. Nowhere did I see a sense of pride in the hoops.

Where was the inspiration from our captain?

He who failed miserably in the basic skill of hitting a dead ball from 12 yards.

Where was the desire to win from the MIA GMS?

Our over hyped and overpaid squad were intimidated by a bunch of journeymen signed or loaned from the depths of the lower divisions in England.

Those who were so self indulgent they thought all they needed to do was to turn up.

The back passers. Buck passers who are scared to take on the responsibility of taking on a man or making a forward pass.

Those who are happy that a teenager is the only one to show pride in their profession and pride for the jersey they wore.

I suspect many of those who let us down last week are the ones who have not accepted the fitness requirements of being a professional athlete in the modern game.

It’s time they all modeled themselves on the training regimes of professional tennis players.

I give you Andy Murray, Federer, Djokovick as examples.

I only blame the manager for having the naivety to believe our mollycoddled players are truly motivated to lay it all out for the fans and club.

Let’s raise the league flag and order a railway coach to transport the deadwood, the self obsessed and the non triers down south or abroad wherever the can con a fresh club and set of fans.

  30. Aye that was purgative.
