Foregone conclusion territory

1955

I don’t know about you but practically every football thought I have at the moment is connected to where we go next. The small matter of winning the league title has slipped into ‘foregone conclusion’ territory, which is always dangerous.

The players will be no different from the rest of us, but they will have more on their minds. A change of manager is likely to mean a new system, and new squad requirements. They need to focus on making the best of the next five games. One thing that has been reassuring this week is Ronny Deila’s comments. His professional pride is clear; he’ll apply himself fully to the task in hand until the end of the season.

Eyes on the task of winning the league, as soon as possible.

  1. And lastly, for what it is worth…. My break down of the managerial candidates.

Malkay McKay : Fuck no. with his background, he’d be demonised from all quarters before a ball was kicked

Neil Lennon : Sorry Neil. Liked by many a Celtic fan, but no for me. You had equally bad domestic performances compared with Ronny. Ur domestic cup record was equally abysmal.

Paul Lambert : Minimal explanation needed. Not good enough

Henrik Larsson : Forever loved, now and always. But Henke, stay clear. The management post at Celtic would bring you in line with sleekit. A legend that fails as manager.

    Moyes : mibee’s aye mibee’s naw

R.Keane. : question marks remain over your managerial tenure. I’d be willing to give you half a chance. Particularly if M.Oneil joined you in a f.ball director role.

    A.Stubbs. : not ready. Doesn’t warrant it

Michael Oneil : with either Austin McPhee and/or Ian Cathro….. U guys are my outside bet

Gary Caldwell : unfortunately for you mate. U are an unpopular name amongst the tic fans. I think you are doing a grand job at Wigan. Possibly will become a right good manager .

    John Hughes : No….nae offence

Agree with you there, mate. Leigh got pelters for past daft-boayishness,as though we are all saints.

IMO,and stated it frequently, there is always room for the maverick in football. Plenty of times, they are the ones you want to see.

Aye,of course, times have changed and it’s all about workrate now,but for me,going to the match also meant the inevitable post-match discussion.

The-Did you see, what about, wow, ffs that was just magic-bits that we pulled to death over a few beers.

    Now?

It’s rare. A fella like Leigh is rare too. But to give him his due,I saw a pic of him in RD’s first pre-season wi a paunch. The guy has worked hard, and I respect him for that.

He isnae Joe McBride. Nor Brian McClair. He certainly isnae Henrik. But he’s the best we’re likely to have for a while.

    My sentiments exactly.

Ronny hung out to dry. He is modern thinking. But sadly lacked the support, both internally (I.e the lazy players). And externally (in the msm)

Personally, I wish the guy all the best. I can see him managing a Malmo or a Molde, and really serving us a banana skin in future year qualifiers.

I commented earlier that Soundbite Pete has been uncharacteristically silent for a week. Fun oot,as KEVJ would say.

Me,I worry that he is licking his wounds wi no intention of chucking it.

You and I and a few others have been critical of him for a long long time. And you know what,I hate it when I’m right and it harms my club. I know you do too.

I hope he is hanging around just so he can get a payoff. It might make some people on here realise at last just what a money-grabbing bastard he has always been.

With the exception of Scott Brown-aye,beggars belief,eh?-he has earned more wages from Celtic than anyone in our long history.

Goodnight my friend. Tomorrow, sorry today, I expect a good vibrant crowd. A crowd that supports the team and the brand Celtic.

  9. Here is my analysis regards Ronny….. And it doesn’t bode well for some players.

The players that let him down, he rightfully identified their weakness.

Commons No.1 culprit. Ronny came in to Celtic, and was probably shocked to see how overweight, off the pace, and unfit one man can be.

Forrest. Ronny done well by James. Physically and injury wise, Ronny made sure James was fit to play. Far more than Neil Lennon and his staff did. Yet, how did James repay Ronny. The evidence is clear. Hee-haw

Mulgrew. Although has been decent of late. Charlie’s big failure was believing he was a centre mid. Added to that, a year of absence through injury and lack of fitness

Efe Ambrose… I shouldn’t have to explain this one. Guy resembled at most a competent player under Lennon. Under Ronny Efe wouldn’t have warranted a game in my amateur team.

C.Gordon. At times this year, Gordon has been incredibly weak in goal. His form has picked up since arrival of Erik… Prior to that, a season to forget.

I said after the Legia game that those players better start playing for and not against their manager.

I could identify culprits then and since. They have got their way,and I hope they’re well pleased.

Meantime, their stock with the support has been diminished. I won’t forget their part in it,I doubt I’m alone in that.

  12. antipodean red on

    Geordie,

The only way that RD will serve us up a banana skin is if we continue to make the same mistakes as we have done for the past two years. Ronny’s ideas were fine, his implementation was not, the recruitment was not.

If we don’t learn from these then we will deserve more of the same and any banana skins that follow.

Just coming out of the depression that has gripped me for the past week.

  13. Geordie

Is that what you call it.

Maybe you are employed in a role or a company that stands still. And that’s your viewpoint.

Ultimately, I am not dwelling on anything other than improvement.

Improvement / growth are what Celtic f.c need to strive for.

What we don’t need , is. sensitive fans blind to our weaknesses.

Every thriving business is aware of its strengths and weaknesses.

It’s just that some Celtic fans don’t tolerate anyone pointing out a weakness.

It is those fans , (maybe you) that prevent our club from realising what is weak, and improving it.

  14. My friends in Celtic,

What is abundantly clear, is that repercussions will follow RD being mutually consented.

Fans favourites, potential money spinners no matter. They are all in our sights. As stated earlier RD is only the first domino.

    D.O.B’s just don’t get it.

Just back from a night out with a good pal, a polis from Forfar. Had a meal at the playwright in Dundee and my pal got talking to a guy at the next table who was an ex Dundee polis. All fine up to this point, no issue, not a problem.

Then the cunt comes out with that he’s just back from a holiday in spain with his hun pals to watch the hun players win the petrofac cup.

Cue, my mate quickly tell him I’m a tim. Then the fun began.

Him: Your lot will never win the petrofac cup.

Me: I fucking hope not, that would mean we’d been relegated or worse, liquidated like your lot to have to qualify.

Him: We’re winning the league next year. We are spending millions.

Me: No you’re not. You don’t have millions and your owner is a lying criminal shyster, and your thick as fuck believing in his output,

Him; We will be looking down on you next season, watp.

Me: FFS, how thick are you?

My mate’s wife: Maybe we should get the bill.

Me: No, let me rip this hun twat a bit longer.

My wife: Shut up Micheal, you’re out of order.

Me: Not in this hun prick’s company I’m not.

    My mate: Pishing himself laughing.

    The hun: watp.

My mrs, My mate’s mrs, <y mate: Maybe we should go over the road for a drink.

    The hun: watp.

Me: which of the rangers clubs did you support? the old club or the new club?

    the hun: I supported both.

Me: So you admit you changed your support from one to the other.

    Hun: eh eh eh watp.

Me FFS, how thick are you.

My Mrs: Michael, why don't you give it a rest.

Me: why when there's a thick hun bigot to educate.

  27. BMCUW…

Selfish and over rated players contrived to see off the manager; agreed.

Of major concern though, is where was the help for the manager from the (imposed) back room ‘support’ staff and his immediate upper management team?

    Cowards all…

BTW, I am not nor ever was a Deila fan but in all fairness, he was lumbered with an Herculean remit way beyond his capabilities. Shame really, he seems to be an OK sort of guy…

In any case, the malaise at CP goes way beyond Ronny Deila and his (perceived) lack of firm management…

The analogy of fish rotting from the head down comes to mind…
