  1. We shouldn’t have to sell any of our players to finance quality additions to the squad. How much did me make from the CL? Also if as predicted big Virgil is sold for 60 – 70 million we stand to pocket 10% of that so there is most of Paddy’s transfer fee just about sorted in one go – I hope. Some players may wish to leave such as Moussa, some may have no future under Brendan – Eric S but having to sell anyone just to finance squad additions would be unpalatable.

  2. Oh well, at least we won’t be wondering in 30 games time what if

After 69 games we were due a horror show, I always thought it would come after a 5 minute red card and some interesting refereeing decisions. Get through to the 30th, hump the Huns and then enjoy a week on the beach and get going again

  3. When I was a boy in Coatbridge in 1961 or 62…I delivered papers for Mr Carlin. If WE lost on Saturday well the Sunday papers would not sell…no body wants to read bad news. Me too. So I’m off until Wednesday.

  4. On the subject of both centre backs needing replacing.i disagree.

The problem with our backline is a lack of leadership.

We need a Tony Adams kind of guy who designates responsibility to the appropriate guy.

To often both centre half go to the same area.

Ballwatching is an issue as is an inability to hold a straight line.

Today a leader would have pushed the defense higher leaving Gordon to sweep up long ball.

Can’t blame Gordon for penalty as he had to come.Guy got lucky as he got clipped by Craig as ball was going out.Craig looked like he pulled back but did trip guy.

He was slow getting down to Lafferty’s shot but not as culpable as some are suggesting..

His kicking is not the best but today no-one showed for outcall so conceding possession was going to happen.

We are not well set up for outcall and it’s causing hesitancy in some players.

  5. one defeat in 70 games suggests we don’t need many new faces. We’ve quite a few players who are out of form, Give them a chance to regain it

Always nice to here the views of our magnificent away fans, lets hope

our home support get up aff their erse’s on Wednesday night …turn up

    and get behind the team.

  9. Afternoon all

An afternoon that was as unexpected as it was disappointing. We have looked a lot more vulnerable this season as long ago as the home game with St Johnstone and this defeat is probably overdue but we usually play well at Tyney. Not today and Hearts were more than worthy winners.

Brendan has a lot more work to do than I or I suspect he thought he would this season which could just blow up in our faces. I hope not.

The 69? An historic lot of fun just wish it had not ended like it did.

  10. Well the argument against the run being a millstone is no longer there .

We need a big performance against Thistle on Wednesday to put out a statement.

    oh..and Start with Moussa..always

  11. A massive congratulations to Brendan and the team for giving us such an amazing gift in our Invincible unbeaten record. A record that each and everyone of us has been here to witness. It was just an amazing triumph.

Sadly someone had to break it and as it occurred it required one really bad team performance and another team playing well above their normal performance.

Brilliant words for Brendan after the game and he said everything that needed to be said. A man so proud of his team and their efforts.

And as he also said the RESET button is now hit and the team will now go out with the pain of that defeat knowing they do not want to feel that again.

Gathering the team in a huddle after game was a great touch and will prove to be a master stroke showing his team so much respect for what they have achieved for themselves, the support and the club.

It really wouldn’t surprise me if we now go on and win every game domestically between now and the end of the season backed up with a semi final minimum in EL.

I’m not going to comment on the performance or the players. They deserve a little grace and respect for the experience they have given us fans.

    Onwards and upwards.

Good for you wee man, first stage to solving any problem is admittance.

  13. Is it possible to be sickened and heartened at the same time I wonder????/

    I am.

To be fair, that loss was coming and really, it’s no big deal. We all knew the run would end and now it has. We have to deal with it. We can start again, fresh and hungry and I have no doubt we will win the league at a canter.

I thought Brendan’s comments at the end of the game were pure class, the guy is amazing and we are so lucky to have him at the helm. Brilliant record has come to an end , but , what a record, eh. Congratulations to all at CELTIC and a huge huge thank you to all.

I’m guessing that’s why we’re bringing in Marvin C, although him being cup tied for the EL does seem a bit strange..

Hello this is WEE BGFC. Dont be so grumpy Madmitch. Thats probably the best run we’ll ever have! Be more grateful for the love of God. Always look on the bright side if life! Brendans the man, he’ll sort it out! Need a big German centre back to steady the ship. As long as we win the league! Thank so much for the run bhoys!

  17. BR knows more than anyone where the problems are within the team , he will get it sorted in BR we trust.

  18. Go tell the Spartim on

BR can only take some of our squad so far

We all know where our issues lie, let him build from a position of strength.

Hopefully more than one CB from Santa, unfortunately I think BR rates CG ( good at shot stopping of that there’s no doubt, but cack at corners and crosses, not interested at penalties, questionable with the ball at his feet but the clincher for me is his decision making, it’s rarely the right decision)

Defence is the one part of the team where he’s not invested, not first picks, so give him the chance, though please not a lover type signing

You don’t need me to tell you what a smashing fella Franny was,but anyway…

One of our esteemed posters on here,RWE,his lad had been diagnosed with MND. Aye,that. Kills you bit by bit,and nothing you can do except hope that your loved ones will help you deal with it.

Franny asked Bertie Auld-whose best mate,Jinky, died from the same disease-to contact him, cheer him up.

Neither Bertie nor Franny knew this young fella in USA,but each went out their way to ease his days.

