    @@@@@@@@@

Sorry pal , I don’t share your change of heart regards Callum mc , no doubt he has ability ,no doubt he has found the way to sevcos goal , but when the going gets rough he seems to drop out of games . But IMHO he is not alone , imagine Naismith sticking the boot in , hearts yesterday bullied us, as they did the 4-0 game as well . We have some cracking players ,but we don’t have many tough guys who can mix it ,and as far as I,m concerned we need that in the team , we play that mob in a few weeks ,we will have to battle for the points that day , the scouser has bought big big guys at the back and in midfield ,they are ready to battle . We need new quality players brought in , experienced guys who won’t be pushed around , and we need them now . If boyata isn’t, going to resign for us , then don’t let him run down his contract , get the money for him , the commper guy ,pay him off ,get rid ,a total waste of money . But we need replacements in , and please be patient with our young bhoys at the back ,they are not ready ,but they will come . But again , only MY OPINION.

    STARRYPLOUGH

IIRC,when John Kennedy was maimed, his “team-mates” were slaughtered on here for their lack of interest.

    Same yesterday. Shocking stuff.

    ————————————————————————————————————————————

I remember it was a meaningless friendly against Romania. Kennedy was desperate to make his Scotland debut, against the wishes of MO’N.

The thug who crippled him, Ionel Ganea, was playing for Wolves at the time, and one of his club teamates at the time was ex-Jambo Colin Cameron who came out, publically, and basically exonerated him for what he had done. Cameron played in that game and saw the extent of the damage that had been caused.

    Which brings me on to…

…oh for a Bertie Auld, Davie Hay, Jim Brogan, Roy Aitken (sorry to bring back memories!), Mick McCarthy, Paul Elliot, Bobo Balde type into the current Celtic side!

    HH!!

    Here’s a wee example

    January recruitment

    Hendry and Commper

Hendry is now worth £4m and we paid £2m for the pair.

You need to kiss a few frogs but that’s a better return than a hotel or a stadium.

Suppose it depends on your coach/ managers willingness to trade. If you trade and coach properly the returns are worth it.

If Lawwell is risk analysing our chances of making the Champions League and goes to Rodgers and says there’s a 50% chance we won’t make it and the two then agree they sign players first with the caveat they will sell a player such as Dembele I believe this is the right way to about it.

The English transfer window closing early has been a hinderence

Strong possibility that Mags would explain himself if he were allowed to. I think he has seen another red card.

I had a wry smile listening to the words of Jesus in The Gospel according to Saint John, at Mass this morning. He told the Jews to stop mumuring amongst themselves. Made me think of CQN. :))

  6. Excellent interview with the amazing Sachin Tendulkar on the level of preparation he would go to before every match taking into account the opposition and conditions and how he would vary his style of play accordingly. Hh

I’m always reminded of Charlton’s Eire team. A team so consistently basic that it presented challenges to other’s simply not used to anything remotely like it.

Thanks for the heads-up on the MARKNJ article

An excellent read. Of course,he only covers the last 15 years-I could go back another thirty or so,and the likes of my Dad and yourself thirty more!

I left a reply on there,it’s “awaiting moderation” as I suspect many more are.

    Self-indulgently…

    Mark,

Excellent analysis of the period. Failure to strengthen is in with the bricks at CP,sadly.

One caveat though-the club HAS spent significant money over the years. Too little has been spent wisely. Yes,mistakes happen, but they should not be nailed-on certainties as far too many have been.

Gambling on CL qualification and getting it wrong costs us maybe £30m a season. I think we have got it wrong SIX TIMES at least.

Buying the likes of Pukki,Amido,Bangura,Ciftci-that’s only four from a long long list-cost us another £50m at least in fees and wages.

Ffs,we even had to pay loyalty clauses to some of the dreck who hung around long enough.

PL should stick to what he is good at-negotiating commercial contracts. Because he’s rubbish at Football Manager.

  9. Mullet my man!

If Any club in the world wanted to pay £4M for Hendry we should take it pronto !

Then we shed take of the masks!

The Young Sachin in his early years was an incredible positive role model for any aspiring young sports professional.

  11. I would find it difficult to “support” a Celtic player who behaved towards opponents the way Naismith conducts himself against us.

Horrible human being. Does he have kids ? Would he be proud to show them that sort of behaviour ?

    I wouldn’t.

  12. Nye Bevans' rebel soldier on

I think we’re paying too much attention on our problems in

defence, we didn’t score yesterday and we failed to find the net

in a good few games last season.

I know sides are set out to frustrate us but we need to be a lot more

clinical, score our way out of trouble, not be the first Celtic side to

    do that.

I think that Naismith and Lafferty were auditioning for a return to Ibrox during yesterday’s match. Pair of thugs and cowards.

  18. A poster yesterday spoke of how we rested players in early league games last year and got away with it by getting a few breaks at Firhill and Rugby Park. It is true.

Yesterday we didn’t get the breaks vs Hearts thugs.

