    Can I ask you a question :-)

    My “place” ?

    Coatbrig or Tenerife :-)

Even though not interested in EPL I think Liverpool might run Citeh close, good to see Celtic reject Andy Robertson doing so well… the wee mhan should be an inspiration to any young footballer who doesn’t make the grade at 16 :-)

Bloody excellent,me oul’ china. Actually came back wi more whisky than I arrived with!

My mate’s Glenfarclas 105 and my Glenfiddich Solera got a doing late on,usual rules are bottles are left. This time I got a kerry-oot.

Neil said-oh,meant to tell you, that Glenfarclas is your pressie from our latest Florida trip

Well,of course I was grateful. But I couldn’t help wishing he’d told me half a bottle earlier!

(Took us back to an unscheduled early Sunday visit to a pub in Morningside about 83. Mail you that one later!)

Btw,next time we are on the telly, get the dog-clippers out. Yer a f…… jinx(!)

  3. The original Ronaldo is currently in the intensive care unit of a hospital in Ibiza after contracting pneumonia.

Hopefully he will make a full recovery.

  4. The Boyata situation is all thats wrong with modern day football. We took a player struggling at a big club, we gave him a chance, boosted his confidence by playing him regularly. So much so that hes back in his national team and at the World Cup.

None of this would have happened had BR to took a gamble and had patience with him.

So he had an average world cup and managed 3 games without a major slip up. All of a sudden he thinks he’s the next Kompany (who he couldn’t lace the boots of btw).

I hope I never see him in the Hoops again. Rat.

    Gutter Journalism

The Sunday Times Scottish edition has a front page headline “Celtic Star’s Two Year rape Ordeal”.

The “Celtic star” in question, whom I shall not name, was a 20 year old who had never actually played a first team game and who apparently turned down a big future at Celtic in order to pursue a place at an American university. I don’t know about whether he even signed for Celtic.

The story the went on to name the boy and say that he had been accused of rape and was now free to return from the states.

Appaling headline and and, in my opinion, a bad thing to name the boy concerned when he has not been found guilty of any crime.

  9. DD and Ziggy

Poor show if we need Broonie to play with an injury at the start of the season because we have no one on the books to play his role!

He’s a professional footballer whose allegiance is to his next big contract. At 27,it is likely to be his last.

Sign a five year deal with us,maybe £5m and a pay cut every year after that.

Three year deal down South,£10m,huge signing on fee,one last hurrah after that at 30

Yes,he might well owe all of those mibbes to Celtic. But if Celtic matched the offers he expects,he would sign for us again.

We won’t,he won’t,goodbye. Both parties have protected their own interests.

I don’t have a problem with any of that. What I do have a problem with is him feigning injury and not making himself available to play. As someone said, he’d have been available for Fulham, you bet he would.

He could have just been straight and said, look I’m not signing a new contract, we both know I can get a better deal down south. So sell me and make some money too. If you dont, I’ll still play but I’m off for nothing when my contracts up.

  15. Delaneys Dunky on

    BCW

Thanks for confirmation. Impossible to play above 60% effectiveness with an achilles injury. Sadly we cannot trust an inexperienced Kouassi to step up and play beside Olly, without SB beside them.

Your ” not having it” ?

I did not say Kouassi was to blame for yesterday, that is your interpretation.

He was however very poor,( in my view ) irrespective of how many people he had against him.

Of course some of his more experienced colleagues were poor, but I had high hopes his fresh legs and opportunity to stake a place would have shone through,it did not.

  18. DD

I thought that too about Kouassi, even last Saturday against Livi. We shouldn’t need SB to beat them at Celtic Park.

Apart from the Bigotdome, Swinecastle is our toughest away game. A bit harsh to throw someone in there for their first start of the season.

!!BADA BING!! on 12TH AUGUST 2018 1:08 PM

Beaton would be fearful of being downgraded as Clancy was, for making the correct decision.

    *

Big pal and I were discussing this yesterday. An e-mail to UEFA/FIFA re SFA rewriting of the laws of the game are in order.

This really needs to be clarified.

Are you,are you not, allowed to swing a boot at an opponent?

Clearly not, according to UEFA/FIFA. Depends what jersey you are wearing, according to SFA-and now the precedent has been set, open season for (nearly) all.

