Seven goal scores are remarkably scarce in football but for the second time this month we look ahead to a Champions League opponent who has recently scored that number in a single game. Helsingborgs went to town on Swedish Allsvenskan side Kalmar yesterday. Kalmar are struggling in the league this season but were faring better in Europe until Young Boys of Berne overturned a Europa League deficit against them on Thursday.
Form appears to vary widely in the Swedish league, not idea circumstances for placing a bet.
Midweek friendly internationals will not help Neil Lennon’s preparations as Celtic face the third of five games on the road in the Highlands on Saturday before heading to Sweden, especially as the early season injury count rises inexplicably. I would caution against risking too much on a bet on the Ross County game for this reason. County’s remarkably year-long run without a league defeat might stretch another week.
The first issue of CQN Magazine of the new season is due to be with you soon. If you would like to contribute an article to a future edition let me know, articles@cqnmagazine.co.uk. Final shout also for anyone who would like to advertise to the same address.

Don’t know for sure but I’d think you’d need to come back as far as Dumbarton to find a Celtic shop mate.
You’ll find Celtic supporters down there but not a pub.
Sorry don’t know what happened there. Colour blind bhoy that was for you.

Dumbarton is closed Monday to Thursday.

Haven’t been in Campbeltown for a few years. Thank God. One of the few places outside south Ayrshire where its truly Orc dominated- like old school Rangers central. I think I watched us beat Caley 1–0 a couple of year ago when Paddy scored…a pub called the commercial inn. But it wasn’t a Celtic pub- but wasn’t a hun shop either.
I was told to avoid the Burnside by a few tims for some reason…hope it helps but things may have changed since then.

They do know it’s the 21st century?? :-)

Campbeltown is not really Tic friendly. The only thing you will see more than oldco/sevco/newco tops is single teenage females pushing prams.
good luck

Terrible news about your brother.
May Stephen rest in peace.
You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers at this very sad time.
Ever since I was a child, I have been proud to be Scottish, never British, Scottish. Nothing controversial there though there has always been something that has never sat comfortably with me as a Celtic fan and being a proud Scot. I have been uncomfortable at times when supporting Scotland in the company of some Celtic fans. At one point if I was going to the pub to watch a Scotland game I chose to go to a neutral venue rather than a known Celtic pub as I knew there would be a small element that would be negative towards my country.
I love the fact that my descendants, on both sides of my family came from Ireland. My father’s side originate from Blackrock, Dublin. It’s been rumoured in the family that we are descended from Edmund Rice, though never, has any evidence been provided to confirm this apart from one or two family members bearing his name.
My mother’s mother’s family are from Monahan and bear that county’s name as their own surname. Her father’s family are of Scots stock coming from the borders, her father, my own grandfather played for Celtic in the 1920s, he played in the same team as McGrory and Thompson among others.

We are all so proud of our heritage both Scots and Irish. I once posted on The Celtic Network about my family celebrating David Wilkie winning a medal at the Olympics and how after us kids had been put to bed out came the rebel tunes, to be blasted from our record player. I never had a problem with this as a youngster; I still don’t, as I think we can all share a dual national identity at times.
We all know the history of Ireland and the part played by Britain, Scots included, in the brutal repression of the people and culture. The partition of the north will forever be a stain on British foreign policy and the policy of divide and rule. Why is it such a taboo for certain Celtic fans to acknowledge that we have several identities?
I saw many of my friends when watching the Olympics were proud of Murray for being a Scot and also proud of the likes of Nicola Addams for winning Britain’s first ever gold in the women’s boxing. I also found myself cheering on John Joe Niven among others in the Irish team. My facebook page had updates from friends in England saying they wished JJ and Katie Holmes well in their quest for Gold in their respective finales. It appeared that even among those without Irish relations there is an affinity with those from over the water.
What has been disappointing for me has been the reaction, at times, of Celtic fans on twitter e.g. , when some Celtic fans have cheered on and encouraged Team GB members when they have been competing at the Olympics. There were those among our support that openly criticized Andy Murray for singing a few words of the British National Anthem, when others came to his defence they were turned on and derided by a small minority.
I am a Nationalist who wants one day to live in a Scotland free of the rule of Westminster; I don’t support the current SNP administration and will vote no in any vote on Independence as I feel that this country isn’t at a stage where it could be trusted to run its own affairs. There is something not pleasant in this country at the moment. I first became aware of this once Neil Lennon was confirmed as Celtic manager. This awareness that something isn’t right has intensified since then, it’s going to get worst over the next few years as the Orcs plough their way through the lower reaches of our leagues. I firmly believe that over the coming years the WATP mentality will grow into outright fascism which will leave a dark stain on the communities and people of this country.
We must guard against ourselves being drawn into this and developing our own siege mentality.
My grandfather who played for Celtic also fought for his country in WW2. He wasn’t a hero who won a medal fighting against German gun emplacements and capturing dozens of German prisoners. No he was a regular soldier who did what his country asked, defended his country against a Fascist aggressor.
Can I as a Celtic fan feel pride in the fact my Grandfather wore the Uniform of the crown and took his country’s shilling? For me yes without question I can, as Celtic is an inclusive club that welcomes all regardless of race, religion or political persuasion. Why then is there an element within our support that would shun those that were to sing the national anthem of Britain or salute the flag of Team GB. We can help Scotland come through this period of turmoil by recognising we all have multiple shared identities that enhance this country and its culture. Let’s lead the way and start a national debate on the real issues that are holding Scotland back from its place in the real world.