Last year we had striker, center back and injury and transfer deadline issues when trying to qualify. Home drawn games too.

We can win in Athens and the Sevco Stevie G love in might grind to a halt with defeats in Maribor and on the Killie field of plastic next week.

  19. An Tearmann and anyone else interested.

Luke Donnelly scored an absolute peach for Stranraer yesterday.

The goal is on Twitter, I found it on Tellhimhespele site.

Yes mate. But how much consolation did you take when they cheat, and win, and throw their ill gotten gains in your face ?

It’s a curious social phenomenon “how” and “why” they can gain satisfaction from cheating, it is after all a sport.

Imagine the personal satisfaction boxing and pulling out a hammer to knock your opponent out ?

    My haw-maws would shrivel.

Re the beer let me know when your here. I’ll look forward to it and try and drag PARK ROAD 67 along.

Celtic centre half. Quick. Scotland International.

    Signed for £1m

Check the list of players and values transferred in England.

    The Boys just turned 23.

Joe Bryan a Bristol City left back joined Fulham for £6m

Aiden Flint went to middleborough for £7m he’s 29 and a centre back who played again for Bristol. I think £4m would be fair for Hendry aye.

    AYE!!

A coupla years back,David Hay guested on here. I think it was the real one! I asked him one question, his reply was outstanding.

    *

Q-when you and Bertie tackled each other in training, who won-and who knew, since everyone would shut their eyes?!

A-Bertie and I weren’t allowed to tackle each other in training.

    *

    So,aye indeed

Btw,for all the Roy Aitken hardman stuff,I don’t recall him ever injuring a player who missed even the next game as a result. Probably wrong.

Make sure Boyata gets fined before getting rid of him

    ====================================================

Possibly, and certainly recently, we have had to contend with this public affair. The club could be brave and set a marker. Then again there’s a lot of money at stake ?

  26. mullet and co 2 on

Sell to England don’t buy from England. Loan from England now and again.

We should see ourselves like Aldi. Not so cheap though that we are being daft. Hubs and Dundee were well within their rights to wait for top money for their players we collectively under sell Scottish football. You can get the same thing from us a wee bit cheaper but but we never ever buy in their shop. You get the same thing at a cut price elsewhere.

  27. Not feeling any better this morning, not so much about getting beaten ,more about the antics of Naismith and Lafferty,I pay money to watch football ,not to provide a platform for unbridled hatred.

Reading back,I thought Hendry worked well, and will get better,I thought Jonny Hayes never hid, despite having had a leg break previously,Kouassi will not do at all, needs too much time,Scott Sinclair will not recover his initial form.

I read previously that the ex Killie midfielder Mulumba was available,we could do worse than sign him, among best I seen last year.

Boyata appears to have let BR down, after he went in to support for him,by not playing that in my view is a breach of Contract. we should get rid now as his attitude, if playing, will be flawed.

PS. Can we knock off the McGinn articles and triumphalistic quotes, he is a contributory part of the worst period in the last 2yrs and I for one dont need it pushed down my throat when I log on.

And I know Kilwinning can’t,they struggle wi me for a few weeks a year.

    EXCATHEDRA

I was very supportive of EK yesterday,he covered every yard, broke up a lot of their play. But,yes,he was too keen to take a second touch, and his distribution was poor.

He actually looks similar in style to Neil Lennon,he can read the game well enough to be in position to break down attacks. What he lacks is the nous for a simple five yard pass-or maybe a midfield partner within five yards!-and the speed of thought and feet to get rid asap against hammer throwers.

Btw,he had at least two players closing him down yesterday.

    All day long.

We had one man up fron against their four.

What did our midfielders do with that extra manpower?

Came deep, passed the ball backwards, got blootert from backtracking Hearts forwards.

    All day long.

But Kouassi was to blame for yesterday’s fiasco?

Sorry,I’m not having that. His experienced colleagues let us down badly. He didn’t.

  30. BMCUW. how was Chelmsford bobby, hope you enjoyed deepest Essex. used to pick up in southend many moons ago.hh.

  31. When we need him most it would appear Boyata is refusing to play for the team.Time to get rid of him ASAP.9 to 10 million for a player whose career was going nowhere until he joined Celtic would be a great piece of business. Some players become better players when they are not in the team ie,Kouassi who offered very little yesterday and after 18 months at the club is looking a very poor buy.Celtics defence being bullied by a striker brought in from an English League Championship 2 club is really the limit. No one stood up to him or Naismith yesterday. We definitely do not have the strength in depth we think we have,I get the the impression Broony is not fully fit but we have no one who can step in and give him a rest.Time for board and manager to settle their differences for the good of the club.

  32. Delaneys,

I said earlier I thought Naismith was working his ticket, and trying to walk back, after walking away ?

    Big Cup Winners,

No consolation at all. That said, I’m sure neither you nor I, or anyone else on here would suggest that we should fight fire with fire. I’d rather not win than win by cheating, or deception.
