Predicting what is about to happen in Scottish football is a bit of an art. We all realise that just about everyone has an agenda, so the first thing most of us do is ignore whatever overt line is being promoted by one or two sources of ill-repute, especially when they suggest that Sevco will definitely play football in the SFL First Division next season.
So far around 11 clubs have intimated they will vote against this proposal while only Stenhousmuir, the very club that stepped forward to give former SFA president George Peat a seat of the board after he completed his work with Airdrieoneans, have offered the Loyal support.
Apart from Stenhousmuir, only Stewart Regan and Neil Doncaster seem keen on the idea of allowing Sevco to start their sporting life in two levels up from the bottom.
Ally McCoist spoke some wise words to online channel, Rangers TV (current ownership model unclear). Having gained some first-hand managerial experience against Falkirk last season, McCoist knows that First Division football would give Sevco no guarantee of promotion. He complained that he has only six first team players at the moment, although didn’t add “and they are rubbish”.
There is also the suspicion that Sevco are not shifting a lot of season tickets, income levels could be acutely low, and their potential fans appear to have no more appetite for a grubby accommodation than anyone else. Apart from Stenhousmuir, Regan and Doncaster, of course.
McCoist addressed the prospect of additional punishments to be handed to Sevco for the misdemeanours of Rangers as a further reason to go straight to the bottom of the pile, however, he didn’t touch on the obvious point.
The only way Sevco are going to avoid penalties for Rangers EBT behaviour is if the former club is found to have acted correctly, or if Sevco make no claims to inherit Rangers club licence, name, badge or other unique identifiers.
Anyway, we have Inter Milan, Real Madrid and the Champions League qualifiers to look forward to. Bring them on!

Any excuse for a day out :-)

I heard Thistle’s hospitality suite package is great value, for someone well-hospitalitis-ed. I’m in for rolling up at a Hun game ;)
I meant FROM someone well-hospitalitis-ed.

A thousand thanks. Canamalar.
I never thought to see the day that I would appreciate such a criticism.
Just home an hour ago and watched the tennis before logging in so I’ve just discovered the sad news about Lurgan 53’s passing.
Having spent only a little time in the company of Dwyer and his good pal, Lurgan 57, I cannot claim to know the man well. I did find him easy company, well informed and not inclined to rash judgements. As a blogger, he was very good about gently disabusing Scottish based posters on the realities of life on the Island of Ireland, and, especially, those occupied counties.
I will let you into a secret about our shared admiration for Stephen McManus. Neither of us thought he was a particularly great player but we both admired his mental strength to have achieved what he did and to have captained Celtic at a young age through a fractious period when our support became a bit dissociated from the team and manager. We felt that Stephen was the subject of many cheap shots from the fans that he did not deserve and, time has shown, that some of the favoured replacements for his position have not proved to be any more superhuman than Big Mick was.
I will raise a glass in memory of a good lad. May his family and friends take strength from the life he led and enjoyed.
RIP Lurgan 53

Lennons Passion,
I get told stories from my wee da and his pals
that if there was not a Celtic game on
they would go and watch other teams on the lower divisions,
it seem this was very common, then people were interested in going to watch football.
Today there is sympathy with people who have a moral compass, especially when the poor put integrity above their own wellbeing.
Regardlss of whether they have competitive issues with us, we must encourage integrity.
T on bb3 noo
A few good going storms over those “celebrations of culture” tomorrow wouldn’t go amiss. I’ve heard these baton thingmy’s make excellent lightning conductors.
RIP Lurgan 53

Watched the TFPLG on ragers tv wearing ragers training gear ,with the ragers badge ,with five stars above it telling all the no one to followers how much they have been punished already
Lost our place in Europe for finishing 2nd (where do I start on that one )
fined
not allowed to sign players
I hope Hector has kept a copy (re address that bill )
I think that wee smug sarcastic show of defiance might come back to haunt the Gregg’s season ticket holder in the near future ,when he and others start screaming that the inept sfa can’t apply sanctions on them as the old bigoted hate filled corpse has been buried
C’mon Hector these snake oil salesmen can’t have it both ways they either are or they are not
get it sorted

McCulloch shows some punch
Rangers midfielder Lee McCulloch has revealed he has taken to the boxing ring in an attempt to help prolong his career.
The 34-year-old Scotland international was the first Rangers player to declare he would transfer his contract across to the newco club and he has started to enjoy sparring as a way of keeping in shape.
“Coming into the gym has mixed things up a bit and it makes a change from doing running all the time,” he told Rangers TV.
“I think the boxing training definitely helps. How things went for me last season isn’t totally down to that but it definitely allowed me to get back from injuries quicker.
“When people are looking to relax, they like to go home and take it easy but I like to try to get a wee bit fitter.
“I know I’m coming to the end of my career and I’ll do anything I can do to help myself stay fit or get back fit if I’m not.
“Some of the boys like to go golfing but I come here instead – and I really enjoy it. It’s really about fitness.”
The former Wigan midfielder joined boyhood club Rangers in 2007 and looks likely to remain at the club despite the uncertainty surrounding which division they will be playing in during the upcoming season.”

Have been to many events/games over the years mate. Travelled miles for testimonials still don’t get why we should give other teams money for doing what is right. Celtic will be the biggest finicial losers out of this. So any spare money I have will be getting spent on Celtic.
jc2 – aargh, no more please! But going to try those dips you recommended….

My good friend trains at the gym that Elbow’s is talking about.
My friend is a big supporter of the soon to be defunct club from south of the river.
Apparently McCulloch frequents the gym with the Messiesque John Fleck. My friend says that the pair of them come across as bigger neds than the 16 year old wanna be hard men who aspire to the two bears.

Agreed ,it would be great if any football fans could attend another ground even just once or twice ,It may help bring football fans of the bigger clubs back to the roots of the game .
IMO money is killing the game and players are getting way to much money for playing (total change from the old days ).
The doomsayers say we will have to downsize as we will not have the money we had before ,if that is the price we have to pay as a club then so be it ,we are asking smaller clubs to make( possibly ) greater sacrifices in the name of integrity .
IMO the focus of the the Scottish game should now be on ways to generate our own income and get away from any reliance on sky tv money .
we have had a bloody rude wake up call regards tv revenue ,we should never have been in a position of relying on it so much that the powers that be in the Scottish game would even contemplate what has gone on (although my personal paranoid view is that it would only have happened for one team and one team only)
If we can’t afford the so called bigger players then we will have to do without .
Think on this though .
could the celtic board have seen this day coming (settling juniniho’s ebt )and set about a strategy of building a better scouting network ,who in our current squad would we consider to be a great player when we first signed them .
If however we looked to sell 5 or 6 which we maybe could and still compete for the title ,how much could we achieve for these players .
I think the celtic board have planned ahead now the other spl clubs have to pan for the future and forget the past
hail hail
L57 – haven’t read back yet, but picked up the sad news re Dwyer, L53. I had hoped that he would come through the treatment, but he did say that his condition was quite aggressive.
He hoped to see his fellow Lurgan man lift the title and witness the demise of TFOD and thank God he got to see both of those historic events. My thoughts are with his wife and family tonight.
L53 – it really was 4-2-4 mate! God bless you.

My thoughts go out to those close to Lurgan, I didn’t know him but noticed his support of big Mick McManus when it wasn’t fashionable to see his attributes. May he rest in peace.