Also,AFAIK,appeals tribunals have always been held to strict interpretation. In other words,it’s not a case of whether the ref wascorrect at the time,it’s whether his decision can be justified in the cold clear light of day.

FIVE overturned reds suggests there is something very much wrong in SFA interpretation

    (And quite frankly,I’m shocked!)

  20. thomthethim for Oscar OK on

Apart from the off the field issues from last week. I would like to mention an on field issue that bothers me.

It is our formation when we lose the ball.

Our midfield is immediately bypassed with little or no resistance.

Watching virtually every other team on the planet, one thing they have in common is that they immediately adopt two lines of four players, that have to be navigated.

We also don’t track back efficiently.

We don’t do it, Why not?

The space we allow on a turn over is criminal and is obviously tactical.

In our last two games, we have lost goals due to a player to positioning him self straight in front of goal, without any hindrance.

Who is to blame for, in my opinion, tactical naivety?

    The coach, that’s who.

It is an arrogance to think that we can play on the front foot for ninety minutes and leave our back line vulnerable.

Sort it Brendan or, I’m afraid your crown will soon slip.

Me neither. I actually think we should have bit the hand off Fulham, said so at the time.

Big problem I have with players in the last year of their contract who have stated they’re offski-they don’t try a leg. Don’t want to be injured.

HENRIK is an honourable exclusion. See if you can think of another. They either play for a new contract in their last season or know their rep is good, better not get injured

  22. The timternet is reporting that Hibs are interested in signing Scott Allen! It would be a bit strange if he wasn’t offered as a ‘make weight’ during the JMG transfer saga. Should we sell given that it is unlikely that he will feature in the 1st team and Hibs will likely be the only interested party now that the English transfer window has closed?

  23. Mullet &Co

A good while ago I posted that BR was the biggest asset on Celtic’s books because of his record of increasing value and that he should be given every encouragement.

Your example shows why and if you were to put a value on all the players that have played under him the princes will outnumber the frogs.

There is a bit of safety first about the PL approach because the last thing he will want as a Celtic man is to jeopardise Celtic’s future and I can appreciate that is not a responsibility he would want to fail in.

But here we have another Celtic man with different skills that can also add value using the core reason of the business, which is football. This is something not encountered before.

As everything in life a compromise needs to be reached between safety first and slower growth and taking some risk but with faster growth where it counts to suppprters, which is on the park.

However if the BR growth is to become the chosen path, supporters have to accept that our stars will be sold regularly as part of that process and to reduce the footballing consequences and lower growth there has to be a steady stream of players BR can develop. A chicken and egg situation.

That is why I think the failure to land McGinn has so annoyed BR because I’m pretty certain that after 4 years under BR he would leave with his value at least tripled.

In effect it’s not so much a clash of personalities but a clash of professional cultures.

Both guys are really good at what they are good at, but a new steer from DD is needed to deal with this new reality.

Part of that reality is that winning titles with current level of back up players is not a given and we need to strengthen there first.

Europe can take care of itself after that at whatever level we qualify, CL or EL.

What we need is a Thelma and Louise situation where the car occupants are breaking free of their bounds, but are aware there are cliffs ahead to be avoided.

  24. Delaneys Dunky on

    Croppy

Agree totally with you. You could see from our Europe displays that Broonie was playing inhibited fitba. He should be getting rested in domestic games.

Hope you are well. Long time no see, mucker.

Clancy was not downgraded because of Moreloss (sic) he was downgraded for not sending off that Ball character for (in my opinion the non-penalty) Hun player was offside and going for the ball i.e. active before any foul, if even a foul

V true re: Henrick. So I suppose it makes sense for both parties to part before we get to our current situation.

Ive just remembered Berras injury yesterday, looks a bad one, but it was no ones fault, just him trying too hard to block a ball. HH.

  27. Mullet &Co

A PS. The changes to CL/EL qualifying are the worst thing that could happen to Scottish clubs. (and those from other smaller supported leagues)

No I would not transfer him to Hibs,I would give them nothing, Lennon was not helpful in the recent transfer dealings, so we should not help him,Petrie,or Dempsey.

As for TAL and I being on opposite sides of the law … nah … he’s a pussycat … and I’m not sure that lawyers and criminals are really that different … more like opposite sides of the same coin …. much like certain football clubs?
