Congratulations to Mark Schwarzer on His Free Transfer to Chelsea at 40 Yr s. of Age..

I Think he would have been a Fantastic signing for Celtic a Brilliant back up Keeper and Mentor to Fraser Foster..as well as Celtic young Aussie Tommy Rogic..

Zaluska will never be a Celtic No1 Keeper but maybe too good as a Number 2 so maybe a good move at this stage of his Career..

    ..

So Big Vic is Off..Wish him All the Very best and well done to Celtic and the scouts for Finding him ..See Rogic..AND Getting him to come to Celtic..And if rumours are correct of a sell on Clause 20% could earn Celtic FC a further 5-6 Million at least..

    12.5 Million to spend..Hmmmm

    Who would You buy..?

I Would Love to see a Big name Player come in maybe someone in the Twilight of their career..Like Anelka.? Pirlo..? Riquileme..? sorry for the Spelling..a Experienced Player with a Euro CV that Young players could learn from..is there another Lubo out there..

Celtic only really have Sammi and Broonie as the Olde heads in the Team and when they are Missing Celtic Suffer..

Who was the Old defender Brian Clough brought to Forrest..Foster..? with the Dodgy knees.. that type of Signing..Maybe Molouko can be that type of Signing..

Hearts: Joint £5m takeover bid for stricken club

It is understood that the takeover would include a move away from Tynecastle.

AN EDINBURGH shoe salesman has teamed up in a bid to buy Hearts with one of the men associated with a failed effort to take over Rangers last summer.

Bob Jamieson, who runs Kex Shoes Ltd, has joined forces with Jon Pritchard of Club 9 Sports, who was one of the key players in American businessman Bill Miller’s attempt to take control at Ibrox. Miller was named preferred bidder for Rangers before pulling out.

Jamieson, a former sponsor of Hearts, was involved in previous offers to buy the club both in 1999, when Chris Robinson was in control, and in 2011, when Vladimir Romanov first put it on the market. It is understood that Jamieson and Pritchard plan to move Hearts away from Tynecastle to an as-yet-unspecified site on the outskirts of Edinburgh.

Hearts administrators BDO have named Friday as the deadline for offers to buy Hearts. The united supporters’ group Foundation of Hearts will submit a bid before the deadline, and has consistently refused to say what value it is placing on the club, which is £25million in debt.

Last night business sources poured doubt on initial claims that the Jamieson-Pritchard offer would be for £5m. Analysts suggest that such a sum would most likely include an amount designed to bridge a funding gap for the first three years – possibly as much as £3m.

The Foundation remains confident that it can make a realistic offer for the club, and that it has both the capital to buy Hearts and the revenue to sustain it through its pledging system. Around 5,000 supporters have now taken out direct debits to help fund the club should the Foundation’s bid be successful.

The Foundation has had informal talks with other groups which have expressed an interest in buying into Hearts, notably the one fronted by former Scottish Rugby Union chief executive Gordon McKie. Last week, when the McKie group said it did not have the money to make an offer on its own, the Foundation said it would not seek a formal alliance.

Although there has been some contact between Foundation members and Jamieson, who has been a well-known face around Tynecastle for some time, the fans’ group is unsure of the businessman’s intentions. Officially they maintain their line of being willing to deal with all other parties for the greater good of the club, but in private they are unsure why a Hearts supporter should decide now to launch a bid against the expressed wishes of every organised group of fans – all of whom have been united in the Foundation for several months.

A major concern of the Foundation is that other potential purchasers might be more interested in the land that the football stadium is built on than in helping the club.

Although the current value of Tynecastle is estimated at between £4.5m and £5.5m – well down on its 2004 valuation of £20m-plus – a site so close to the city centre could still be attractive to investors who would not need an immediate return on their money.

The Foundation is aware that the main stand at Tynecastle, in particular, is in serious need of renovation. But they remain committed to keeping Hearts playing there, and appear suspicious of anyone who has not given a similar commitment. There were concerns that the McKie group also favoured a new out-of-city home for the club.

Jamieson is listed as the sole director of HMFC Ltd, which has its registered office at 33 Bothwell Street in Glasgow. The company was incorporated on 10 June this year.

