Hopefully the Low trickledown will not reach Glasgow

391

With the announcement that Joachim Low will leave Germany after the Euros, you can prepare yourself for months of speculation about the position of Jurgen Klopp and the Liverpool job, with trickledown references to Steven Gerrard.  I want Gerrard to stay in Glasgow.

This is not about getting back into the water after a shark bite.  Gerrard has won one trophy of the eight he has competed for in Scotland, reaching one final in five cup competitions, which he lost to 10 men.  His only success would have been achieved with the same squad by either of his two predecessors against Celtic and Aberdeen teams that imploded so completely both lost their managers.  Gerrard is a bottler who has not been under pressure since Hamilton visited Ibrox a year ago (a game he also lost).

More importantly, Newco will have him under the kind of contract that earned Celtic £9m when Brendan Rodgers left for Leicester.  They need that kind of money and more to make up some of the chasm between their current financial position and fulfilling Uefa Financial Fair Play regulations.

I would rather they needed to sell an additional £9m of playing talent than cashed in on a manager with a track record that would have him taxied to the airport at Celtic.  Celtic’s problems this season are CELTIC’s problems, not the challenge from across the city.  If we are worried about a one-in-eight manager it’s time to pick up a different sport.

  3. If Celtic Football Club were serious then they would make sure Res 12 is back on the table so until then it’s all panto from the official Twitter page with nonsense comments like that.

AT-the bigot £ is maybe the wrong phrase.

But when they decided to both charge £49 for an away ticket.🤷🏽‍♂️

You give us 800 tickets 🤔

    Right back at you 😉

  5. I like the statement. It’s a good start. No backing down from it. Let them sqirm in a mess of their own making. Taking up Res 12 would be a good follow up step, although I suspect we are conflicted there and nothing will happen about that.

  7. Ramsdens Cup: Brechin City 1-2 Rangers

    By Clive Lindsay

    BBC Scotland

    Last updated on29 July 201229 July 2012

”The new Rangers started life outside the top flight of Scottish football with a victory over Brechin City – but only after extra time at Glebe Park……..

Rangers’ first appearance in the Challenge Cup – the competition for senior clubs outside of the Scottish Premier League – followed the old club’s financial meltdown.

However, despite the exit of a number of top players unwilling to play in Division Three this season, the new Rangers created by Charles Green’s consortium still featured some familiar faces…….

Receipt of a Scottish Football Association membership, albeit temporary because of continuing negotiations over conditions of entry, had gone to the wire on Friday.

However, McCulloch rose to power a header into the net from a MacLeod corner to give Rangers a winning start to their adventure under the auspices of the Scottish Football League.”

Brilliant tweet Celtic.Maybe a bit late now though.

When do the renewal forms go out 🤔

  9. Read an earlier post with some praise for English’s latest long piece on the BBC. It’s full of detail but reminds me of a downhill skier going round all the poles – he avoids all the big issues and uses one elliptical formulation at the end. There’s nothing new here, just ass covering with a lot of material that avoids the LNS farce, the role of the SFA picked up by resolution 12, the word ‘liquidation’ and the continuity myth etc.

Essentially he sat on the pot a long time and did nothing. If you can’t tell the truth about that mob after their current behaviour and ridiculous statements it would be more honest to say nothing.

It’s not a million miles from the latest club tweet – it’s nowhere near enough and if they really want to speak the truth and nothing but the truth they will need more than a tweet. Given the colossal failure this year, that could hardly have been conceived beforehand, I won’t hold my breath that they plan to revise that as well as the rest of the club, although we’re all waiting impatiently to see what exactly that means.

  10. Rangers’ SFA membership rubber-stamped

    Last updated on3 August 20123 August 2012

‘Rangers have received full membership of the Scottish Football Association, the governing body has confirmed.

The relaunched Ibrox club have obtained the old Rangers’ licence to play after the latter headed for liquidation.

Rangers were granted a conditional membership last week which allowed their Ramsdens Cup win at Brechin to go ahead.

Membership was confirmed after Rangers’ Scottish Premier League share was given to Dundee.

A statement read: “The Scottish FA can confirm that The Rangers Football Club Ltd have today received confirmation that full membership of the association has been transferred.”

The new Rangers, who will begin life in Division Three, needed membership to play any competitive matches and negotiations over inheriting the old club’s licence were protracted.

The Ibrox club have agreed to incur punishments handed to the old regime over disrepute charges, including a year-long transfer ban, which will begin on 1 September.

The user wished for his death and also mocked his father’s passing.

    Bob

Not heard anything but if I was being pragmatic I would have copyrighted it also. If we hadn’t then the Huns could use it without us having any control

  18. Bob- just a sad reaction to the fact, we Celtic don’t want to be associated with such, low life, in bred, moronic, ugly, supremacist $@&$ wits.

  19. It may well be wise for Celtic not to fulfil this fixture.

We would however be accused of running scared.

That’s not to say it’s not the correct course of action to take.

    HH jg

  20. Bob,

dont quote me but i remember reading a while back that we

shared copyright, but sevco cant use it without our agreement,

we dont use it and dont agree to them using it,but continue to

share registration so they cannot get sole use.

i could be completely wrong though ;-)))
