Who could have known that boyatta would decline to sign?

Who had seen that his agent was kinda pushy?

Who had seen him play competently in s way that would look impressive in a good Belgian team?

Who knew that Belgium would likely go far and long in the World Cup?

Who knew that the CL qualifiers were more and earlier amthan ever?

Who knew that Jozo wasn’t 100% dependable in terms of fitness, form and long term future at the club?

Who knew that Compere will never compere our defence?

Who knew that this left us with only 2 rookie centre halves?

Every Celtic man, wummin, child and dug for the last 6 months!

Who is going to buy Boyata, then realise ‘holy shit, he looked better playing for Belgium?’

    Nothing like forward planning, eh.

Watching MOTD Highlights. Ryan Fraser looks to be an improving clever wee player at Bournemouth. Good news for Scotland.

  3. Gerryfae the brig. We all like to dream

Read back about a month, you’ll see a number of posters pointing out defensive frailties and lack of cover.

Nails the theory that PL reads these pages.

Not really, just nails the theory that he CGAF.

Not sure that I would agree that Brendan Rodgers wouldn’t get the £9 million to spend from a Boyata transfer – but he would need to spend it on more than one player.

Did we miss out on a centre back transfer target? – I saw that the Anderlecht guy Derdonker(?) got a mention at some point?

    ——-

    Anyone who buys him!!!!!

My personal caveat would be I don’t think he’s either bad or as good as some would have you believe. Great physical attributes. Not always matched by concentration and an occasional dodgy pass out from the back.

ie exactly the same as many of the £10-20m defenders I watched on MOTD last night!

  7. Paul do us a favour, ban all blogs that have not a good word to say about Celtic Football Club,is Manager,Lawell , Players going on Strike, this is Traynor and co,stirring it ,this John McGinn and Brendan Rodgers,Peter Lawell saga needs to stop, but Brendan didn’t do the club any favours,by publicly critizing the board on the players he wanted, then yesterday result didn’t go down to well either,Bhoys we have played 2 games in the league, and you would have thought the world had caved in on us, Heart’s AEK,a draw a win,you would have thought they won the League,or the Champions league, that says it all,we are a big scalp, and feared,at the end of the day we will be in the front line make no mistake about that, also I would like to see us being a bit agresive, when we play teams like Hearts,

  8. Seriously, is the standard of centre backs that poor and the market that high, that we can’t sign someone decent for circa £4M?

I honestly can’t believe that Fulham were willing to spend £9M on Boyata. He’s decent in the air, has very good pace but has a high percentage of misplaced passes.

I’d take a Mjallby type player over him any day.

  9. Not sure if I can claim this as a scoop but Tuesday’s AEK Athens game is apparently on BT Sport 2. Which is nice.

  10. Jobo

Really down after that carry on at swine castle. Apart from the manner of defeat, is was the way we were verbally and physically treated by their players and of course the lack of protection from officials. Ithat level of violence/abuse against Celtic players is becoming the norm then I WANT AN ENFORCER in the team. That kind of behaviour to any member of the public would have resulted in a charge.

Anyway on another note, i met Izzy and his family at the Blythswood Hotel last night and welcomed him back, cheered me up a wee bit!.

  13. Whatever hearts were playing it wasnt football. I almost feel sorry for the jambos if they have to watch that stuff every week….and…they should have been handed a couple of red cards at the very least.

But Celtic were poor with certain players way way off the pace. Team selection was not what was required to combat the crude rugby-style tactics we all knew would be employed against us.

But theres plenty of time to get things back on track so its next stop Athens.

  14. Sydney

So if we had sold boyata it’s PL fault as he didn’t back BR.

BR wants boyata and we play hardball and it turns out boyata’s no interested. PL’s fault.

boyata wants away – not really surprising as Scotland/Celtic Park seem to be the place he is rated least. That will be PL’s fault?

  15. NEIL LENNON……. WANTS TO BUY SCOTT ALLAN

How does anyone feel this will go down , its business just

do it , or , will it be more of a saga ?

  16. There’s only one way to fix this situation and that is to give Brendan 6,7, 8, 9 million whatever it takes for him to go and buy a centre half that he wants to build his defence round, a leader on the park and a leader in the dressing room.

As we saw yesterday we don’t have enough leaders on the park, the sight of Naismith standing over Johnny Hayes will long live in my memory, now I’m not asking for Celtic players to get red carded but no one, no one in our team even let that wee rat know he was in a game.

Once one team thinks they can intimidate us they all will..