If rumours are to be believed all 3 of our cb’s want to go (perhaps this led to BR’s barbed comments about players thinking they are better than they are) I wouldn’t be upset if this was the case

  23. PeterLatchfordsBelly on

Thanks for the run lads. Never see it again. Pathetic today, memories of Dundee 1980. The team is mentally & physically spent. Can only lift yourselves so many times. Desperately in need of winter break and a couple of fresh faces, especially in defence. BR has it in hand. In Brendan we trust.

Take care of our home games before the break and we’re in good shape. But not confident on current form, which is worrying. League is getting better and other managers working us out tactically. All our game changers less effective this season, Moussa, Paddy, Armstrong, even Scotty.

Don’t care about Zenit. Ten in a row the priority.

    Hail hail.

One mistake? Ffs,Big Billy would have been binned after the AC Milan game in 69.

We had a great ten minutes today, then we got hammered. I’m disappointed,so are you,but heyho.

  25. This team needs a hard nails, tackling, passing and moving, rampaging, orceating midfielder to take the game by the scruff of the neck and drive the team on with Broonie and ON in my humble opinion…

  26. Lot of scapegoats today.

    Personally I blame SOAL.

How many birthdays have there been over those 69 games and every birthdaybhoy and ghirl have delivered a result, yet he decides to be 50 and it all falls to bits!

Despite today I hope you have had a great time SOAL!

    ================

Well I for one hope it is true. Jozo is far too injury prone, Boyata is no better than Effe, imo, and gets half the grief the big Nigerian used to as for Sviatchenko he can’t even get into the squad when he is fit. Happily see all 3 depart if replaced by better players.

  28. theBHOYfromU.N.C.L.E on

Would rather lose our unbeaten run in this manner (being outplayed) than being cheated by a dodgy late decision having dominated. Also brings to an end us scoring in every away match……..save it for when it counts.

  29. Calum McGregor is a neat and tidy player but today was not a game for him.

He is skilled but can’t tackle and in a battle like today was ineffective .

I have seen it posted on here that he never gives the ball away.Others say he gives ball away to often.

    Truth is somewhere between.

Today playing him showed a lack of pragmatism as it was always going to be a physical game on a bumpy tight pitch.

  30. To Brendan and the Bhoys.

    Congratulations on the invincible run.

We probably won’t see a run like it again in my lifetime.

    The King is dead.

    Long live the King.

Martin O’Neill once said, that it’s how you respond to losing that matters.

Our league form has been mediocre this season .

We drop points roughly every 3rd match.

Decent winning runs have not featured.

European football has highlighted our weaknesses.

Lately we have looked like losing at least a couple of goals per match.

Motherwell ,Hibs ,and Hearts today have exposed us.

Hamilton scored 1 and missed 2 absolute sitters on Wednesday.

I started to have concerns that we lacked physicality away to Motherwell.

We miss a Wanyama / Roy Aitken type in the middle of the park.

    Today we were bullied again.

Without a fit Patrick Roberts we also lack a game changer .

Sinclair is doing his best ,but it is unrealistic that he can work miracles every match.

Despite their perilous financial situation, the Darnel outspent us in the summer.

Brendan has to solve our Centre forward situation.

Dembele isn’t fit often enough ,and I feel that he will be off the first decent offer we receive.

Griff seems to be continually having to be kept in line ,and dropped in and out of the team.

Edouard showed great promise with his recent hat trick.I do not think that we can rely on him to score 25 to 30 goals a season.

He is not a natural goal scorer.

The biggest issue for me however is that managers have worked out how we play.

Pressing us high up the pitch, squeezing Scott Brown ( who has been amazing) stagnates our play.

At times the build up from the back is slow and cumbersome.

Sideways passing ,backwards passing ,and teams get too much time to get back behind the ball.

If the opposition have a decent finisher we are in trouble because we are exposed ,due to our fullbacks pushing up.

Against Motherwell and Hamilton both teams played right through us without a tackle being made.

Rogic backing out of tackles at Fir Park ,Armstrong backing off on the touch line at a shy from a wee elbow.

All examples of a lack of fight and physicality.

I’m not in the Madmitch corner that we need a total clearout.

However I do feel that we need to look to improve on tactics and personnel in certain positions.

Is Brendan willing to change when required ,and will the board back him?

We are not even investing in players following the Macawber principal.

    We are hoarding money .

Make no bones about it .

    Our invincibility has been exposed.

It’s all about how the club reacts.

Bounce back ability, not complacency is required.

    =======================================

    Not a chance.

    This is what will happen:

An apathetic smaller crowd will turn up.

An audible, feeling enfranchised by today’s reverse, clarion of trumpets will seize on any player who makes a perceived mistake *

Some players won’t even have to make a mistake to get “it”. Both CB’s today and our goalie are prime candidates for this “support”.

The crowd will start to leave at 75 minutes, irrespective of scoreline. If it’s a reverse or customers aren’t fully satisfied then levels of moaning will commence.

CQN will be quiet as there’s no The Rangers to see on TV. Unless like today of course we get beaten then (like today) it’ll be buzzing and Neganon2 will post.

*”mistake”: the definition of this term has grown as Celtic’s record grew and more was demanded. On Wednesday an overweighted ball was a seized on as a “mistake”. Nowadays a perceived error (albeit preposterous connivance) to highlight a mistake is, well, a “mistake” too.

See Craig Gordon’s “mistake” of letting a trundler by him today as an example .