According to credit agency records, since the late 1980s Jamieson has been the director of 21 other companies which were subsequently dissolved. They include Boroughmuir (Sales) Limited, Bush Beverages Limited, Internet TV Limited and Superpuck Ltd. Jamieson was unavailable for comment last night.

Purpose of the match for NFL would INCLUDE ..

    1) To improve fitness to nearer match fitness

    2) To learn about his players attitude, readiness, positional flexibility etc

    3) To learn about team shapes that suit some players but not others

    4) To learn about partnerships that work/don’t work

    5) To learn if anyone was capable of replacing Victor from his current squad

As Macjay said earlier, if the result was all important to NFL he would not have subbed Forster with Zaluska, Izzaguire with Waters, Virgil with Henderson, or Samaras with Atajic.

He will have no doubt learned much that will benefit us. EG He will have learned that we have no one in the current squad who is an effective replacement for Victor.

Better to learn that this week than next.

McGuinness thanks Celtic bosses as focus switches to Donegal

Jim McGuinness has paid tribute to his Celtic bosses Neil Lennon and Dermot Desmond for allowing him time to focus on Donegal’s push for a three-in-a-row.

    By Orla Bannon

Celtic manager Neil Lennon told McGuinness to take a few weeks off in order to fine-tune preparations for the Ulster final clash with Monaghan on Sunday week.

McGuinness revealed that when he returned to Glasgow the morning after his team’s Ulster semi-final win over Down, Lennon told him to “get the trophy back to Donegal”.

“It’s fantastic, obviously. Neil has played the game himself and he appreciates what we’re trying to do and where we’ve come from and now the chance we have to win three-in-a-row,” said Donegal’s All-Ireland winning manager.

“He (Lennon) knows what playing in a big game for his county means and it’s a great support to have.

“Everyone else at the club has been very supportive, asking what they can do to facilitate this and make it work.”

McGuinness has relished working in such a professional environment as Celtic and accepts that having employers from the same background has been of benefit.

“You’ve got the owner, Mr Desmond, an Irishman and the manager is an Irishman so that helps.

“They were both reared on GAA so they would be sympathetic to how we work and that has been a big, big plus for me.

McGuinness has transformed Donegal in two and a half years from also-rans to the team everyone must catch.

He has made his squad as professional as it can be, but admits there are times when he is frustrated with the mechanics of working within an amateur organisation.

“The GAA have made huge strides, but a soccer club like Celtic is professional from the top down.

“Everybody is inputting into their area to make the finished product the best it can be.

“The only time I get – not nervous – but apprehensive or frustrated going into a game is when I don’t feel the team is prepared to the level that’s required.

“Things like fixtures are made at the start of the year and everyone knows what’s coming down the track.

“There is no deviation from that, apart from a replay or something like that.

“Things like that leave it open to be more professional – better planning and people can adapt their schedules around that.”

McGuinness will travel to Belfast next week when Celtic are over for their Champions League qualifying tie against Cliftonville at Solitude.

The club’s development squad are also travelling over for a three-day training camp, but McGuinness’ attention will be on Donegal’s historic three-in-a-row bid.

McGuinness is confident Karl Lacey and Neil Gallagher will be fit to start the Ulster final after missing the Down win, while Mark McHugh and Frank McGlynn have also overcome injury concerns.

Although he has been around the country to watch a lot of matches this summer, the Donegal boss insists All-Ireland rivals Dublin, Kerry and Mayo are “not on his radar” at the moment.

“It’s fascinating going to the games and watching the other teams to see what they’re doing and how they’re doing it,” he added.

“But they aren’t really on our radar until they are our immediate opposition.”

  21. I missed the 1st half except for their 1st penalty and I wish I had also missed the 2nd.

Between injuries, an obvious lack of fitness, sharpness and desire and new signings that haven’t set the heather on fire, Neil has a lot to think about before the trip to Belfast.

The biggest headache will be the domain of Johan. The defence looked as if they had just been introduced to one another. The Germans used it like an autobahn racing through it at speed and will. Memories, more like nightmares, of the sieve are rife.

I trust that Neil and Johan will have it sorted before next week and they will be as solid as a Rangers investors brain.