By the way if Lee Congerton can’t find us a player get him tae f**k and find a scout who can..

    STARRYPLOUGH

IIRC,when John Kennedy was maimed, his “team-mates” were slaughtered on here for their lack of interest.

    Same yesterday. Shocking stuff.

  18. QF. We should not be in this position. PL has stopped any money being spent

    He is gambling again

It is indeed a strange situation BR seems to not be able to spot a CH

    Boyata is poor

  19. BGFC and WGFC, never met either of you but you come across on here as great bhoys from a great family.

Take care and ignore the smart arses, they haven’t got a clue what you guys have.

As Billy Stark said of his great friend “family, faith and football”!

God bless and well done WGFC with those exam results.

KTF and god Bless the Celtic!

  20. Naismith looks like another one trying to work his ticket back to Ibrox. The way he was screaming at Hendry in the last minutes after a challenge which saw the youngster booked was pure playing to the masses impressed by such behaviour.

Hopefully, Karma will have it’s day with him, and “what goes around, comes around” rings true in his case.

  21. STARRY PLOUGH

I think Jack Hendry tried to leave the boot in or at least tried to clear both Naismith and the ball out near the end , the result was he did neither and Naismith just sarcastically laughed in Hendrys face , summed up the day for me .

  22. It’s as well yellow cards weren’t around when I played rugby cos I would have picked up a few!

And these would have been red in the round call game.

One principle remains though. You look after your own.

I actually think Broonie’s captaincy is marked by a distinct lack of nipping the ref’s ear, whether in response to fouls on himself or others. Lustig will moan but is too gentle in the tackle to afford physical retribution. Big Ajer is actually one of the most vocal in defence of his team mates.

Lafferty and Naismith. We know the score before taking pitch. Therefore we should also be planning on evening the score. Share the yellows, share the retribution.

And no wee orange pr1ck should ever be allowed to stand over an (apparently badly) injured Celtic player, especially not one who’s just back from a leg break.

Bit more fight in my Fightin’ Irish please.

  23. Starry.

Do you think that has not happened? My reading of the situation is that BR has looked at what is out there and the cost. Then balanced the cost of keeping boyata and decided boyata!!

perhaps the boyata situation has helped some of the boyata/PL detractors see that real life is a bit more complicated than blog life. “Even boyata thinks he’s too good for Celtic” see what I mean. Maybe he’s as good as anything we can attracted. Might be the depressing truth!

  24. BOBBY MURDOCH’S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS

As Alan Stubbs said during the week, the Morelos rescind has created a grey area now in football and we saw that clearly yesterday when Naismith kicked out out at Hayes, nothing was done.

The scum mauled us yesterday and though we didn’t play well we were never going to get going under those circumstances where Beaton let so many things go.

In any other league in the world The Scum would have ended up with 7/8 player on the field.

Distressing for us and for the manager to see his players afforded no protection.

I think he did the right thing changing the team even though it cost us the points.

Now with the Boyata I’m no playin’ Anthen is looking like an uphill struggle:((

    Whit a feckin’ week..

celticbynumbers – any thoughts on the fouls by hearts yesterday? – will be interesting to a comparison of lunges in the first 20 minutes when they play against others

Ima actually sitting beside a senior referee,as I was yesterday watching the game. He said the same thing. Referees have seen the precedent, and the writing on the wall.

There’s the top money, son. Play by these new rules or be downgraded.

  27. wasn’t going to comment for a few days at least after yesterday but have to agree 100% with STARRY PLOUGH we have a lack of leaders on the pitch, I was trying to get in through the tv at the site of that runt naismith standing over Johnny Hayes AFTER kicking him twice on the ground.

We need good technical skilfull footballers but you gotta have the physical mentality to compete first. hearts bullied us as they always try to. it’s not rocket science

  28. Forget yesterday. Not a great shock. We had half a team missingGet Boyatta on a plane to Spain ASAP.Get in a CH who will put the likes of the scum we played yesterday in their place.Enough ball players in our team.

SMSM luvin it.Reports on how well Mc Ginn played all over their rags.Scum across the city thinking this is their big chance.

Tuesday, give it everything, and see where it takes us.As long as we do our best.8 in a row is coming.Have no doubts.A bit of unity needed.Enough back biting.

  29. Fourstonecoppi……….The Marooners would have been more at home up the road in Murrayfield yesterday with the roughhouse tactics they got away with. That will be put right when they come to Celtic Park.

  30. STARRY,

What annoyed me most was KT standing talking and smiling with the reptile as oneof our players was on the deck getting treatment.