Maybe we should have resisted the temptation to swap venues and gone all out to end the tie at Celtic Park in the first leg.

    KTF I tell myself continually.

  22. I’m sorry but the thought of Beram Kayal as a replacement for Vic fills me with dread.

I can fully understand the player staking a claim but surely Lenny has other options up his sleeve and an experienced and classy replacement will already have been identified and lined up.

    Surely.

  23. Tom/summi, good bit of transfer businesss by Celtic PLC

unfortunly the team on the park is celtic FC, neil will be lucky to see 4 miliion of that to buy new players. 4 million to plug a midfield, which has hole as wide as the grandcanyon, waiting to see how that nagic will work

me, i would have prefered to see big vic with us and we try to assault the CL

4million is no good to our team

…………….reading back I cannot believe the amount of fannies on here(load of new names too)

who give our club pelters ,’Teams sit back and wait for us to make mistakes’

Obviously Barcelona made a mess of it by attacking Celtic from the off.

  25. Kayal is clearly a confidence player, lenny saying last week he thinks kayal can replace big vic if he needs too was just trying to get kayals confidece up in the hope he performs better.

He is a player we need and will get profit on eventually but no way can he fill big vic’s void.

Gutted we are losing the big mham to a team like southampton.

  26. twists n turns on

Scottish football’s record transfer is set to be completed on Wednesday with Victor Wanyama poised to finalise a stunning £12.5million move to Southampton.

The Kenya international midfielder was due to start the Parkhead club’s thumping 6-2 friendly defeat to German Second Division side Greuther Firth on Tuesday night but it is understood he remained behind at the club’s training base on the outskirts of Munich as talks with the Premier League side moved towards a conclusion.

The bumper fee offered by Saints had already been accepted by Celtic previously, before the deal broke down due to personal terms being rejected by Wanyama and his agents.

But if the big money move goes through today, as expected, the Wanyama deal would break the previous record for a transfer by a Scottish club, the £9.5million paid by Spartak Moscow for Celtic and Ireland winger Aiden McGeady in 2010.

And to get that kind of fee for a player they landed from Belgian side Germinal Beerschot in 2011 for just £900,000 represents the coup de grace for Celtic’s policy of scouting talented up-and-coming but little known young talents.

But while the loss of Wanyama would be a financial boost, with the money set to be reinvested in a replacement and fresh contracts for remaining stars, the 22-year-old’s name now looks to be added to a lengthy injury list for the Scottish Champions ahead of their visit to Belfast to play Cliftonville next Wednesday.

Captain Scott Brown is a doubt for the game against the Northern Irish champions, as is Joe Ledley, Adam Matthews and want away striker Gary Hooper, while Virgil van Dijk and Charlie Mulgrew picked up fresh injuries in last night’s 6-2 thumping. Striker Tony Watt has been sent home from Germany with a back strain, while Efe Ambrose will be too late back from international duty with Nigeria to play his part.

Lennon said: ‘It’s a concern because I don’t know what team I’m going to have available for next week. If Scott Brown comes through the next couple of days he may get a run out against Union Berlin on Friday.

‘But Joe and Adam are going to struggle. We would have to see where they are but it would be debatable whether we would throw them into a game

‘Hoops has got a groin strain so I don’t know how long he is going to be out.

‘Efe’s not back until the 15th because he didn’t finish international duty until late June. We knew he wouldn’t be involved on this trip and that he wouldn’t be involved for the first game. And Tony Watt has a back strain and we’ve sent him home to get it looked at.

‘So that’s where we are. We are stretched and it’s a concern because everything is taking its toll and we’ve still got another pre-season friendly to come on Friday in Berlin.’

But Lennon is hoping to finalise a deal for former Wolves defender Steven Mouyokolo today, after agreeing a one-year deal for the Frenchman, pending results of a medical.

    Rogic;

    Stokes, Samaras

Quiz question, have Celtic ever lined up with seven defensive players in a line up? Friendly or competitive game?

To play with seven defensive players and lose 6 goals cant be right, were we too cavilier last night in only playing seven defensive players?

Lennonaccio is good against Barcelona and the like but he has got to open up in non Champions League games, try to play football, entertain and old fashioned stuff like that.
